  1. Wild enjoy our sloppy seconds. Brackett now King. Hope they make a move for Benning soon.
  2. Ngl, I'd rather this contract than Soucy's. But it's not a huge deal. Good puck up for the Kraken.
  3. The end of Return of the King though. Just end so I can pee.
  4. Guess Compher wanted money over a competent team. He has a cup though, right? I'd get the bag too. He's versatile. Can move to the wing if a good center develops for them
  5. I hope so, but this sounds like a recipe for injuring Demko.
  6. Sorry if I came at you, just felt like you were downplaying how good he is. I don't think just any goalie even on good defensive teams can put up Sorokin numbers. But it's true that it helps being on a good defensive team. I think Demko's numbers would be top 5 in the league if we weren't routinely icing AHL bluelines. Lets hope Soucy and Cole bring much needed stability so we can stop running Demko into the ground.
  7. I feel like I am a bit harder on this and the Cole signing than I should be. Offensively I think we're great. So the fact these pickups aren't the "sexy" pickups doesn't take away from their actual value to us. We don't need Soucy or Cole to bring offence. We need them to help stem the bleeding defensively. They should do that. Adding a physical edge will also be nice. As long as they can give us 16-18 minutes of sound defence. We are a much improved team. Cause we lost next to nothing offensively. Unless Kuzmenko isn't who he was last season. The value on the PK alone is probably more than I am giving it credit for. This is why I hate reacting to these signings early. I never really give em the kind of thought they deserve. Tomorrow I'll probably be even more on board. Blueger I'll probably need to see him in action to sign on for. But Soucy and Cole I can pretty easily envision their value.
  8. This argument can be made for so many good players playing good. Petey's numbers are good. Helps that he has a great offensive structure behind him like Hughes, Miller and Kuzmenko. Some players are good and worth building around. Sorokin is one imo.
  9. 7 year deal? Interesting. He's 30 years old, so this'll bring him to 37. They also have Dobson and Pulock on the right side. Pelech and Romanov already on the left. They just gonna dump all their cap in having 3 top 4 D pairs and a top 3 goalie? Lol. We don't need to score a lot, just one more than you.
  10. This guy is a stud. A large reason that team was in the playoff hunt despite having little to no goal support.
  11. Hoping we stick Silovs as the main guy in the A. But if it comes down to Sawchenko, Martin and Silovs for our backup spot, and we are serious about being a playoff team. Sounds like Silovs is likely our guy. Will see what he does in training camp. His competition isn't particularly fierce.
  12. Intangibles feels like a word people throw out to make their player sound better. Like they don't actually know what he does better than the other guy so they just say he has better intangibles. His elevated play led to fewer minutes though. So he is better in the playoffs than Holl. I don't hate the signing but I am losing faith in Yzerman because of it. Soucy and Holl are both from the same bag of meh. Intangibles or no.
  13. Soucy wasn't exactly a world beater either, had his minutes reduced when the playoffs started. All I am saying is both signings are a bag of meh. But the difference is people hate Holl and celebrate Soucy. Either both suck or both are decent.
  14. Meh, depth guy. Kids are going to the AHL. Looks like Hirose will be one of them unless he has a nutty preseason.
  15. So we should just give Macklin Celebrini his Canucks jersey now?
  16. 150k difference, so the signed for less part sounds better than it is. Holl plays quite a bit more. So he gets in front of more pucks and hits about as much. He produces slightly more offence with sub 44% ozone starts whereas Soucy had 54% ozone starts last season. I dunno. Sounds like Holl is the better player making 150k more and is right handed. If you like the Soucy contract this one is slightly better. The only notable advantage I give Soucy is age. Seem like more or less the same kind of contract. Which is why I found it funny people are killing Yzerman for this deal but are also complimentary of the Soucy deal. Holl the slightly better player and right handed, so he got slightly more than Soucy. They seem to be about the same level of "fair."
  17. Has anyone told the league's GMs the cap went up like 1mil and not 10mil?
  18. 3 years 1.1mil? Good for him. Will be interesting to see how it plays out. Can get a depth D cheaper. But they suck, so they probably plan on him being a regular on the 3rd pair. Guy plays hard and likes the throw the body around. They should like him there.
  19. Do people that hate this deal like the Soucy deal? Genuinely curious.
  20. 3rd pair D, a little rich for my blood. But the retool has it's next potential victim of too high of expectations. Here's hoping Hronek actually can carry him 5 on 5. Who knows, guy was a late bloomer maybe he can actually take that next step and be a consistent top 4 D. Either way, I am not mad at the signing. We been lacking a D that can actually throw a mean hit and can defend. He checks both boxes.
  21. Some warm bodies til next summer when we actually have cap to work with. Then we don't have cap to work with the following 2 summers. Ian Cole is nice to have, but also not really? 19 minutes a game playing behind Sergachev and Hedman. So that's actually a pretty good sign. But at 34 can he play behind Hughes and only Hughes? And being a 1 year this is like I said just a warm body til next summer is my guess. Blueger is borderline a 4th liner. But with 19% ozone starts, I guess he's just out there hoping to survive the offensive onslaught so guys like Petey, Kuz and Boeser don't have to. Great faceoff numbers and can PK. Nothing wrong with 1 year deals while we wait out Beauvillier's and Myers' contracts. Might even be able to trade Garland next summer. Then we'll have actual cap to target actual players we plan on using more than 1 year.
  22. Schenner got his retirement deal. Good for him. He was a great professional for us.
  23. Hard to roast Montreal too hard, given the hate the Juolevi pick received at the time. Fans can get a little too emotional over these things.
