We have a better chance of making the playoffs than we do of getting into the top 5. We would have to lose nearly every game while Calgary posts close to a 500 record. Our best bet is 6th but I'd say we have a better shot at 7th. By winning percentage we're tied for 8th last in the league.

What's been happening has really just been a stagnation not a slow crumble. Exploring options is fine and I'm sure they do that all the time. Like I said trading someone like Kesler unless it is an over payment doesn't make sense and rarely works. We want a Linden trade not a Smyth or Phaneuf trade.

Higgins shouldn't be a 2nd liner imo. I like Higgins but I think of him as the odd man out here.

Wouldn't you say doing something just to do it would be foolish? I don't think they have to do anything. This doesn't have to be this complete rebuild but it also shouldn't be a slow crumble like what's happened in Calgary. Calgary you will remember traded away a pretty big name player seemingly just to make a deal which is what started them in this mess they are in in the first place. You could look at Edmonton when they traded away Smythe as well as an example. Just because he's potentially the most easy to move doesn't mean they should or have to move him. The only reason to move him is for an over payment.

slow clap I'm as tired of the whiners as I am with Gillis. I will say this though, anybody who wants to bring Brian Burke back is not seeing the forest for the trees and quite frankly shouldn't be taken seriously. Maybe you're not old enough to fully remember the Burke Era but it wasn't fun.Gillis is a better GM than Brian Burke; and that's not necessarily a complement. I couldn't care less if Gillis stays or goes but in this case this trade is a good deal. Markstrom is the center piece; anybody with half a brain and a shred of knowledge knows that. My earlier comment was that Matthias is not just a rental. He's a player under contract.
