  1. Edler for Kane Winnipeg would have an incredible defence and it would open up the ability to move a guy like Buff to Edmonton for a player like Yak. Edler to Win Kane To Van Buff to Edm Yak to Win Winnipeg gets an exciting, marquis offensive talent to market around, excite the fans forget about Kane very quickly. They don't really lose much defensively in a Edler for Buff swap arguable who's better. Edmonton, gets a big, veteran Dman with a cup and some talent to help their back end. Vancouver deals from strength and gives up really the only player with value that we can afford to. And gets its 2nd line power forward. Makes sense all around Sedin Sedin Kassian Burrows Kesler Kane Booth Santo Hansen Higgins Richardson Weise/Tostito Hammer/ Stanton Bieksa / Tanev Garrison/ Corrado
  2. I saw it, wasn't deliberate, more of a 'missed hit' but since the player was injured and he got a match a one gamer is warranted. Given it was only one game clearly displays there wasn't an intent to injure.
  3. Isles are not a right now team! lol that's absurd!! They have no defense Terrible goaltending And no depth past the 2nd line No significant playoff experience You're suggesting this move was to make a 'run'...yes I agree, its the type of move a team making a run makes, but they are in no position to compete for a cup yet, which is why everyone is suggesting giving up that much for a rental makes zero sense. You do that when you're 'one piece' away...not when you have 3 pieces and need 7 more!
  4. and Vanek is a rental!!! I guess they figure he'll want to stay in NYC and playing with Tavares is a pretty good carrot to dangle. All will depend on if they can resign but regardless still an overpayment. 30 goal scorer (granted party bec of the great center) but Buffalo has good young centers so he will keep performing pretty well and the 1st and the 2nd! steep Moulson and a 2nd would have worked in my mind. I guess NYI has so much young talent they really dont need the picks right now. *** Edit Didn't realize Moulson was a rental too....still don't get it. Why give up and first and a second and roster player for that? I think they could have waited to the deadline and got away with the 1st and 2nd if they are in the hunt and kept Moulson for the playoffs. Makes little sense to me for a team that really isn't a contender yet, unless they REALLY feel they will re-sign him.
  5. He had a nice game, I watched it. Takeaways 1. He had a beautiful rip on his first goal (drop pass from a Subban rush), in the slot (no pun intended!) shelf over the glove one timer as he walked into a nice drop from Subban who took the zone. 2. Subban, man when that kid rushes he just pushes guys back. If he can't make the nucks as a dman, put him on kesler's wing dammit! lol 3. Guance had 2 in regulation and seems (in all the game's i've watched) just to get goals by being in the right spots...its a bit weird actually because you don't notice him but then wham its on his stick and he's got an empty net....good positionally and hockey smarts clearly. 4. Yes his skating needs work and its not his stride. Its really his first 2-3 steps. He just doesn't have that 'explosiveness' he'll need at the NHL level. Once he's moving he's got wheels. This is correctable though, he's not slow, he's slow off the mark. Is that weight? nope, its core, its leg strength, its training. 5. I'd like to see him start using his body more in a more aggressive manner. He has good body positioning but he doesn't hit. He has the size to really impose on players and now with his experience should have the confidence. End of the day. I think the kid will be a decent 3c or winger on the second line. All he needs is some time and needs to get 'man strength'. Horvat is definitely ahead of him in all those categories (watch alot of knights games too) but With Horvat/Cassells/Gaunce as our centers of the future, we look pretty good!
  6. re the bolded area 1. he has 1 pt and is paid 5 milllion 2. see number 1 3. he is a minus 5 his stats disagree with your 'playing fine' assessment. you then suggest he needs to make more plays, drive the net etc..that suggests as well, that he is not playing fine... sorry not to beat on the CoHo deal but given all his flaws, that kid's numbers are better than our 'superstar' selke winner... ya its early but its fact
  7. torres brought toughness and edge we didnt have as i recall he was a big reason we lost to sj last year... yes he has a rep...but thats not the point you SAID THAT HE WAS CHASING MONEY... I WAS SIMPLY OWNING YOU BY PROVING YOUR POINT WRONG
  8. Burrows stays Go Kesler Bieksa or Hammer (not because I dislike Hammer but I see Corrado as a Hammer replacement) and Bieksa is tough something we still lack so as much as Hammer is better, Bieksa is less of what we have. Hammer would also get us ALOT Kelser and Booth somewhere Hammer and Higgins somewhere Throw in Gaunce That should get us a legitimate second line center who is young and a good winger with size and decent hands, as well as a 3rd line player with size and speed.
  9. TORRES WANTED 750 K MORE AND AN EXTRA YEAR. WOULDN'T CALL THAT CHASING MONEY AND GIVEN THE LACK OF GRIT IT WAS A NO BRAINER FOR MG
  10. What's more glaring, seats available up to game time vs montreal in vancouver that's a good thing sends a message to acquilini 1. Your team is not as competitive as you believe it to be 2. Therefore your tickets are overpriced 3. If this continues, it will cause MG to be fired, which should have happened last year
  11. Love Trevor but he would need some time to "learn the business"... Maybe its time to offer him a role though...who else better to help develop our youth than the best leader this team has ever seen, a guy who gave everything night in night out (well next to smyl for those who remember him). Offer him the director of player development role!
  12. and your isn't? lol pot meet kettle...interesting assumtion you made about me. specifics tend to come from somewhere now have some peanuts troll
  13. My guess is they aren't that far apart but its likely a term vs pay thing. My guess is Tanev's agent says 2, 2.5, 3 for three years. Nucks want 1.2, 1.5, 1.7, 2 for 4 years (clealry get a young player at a very nice cap hit for 4 years). Tanev's agent is saying he's worth 2 now and will only get better. - which he's not worth 2 but will get better so they don't want to lock him in for a longer term. His agent is just doing his job but would likely come off the money for a shorter term. Issue then becomes Nucks say well he's only worth 1.5 max and we want that longer term bc he's not proven. Thus you get a standoff. They will get him signed and my guess is it will be 1.2 , 1.5, 1.7 for three years.
  14. I think you are underestimating Schroeder and overestimating gaunce. Gaunce hasn't played a game vs pros. Schroeder has a year and a decent one at that in the NHL and a few in the ahl. While I agree we need gaunce to make it, I see him on the fourth with potential third or second line duty if he Shows he can handle it and depending on who else of our young players make it. I see lines like this: Sedin sedin kassian Burrows Kesler Jensen Booth Schroeder Hansen Gaunce Richardson Higgins
  15. I was against burr on the third line but a poster above made me think about it more. I'd prefer Burr with Kesler bc of the chemistry and the fact he is really our best 2 way forward in terms of consistency, effort, health etc. He can score 25-30 with our without the sedins, but needs ice time for that. If torts rolls 3 lines pretty evenly with the 4th sparingly, and gives burr pp time (something people forget he rarely got with AV, it could work, i just wouldn't want him to fall into the 'checker' mentality when he's such a great 2 way player. Don't kill his hands! That being said, I'm pretty sure that the Sedins, Kesler, and Burr (Higgy and Hansen too) will be immediate Tort's favorites given their 2 way play and effort, so will see alot of ice. So would this work? Sedins Kassian Booth Schroeder Kesler Burrows Guance Hansen Weisse Richardson Higgins Yes...but I'd prefer Sedins Kassian Burrows Schroeder Kesler Booth Guance Higgins Weisse Richardson Hansen
  16. Each line should have 2 vets and a young player. The young player adds the missing ingredient that the vets don't have to make the line balanced with speed, size, hands, and defensive play. Sedin Sedin Kassian (Kassian adds some speed and size, hands are good) balanced Burrows Kesler Jensen (Burrows is the playmaker, Jensen the size and hands) balanced Booth Schroeder Higgins (Booth gives the line some size, Higgy defensive responsibility and speed) Guance Richardson Hansen (Gaunce, no pressure on the wing, go out play defensively responsible, get experience and can slot in at C if one of our c's gets hurt). Richardson good faceoff man. Hansen is the man as we all know 4 lines, balanced with youth speed, hands, defensive responsibilty. Only thing we lack is hitting and that's why I wanted us to keep Lappy. Oh well

Durl, we should haz a play date.

  19. I think the argument can be made that: Its alot harder to find a dynamic/explosive/big center if you don't have a top 4 pick. Those guys are not a dime a dozen and go very early, just like big, offensive defenseman. So, get the best big, two way center and in future years fill out your roster with a dynamic winger as those are easier to find than the center. Nazzy, Morrison, Bert were a great line, but Morrison was never considered an "elite" center. Just a very good 2 way guy. And he didn't have size. I don't mine Horvat/Gaunce as our future 1/2 if we can find the talent on the wings to support a responsible 2 way center. My only issue is, you typically want a guy who can distribute the puck well at center. Neither of these guys are playmakers. They are good scorers, good in their own end character guys, Rod Brind'amour comes to mind for the old folks. Perhaps this means they are keeping Schroeder and will bookend him with size, which would make sense and move Guance to the wing, where he has shown some prowess. Shinkaruk Horvat Kassian Gaunce Schroeder Jensen Alot of hope and assumptions here and all of those players HAVE to develop but here is some good all around skill there. Shinkaruk will have to show he can score like he did in Junior and Schroeder will have to make the next step now...but if they do, the rest of that top 2 lines looks decent.
