  1. “On the ice” Linden outproduced everyone on your list come playoff time. Higher totals than any of them. Although Bure Petey and Hughes have higher PPG (in the playoffs), Linden is on par with both Petey and Hughes if you look at the same ages. Linden didn’t get his points in the bubble though. Playoffs are where it matters most and Trev was every bit as good as people remember him.
  2. Oh man this thread is on fire! Some high quality dad jokes with extra cheese! Love it!
  3. Yeah, he might. Well his old man started cheering for Buffalo around the same age. Still does to this day! But it's the Canucks that he truly cares about. We raised him right! Lol
  4. My 7 year old LOVES the Kraken jersey. If it gets the kids onboard then that's great!
  5. I don't really disagree with this. Only have 3 choices left though lol. Dallas has always annoyed me and Florida feels like a waste of time. Plus I'm just not about to cheer for Tkachuk. With Vegas at least I can feel like I'm cheering for the growth of the game. Lol
  6. Boston gonna lose two game sevens at home (to 8 seeds) in the same year? The thought of it warms my heart!
  7. Tkachuk!? No thanks! Vegas has a growing fan base and hockey is establishing a foothold there. Their success is good for the league. Go Knights!
  8. Now now! You know better than that. This is CDC! We don’t trade anyone with value no matter what! We just assume that other teams want to give us assets in order to take on contracts that we don’t like.
  9. Pretty big difference between the two. Beauvillier is an expiring contract. Garland has 2 more years after next season. A deal that helps us for 1 year is a waste imo.
  10. Boooo!! The pettiness is strong in this thread! Hockey is never going to be big in Florida. Vegas is establishing long term fans which is great for the game. (And ultimately helps with the cap going up as well) Go Vegas!! Rain on everyone's parade!
  11. Good call! I had forgotten about that game. As for Irbe in SJ I was not aware of much aside from that he had earned a bit of hype. Mostly things that I read in the local newspaper (Province and Vancouver Sun I think) back when he came to Van. He was pretty good in Carolina though! Was he really better in SJ?
  12. Arturs Irbe baby! He was pretty darned good in Carolina for a time.
  13. Yeah.. Myers and Beauvillier don't make a ton of sense to me (unless it is to acquire assets) to move. Their contracts are up after a year and then the cap is dealt with. (which also might be a reason why they have value closer to the TDL) We don't need to accomplish everything next year. We simply need to improve on last year. No need for short term 1 year solutions unless it also benefits the future, as far as I'm concerned.
  14. I agree strongly with all of this. (Well aside from Silovs pushing out Demko since I am not bold enough for that kind of prediction) The thing about goaltending is that it's REALLY weird and teams are hesitant to commit to them due to the weirdness. Bobrovsky for example. He was seen as a HORRIBLE contract and then all of a sudden... Where the hell did that come from?? On the opposite side you have Jake Oettinger who seemed like the greatest thing since sliced bread. (an underrated expression. seriously! pre-sliced bread is the bomb and nobody thinks about it!) All of a sudden what happened to him? I just don't see any team investing in Demko regardless of how good he is. (I also just couldn't bring myself to type "irregardless" no matter how much I wanted to keep up the CDC tradition)
  15. Just heard this mentioned on the radio. Sounds like a Chicago insider thinks they’re taking a look at our pick. I found this https://www.hockeyfeed.com/nhl-news/blackhawks-and-canucks-linked-in-monster-draft-day-trade Possible way to move cap and pick up a 2nd along the way? Edit: This appears to be the source. The Blackhawks aren’t optimistic about their chances to move up from their second first-round pick at No. 19. Even if the Blackhawks package the No. 19 pick and a second-rounder or two, that probably isn’t enough for a team to budge from a top-15 selection. The Vancouver Canucks might be the only team that could make sense. It’s no secret the Canucks are trying to get out of a few contracts this offseason. If the Blackhawks took on one of those contracts and packaged a first- and second-round pick, maybe that would entice the Canucks to trade the No. 11 pick. There should be some really good players left on the board at 11 if the Blackhawks could do that. - Scott Powers
  16. Yep I agree. But anybody can be overpaid. I'm leaning towards your way of thinking but still consider this to be a work in progress until we see what the contract looks like. Once upon a time folks were excited about Jason Garrison or Nate Schmidt. Not saying that's the situation we have here. Simply explaining why I'm not about to jump to conclusions just yet.
  17. Have we extended him yet? No? Then I have no idea if I'm happy or not! The trade was a great first step but I still grade it an "I" for incomplete. My guess is that I'll end up liking the trade but we really do need to see that contract first.
  18. Yeah I guess they probably would. Good call!
