  1. But do you think that the value of players today is the same as back then? I'm wondering if the salary cap and current low value of wingers would change anything. I can't see Buffalo moving Dahlin for Kaprizov just to use your example.
  2. Yeah I that’s kinda where my mind was at. So he’s a 28ish year old winger but WOW what a winger! Also has an injury history. Does that net us a top 2 D in the modern NHL? And just for fun let’s say that he’s a UFA (or will be within 1-2 years). What kind of contract is he looking at?
  3. No!! Cam Neely in his prime does not exist today! The time machine only applies Pavel! Unless you’re suggesting Bure only nets us an executive ( current Neely? ) lol!
  4. Just a hypothetical discussion! Let’s say that Bure is in the same (or as close as possible) position today, that he was in when he left the team back in 99. What kind of return would he get via trade? And also what kind of contract would he be offered? Note: I am NOT asking what the modern equivalent of his return is. I am asking what he would command if he existed right now. (Also assume that his age and production history remain the same)
  5. Exactly! And their value is not even always reliant on them being developed. Hronek should be an obvious example. We didn’t “gamble on magic beans”. We traded the bean for a valuable piece.
  6. I wish this was more generally understood. I find this "magic bean" argument to be so tiresome and weak. People saying that draft picks aren't guarantees and take years to work out as a way of justifying short-sighted moves. It's like they intentionally ignore logic because they're so determined to win an argument.
  7. What I'm seeing is footage of the salary cap rising. Laffs need to keep this thing rolling long enough for the league to pay off their debt!
  8. Woah! He straight up looks like Ricky from Trailer Park Boys. Just noticing now!
  9. Pretty good interview with the directors of the documentary this morning. (3rd hour of Halford and Brough) Probably worth a listen. Especially if you're one of those that jumped to conclusions upon reading the title of the thread.
  10. Can we just give away two wingers? That's my question personally. If teams are asking us to give up picks and prospects in order to move cap then that's not a great option. I don't really want to lose a guy like Linus Karlsson. (Just as an example)
  11. I was a big Horvat supporter but he set himself up for this. I don’t have a big problem with what he said. He can say it but people are “free” to rip him for it as well. I say let him eat his words!
  12. He just has a different vibe to him right now. He has had such a rough go of it the last couple of years. Always seemed like a cloud was hanging over him. (Understandable for sure) It’s almost like he’s found his passion for the game again. I’d like to see what that looks like on the ice. Especially if the rest of the team is also of a similar mindset. If physical conditioning is/was as big of a deal as RT has hinted at then you have to wonder…. How improved can these guys be with a little bit of hard work?
  13. Those are also mostly reasons why we would have to pay a premium to trade him at this time. Probably not worth it currently.
  14. But that’s not how math works! One goal is way worse! (650 commercial lol! Always makes me laugh)
  15. The poor little Bruins getting kicked around on their own ice. Almost makes me sad enough not to laugh… Almost.
  16. The internal conflict that poor man must be feeling. "Should I be impatient or should I save money!? The world is so unfair! Why can't I have both!?"
  17. It was all fun and games when it was Sebastian Aho!
