I never used to be an early bird but these days I love this time of day. Nobody else is awake yet! I can sit and peacefully drink my coffee for a bit before being ready to start the day. -

(Rumour) 4 teams interested in J.T. Miller

No doubt. He has plenty to be frustrated with. I'm just saying that there is a way that a captain must handle those frustrations regardless of the reasons. Most of the time he handles it the right way. Every so often though, he makes those absolute "no no" plays that a captain just can't do. Can't float to the bench and can't give up on the backcheck. Just can't do it! I think there is a scenario where the extra responsibility of the "C" causes JT to clean that stuff up. I can also see a situation where things become very toxic (in and out of the room) if he did not clean it up. If he's chosen for the job then obviously I hope it is the former and not the latter. -
Yep! It's difficult to cheer for a tank while watching the game. Lately I just differentiate between "game me" and "Stanley Cup me". I am "game me" while watching the game. Always want them to score and always want them to win. As soon as the game is over I revert to "Stanley Cup me" and wish they would have lost. (or am happy if they did) lol

Hopefully you're right about that! Optically, that's not how it appears. He looks like he's frustrated and allowing it to get the best of him. Most of the time he channels his frustrations properly (takes it out on the other team) but it looks like there are times when it causes him to wilt. Misconception perhaps? That's what it looks like to me though. -

Do you guys think that the extra responsibility would help Miller to clean up the plays where he seemingly gives up? That's where I hesitate with giving him the C. The captain can't be floating to the bench on a change when he doesn't like his previous shift. They also can't be giving up on the backcheck just because they don't think they can catch up to the play. Have to assume that the guy you're chasing may not score or could make a mistake. I can see a situation where the captaincy causes JT to step up those parts of his game because he knows he needs to set an example. It would be bad if he didn't though. He'd be answering those questions from the media on a daily basis and I don't think the constant negativity would be good for him. -

I don't have a big issue with it but for me JT is the one who should be chewed out a little bit from time to time. It's him that needs to be pulled aside by someone else from time to time. Part of the reason why I would not personally choose to give him the "C". I think he'd respond well to having a leader in the room rather than being asked to be that guy. -

I could see him changing his mind if he’s able to experience a playoff run. The current roster has no idea what it’s like in this city when things really go well. Hansen has talked about it before. Says there is nothing cooler than winning in a Canadian city. Our current group has never experienced this and had the fire lit in them. -
