  1. Fraser got voted in at 49 but if he wants to be on the list twice I'm certainly not going to argue with him!
  2. This will all be a moot point in a couple of years when we win the cup and launch Bo, Brock, Petey and Hughes to the top of this list.
  3. Sure, a lot of people didn't like the contracts at the time but now we have them. Since we do, I would say that Sutter is probably the easier guy to trade. You're having a different discussion than I am.
  4. Yeah it's tight. They'll need to make another decision on Edler as well. I think Sutter might have the more tradeable contract between himself and Beagle.
  5. Sutters contract ends a year sooner though. He's also 3 years younger so maybe less chance that his game falls off. Meh I can see the point either way.
  6. I doubt anybody voted Brock because they "hated Cooke" lol. Anyone who voted for Brock did so because they have him ranked ahead of Cooke. If they had to pull their vote from someone else, that's because they had BOTH guys ranked ahead of Cooke.
  7. That's fair and a good way of putting it. I think I am putting a lot of stock in Brock leading the team in scoring in his rookie year. That's pretty rare on any team. It looks less cool because Petey shows up right afterwards and also does it lol. I just think the Canucks would be in awful shape without Brock. I don't think the Canucks would have been too bad off had they lost Cooke for whatever reason.
  8. I am curious. Would you look at this differently if this was an all-time NHL player list rather than a Canuck one? For example. Would you have Zdeno Chara ranked above Bobby Orr? Chara has played nearly 900 more games than Bobby. In fact Chara has played almost 400 more in Boston alone.
  9. Agreed but since it has come down to a tie-breaker, I tried to compare the 2 directly. Cookes nomination I think was definitely recency bias. The vote can't be recency though because Boeser is the more recent. I'm guessing Cooke provides childhood memories for some that Brock does not.
  10. Voting Murzyn is what got us in to this Matt Cooke mess to begin with! Haha I should have just voted Brock to turn the tide like you did. I understand the Matt Cooke games played argument. However for me that just doesn't hold enough weight when comparing these two players. Brock Boeser lead the team in goals and points in his rookie year. He immediately became a first line player and stayed there. I can't imagine that we would have had any trouble replacing Matt Cooke if he hadn't been on the team for whatever reason. If Brock Boeser hadn't been on the team then the difference would be dramatic. That makes it clear to me who left a bigger impact.
  11. Voted Brock! I think he'll definitely take this convincingly. People spread the votes around quite a bit in that last round so it left Cooke an opening. That opening is gone with it reduced to two choices imo.
  12. Wow I thought I was a bigger Matt Cooke fan than most but apparently not! It never even crossed my mind to vote for him lol
  13. Vote Murzyn and nominate Boldirev one last time!
  14. Voting Dana Murzyn! Nominate Ivan Boldirev
  15. Look at the all time Leafs haha My buddy is a Leafs fan and he just hangs his head when you start going through their D history.
  16. I am not super familiar with a lot of the names either. There does seem to be a consensus around the league however, that LA had one of the deepest prospect pools out there. https://www.nhl.com/kings/news/la-kings-prospect-pool-ranked-1-in-nhl-by-the-athletic/c-314918132 Just an example.
  17. Can't argue with the winner of the last round! I'll vote Lanz again! Nominate Boldirev
  18. Oh man this conversation is going too many different directions now for me to keep up haha. What I was talking about is the 3 years that Boeser currently has under his belt vs the 2 that Hlinka was here. If we're talking about what Hlinka could have done had he came earlier vs what Brock may or may not go on to do then I have no idea haha. That's too much for me! Agree about Lanz! He got my vote this round!
  19. Different discussion I think! I actually voted Lanz and have Oddleifson ahead as well. But direct comparison of Brock to Tallon/Hlinka? I still take Brock! I won't actually be voting for Boeser before the top 50 is done however.
  20. Yeah I don't think I will actually be voting Boeser in one of the last 3 spots. My original point was more just that I'm happy for him even though I will not actually be voting for him. You know what, I actually forgot there was a run before the run in 82. I'm pretty familiar with the playoffs themselves but not so much the regular season aside from reading about it.
  21. I actually wasn't aware of this myself until recently but the Canucks were the higher ranked team in every series except the final in 1982. Look I'm not saying Hlinka was useless in the 82 run. I don't think you can discount the teams around each guy however. I don't have Chris Higgins ahead of Boeser do you?
  22. Lol yes and the 2nd most points in the entire playoffs as well as being the captain. As I said Hlinkas 82 run counts. It just doesn't count for much because he wasn't really that huge a part of it. It is not Brocks fault that he came in to a rebuild rather than having the 82 team around him.
  23. Fair I can see the argument. The guy scored 2 goals though man. I'll still take Boeser Edit: I'll take Boesers extra year over Hlinkas 2 goal run that is.
  24. Yeah like I say Hlinka and Boeser is close for me but I give the slight edge to Brock. I think where we differ is in how much value we place on Hlinkas 82 run. I don't discount it myself I just don't value it more than the extra season that we got from Brock vs 2 from Hlinka. I can see the argument either way. And yeah poor wording on my part I guess. I was just meaning that I'd take Brocks 3 Vancouver seasons over Tallons 3. We are on the same page regarding Hughes. Love the guy and I do believe he is the future. The future hasn't happened yet however. I have not personally nominated him.
  25. Sorry I should clarify. I was not taking in to account anything that Tallon did outside of Vancouver. Full body of work then yes that is a different story. As bright as Tallon obviously was at times, his numbers also indicate more of a player who`s performance could vary quite a bit. I`ll take the guy who stepped right on to our top line leading the team in goals and points in his first year. My point about the playoffs is not that we should predict exactly what Boeser would have done. Just that it`s a team game. Like you say, the playoffs are where heroes are forged. Hlinka was not a hero that year. He contributed and he was there. Give him credit for that. Not enough for me to place him above Brock however. I could be wrong! If there was some kind of fantasy draft and Boeser fell to me because Hlinka and Tallon were just taken then I`d look like JB did when Hughes fell to him. I would then question you as to why you did not draft Kole Lind!
