  1. Man you guys are killing me with this thread. Reminding me of all the things that irritated me most. The Sedins should not be blamed for that series. They absolutely played correctly. That clip that people play of Daniel getting punched is called drawing a penalty. Vancouver actually did a good job of getting under the Bruins skin. The idea is that the Bruins will then start to be undisciplined and that's exactly what happened. The refs just happened to let them get away with it rather than do their jobs. I am a boxing guy! Throwing hands is kind of my jam. So it's weird for me to find myself on the opposite side of the "toughness" crowd. I have just never seen the criticisms of the 2011 team presented in a compelling enough way that I believe it. We got screwed guys. It's as simple as that. If anyone needs to do a better job of standing up for the team it's us fans and not the players.
  2. Vote Geoff Courtnall! It's not even close for me considering the names on the list. I considered Tiger but I just can't. Without even including the 94 run, Courtnall has still produced more than double what Tiger did in the playoffs for us. Go Geoff! Nominate RIck Lanz!
  3. I think if they had won (and the league hadn't dropped the ball) everyone would have been talking about how disciplined the Canucks were. "See they didn't get caught up in the stuff after the whistle and take bad retaliatory penalties" I've heard that kind of thing so many times throughout my life. I still think the Sedins played the way they were supposed to play. We shouldn't make excuses for the league. No reason to blame the victim of a crime.
  4. Don't worry! I'm even worse than you lol. I hate the entire city of Boston. I wish nothing but the worst on ALL of their teams, not only the Bruins. I think people are afraid of looking like "homers" but we straight up got screwed even looking at it objectively. We were told for years that the league was gonna be a called a certain way and that certain things would no longer be tolerated. Vancouver built their team accordingly and we went on to dominate the league. Then when the Bruins had a shot to win the league said "just kidding!" and stopped calling anything they did. Romes hit was absolutely unacceptable behavior though! lol. Realistically we probably should have had about 40 minutes of powerplay time per game. People talk about our "lack of push-back" but it was the league that failed. There should have been no reason to "push back" Likely it is difficult for most of you to re-watch that series. If you can manage to do it then it really is wild to watch the officiating completely fall apart in that series. The refs clearly had no control or else chose not to.
  5. I agree with you. I just responded to you because I would say that you're in the majority in disliking the orca. If given the chance I think that most fans would choose to move away from it which imo would be a mistake. I'm not actually passionate about the logo either way myself. I just want consistency. I'd like them to rotate the older jerseys in as alternates in order to scratch that nostalgic itch that people have. You're right about how people view the skate. Let's all just count our blessings that we don't have whatever is on the front of Carolina's jersey!
  6. I still say that the Orca should be left alone. Vancouver tinkers too much. In a couple of years it will have been our logo for half of the teams history. The second best option would be going back to the stick in rink. At least that one shares the same color scheme as we have now and was also our original. A lot of people seem to hate the orca however. If we were to change it then I would hope whatever replaced it was then left alone. I just want us to stick with something!!
  7. Voted for Geoff Courtnall. I was very close to picking Skriko but Courtnall was just too good in the playoffs. One of those rare guys who actually got better come playoff time. Nominate Darcy Rota! It has to be done!
  8. I remember an interview with him about 10 years ago during training camp. Geoff was asked what he thought of the young guys on the ice. His answer was something along the lines of "well if I didn't have as many injuries I'd get out there and kick their ass" HAHA Love that guy!
  9. I voted Greg Adams! His playoff performances give him the edge for me in this one. Nominate Darcy Rota. Full respect to Hansen but I think Rota did more for the team than Hansen did. Just a different tier of player.
  10. That's a good way of putting it. Well said.
  11. Skriko will probably start getting some of the Sundstrom votes. He played a lot longer than Petey has so far. As for Bo. He is not the offensive player that Skriko was but he brings a lot of other things to the table that Skriko did not imo. Odjick idk lol. For the most part he was just an enforcer but he's such a hero to the city.
  12. Wow if this was a fight someone would throw in the towel! Sundstrom is delivering a beating and a half this round.
  13. Yep that's pretty much it for Vancouver fans. My friend didn't think of him though lol. I mean I personally disagree. We've definitely had more than just ONE good GM but you can't mention any of them by name without people rushing to tell you why they suck lol.
  14. I had a friend at work that was really ripping in to Benning a couple of months ago. I asked him which Canucks GM he has liked. He just stared at me and blinked lol.
  15. Yeah 40's sounds about right. I haven't started to think about him as a nomination just yet. I fully expect EP to rocket up this list over the next several years but we aren't there yet. Such a bummer that we got coronavirused out of the rest of this season.
  16. I put way more thought in to this than I should have. In the end I voted 200 or so more. The current speed of the game may not be suited to them as others have said. I don't think that the modern d-man would struggle with the Sedins though. The twins had a way of neutralizing speed once they were in the offensive zone. Teams were reduced to trying to manhandle and bully them off the puck (something that was easier said than done). The lighter quicker guys of today would have a hard time knocking the twins off of the puck. For some reason Chris Pronger kept popping up in my mind as I was thinking about this haha
  17. Petey is a complicated one for me. On the one hand I agree with you. If you were to plunk EP in a 1 on 1 game he would take a lot of the guys on this list completely to school. Part of that is just the evolution of the game however. As good as he is, he still only has two 66 point seasons under his belt. His 55 career goals are what Mogilny got in his first year for us to use your comparison. There's for sure a case to be made for him though! His immediate impact on the team/city is probably rivaled only by Bure and maybe Hughes.
  18. Vote Kearns! Nominate Captain Bo Horvat!
  19. Bieksa should be 24. Tied for the votes is obviously reason number 1. KB and Greg Adams have the two biggest individual moments of anyone on the list. I think that means something too.
  20. We have had the Orca for 23 years now. (tinkered with the colors a bit but the logo itself remained) I like that. The Canucks have come under criticism for changing too much. My personal favorite is the skate because that's what I grew up with. The Orca is the best however. Multiple generations have now grown up with it so I say keep that ball rolling! I understand that Orca Bay is no longer involved with the team but I think only the most hard core of hometown fans care about that. I would say that most people just think of Orcas and the west coast of BC as going together. I'd love to see some classic jerseys rotated through as alternates however. One year do Millionaires another year do the skate and so on. Fun for the fans and good business for the team as people buy jerseys from various eras each year. Hey Canucks!! Wanna give me a job!??
  21. Vote Doug Lidster! All of the good things being said about Bieksa in this thread, are true! This list is a positive one for me. I vote Lidster because of the things that HE did for this team.
