  1. Kearns is my pick but I don't want Bieksa to beat out Lidster so I didn't give him a vote this round. I voted him last round though!
  2. Vote Lidster, I want to vote Kearns but I want Lidster over the rest so I'll put my support behind him for this round haha. Democratic strategy lol Nominate Skriko! If this list was my own personal favorites then Courtnall would already be on it. I think it's time for Skriko though.
  3. If Jarko Ruutu gets in then I'm becoming a Bruins fan... Outrageous!! Don't do that to me haha
  4. We'll have to see! I think as the more obvious names are out of the way then people won't be so set on who they're voting for. You might have an easier time convincing people as the list goes on. Okay I think I'm ready to vote!
  5. Hey! Easy now! You know very well that hockey is a team game and playoff points are contingent on your team actually getting there. B-Mo has 11 playoff points in 1 year. Lidster had 12 in his career. (since we're comparing apples and oranges haha) Morrisons 11 points that year are also better than the career playoff production of Connor McDavid. Seriously though I'm struggling with the vote this round. Still trying to decide lol
  6. Wow I'm surprised the modern stick in rink is doing so well. I like it but I do prefer the original and thought it would dominate.
  7. You're right! I remember that too. I believe GSP has also spoken about loving to fight and test himself against the best despite admittedly being afraid. He's an interesting guy to say the least.
  8. I'm not sure if it's the actual fighting/competing that they don't like. I think it's all the stuff that comes with it. Media and trash talk probably being at the top of the list. I know that some fighters don't like actually having the belt as well. They feel like they're always either defending the belt or being pressured to do so. They never get a break from it.
  9. The 40-50 rankings are what I'm looking forward to the most! That's where it gets more and more subjective. It already is haha
  10. It's not "Behind The Mask" it's "Behind The Goal Line" with Kelly Hrudey.
  11. Boudrias is another one who has been in the back of my mind haha. The votes are getting more and more tricky. You're pretty big on Oddleifson eh? I'm doing to have to do some digging and get more familiar with him. I think for me what penalizes him is that he was a winger rather than a center (maybe I put more importance on that than I should) and he never hit 20 goals in a season. The intangibles on and off the ice for both Kurtenbach and Horvat are also well documented. I just want to be sure that we are not penalizing some of the more modern players just because we have not had a couple of decades to think about them. (as you know I am also concerned that older players will be forgotten lol) Pettersson and Hughes also are troubling for me. I want to automatically dismiss them both for having such small sample sizes. On the other hand I would say that no rookies have ever taken the city by storm like them since Bure and Linden before that. It would be an interesting documentary to watch if for whatever reason Hughes and Petey had their careers end right now. (depressing but interesting lol)
  12. Oh yeah and I vote Morrison! (Similar reasons as Deb for Bieksa) Nominate Gino!
  13. I get that Orland was first and that's important but it was 4 seasons and he wasn't playing the full seasons. If we're talking about Orland Kurtenbach then I think I certainly have a case to be made for Bo! No?
  14. Salo would have much better stats if he was able to stay healthy. He wasn't able to though so that's why I personally have not voted for him yet. He was only able to play 70 or more games in a season for us twice unfortunately. B-Mo played six 82 game seasons in a row. He had to play extra games in the playoffs 5 of those 6 years. Big part of why he got my vote. When we needed him he was always there! However I will say that if I was voting for Sami, I would not be basing it on stats alone. He was a very solid in our own zone as well.
  15. It's so hard to quantify intangibles. Gino is tricky, Snepsts was tricky (less so for me but same idea) Morrison is tricky. It's part of my argument with Bo Horvat as well. All part of why I'm loving this series though! Fun conversations for sure. I feel like I'm learning about a team that I already felt so close to. As for your discussion on enforcers. Did any of them have bras whipped at them? That's what I thought! Jeff Cowan baby! lol
  16. I would have Chris Oddleifson a fair bit lower personally. I am admittedly less familiar with his intangibles however. I know that Horvat is the guy who gets the hard match-ups for us but still consistently puts up 20 goals or more per year. HE IS SUCCESSFUL WITH LOUIS ERIKSSON (drops the mic) haha jk I also have to admit to you that I'm still irritated by my Ryan O'Reilly experience. Loved and cheered him on for 3 years in Buffalo then the next year in St. Louis I had to listen to "wow can you believe this guy??" Well yes I can... been watching it for 3 years now. The difference is that now he's on a good team. That's what I think we're looking at with Bo. As soon as this team is good (and we were getting there) he will really shine.
  17. Oooh first time that I disagree with you in a strong way haha. Bo already has 6 seasons and 446 GP under his belt for us. The beacon of hope during some very bad years. The captain of the team as we were/are starting to come out of those years. I still have some guys ahead of Bo mind you. 40's is too far if you ask me. Pettersson I'll have to give some thought. VERY small sample size.
  18. Amazing how fast the game evolves. Check out the 1972 summit series and compare it to this. Just 10 years later and it looks so much more intense. My younger mans eyes would much rather watch this.
  19. Vote Brendan Morrison Nominate Gino! I have been having a lot of fun going down memory lane but I'm starting to get the itch to throw Bo Horvat in to the discussion.
  20. This is a fantastic post and should be required reading for anyone born after 1985! You know until you said it here, I had actually forgotten about Barry Pederson. The 1989 series against the Flames is another one that I have several of the games recorded. There was this skinny kid. Trevor something or another. He was pretty darned good in that series! Where was Barry for that series though? Was he injured? As a side note. I swear every time we play the Flames in the playoffs it is a crazy series. Win or lose we're always in for a ride when we play them. I was hoping to see it again this year
  21. I vote Morrison! Nominate Ronning!
  22. My guess is that a lot of people have forgotten Sundstrom. How was he received at the time? Do you know? I looked up his 91 point season and I see that he was still outside the top 20 in NHL scoring. I'm wondering if his accomplishments were overshadowed by the superstars of the 80's. Even on the Canucks we had guys like Smyl, Tanti and Gradin. Did they maybe overshadow him to a degree as well? I am legitimately asking as I wasn't around at the time and don't know.
  23. I vote Brendan Morrison! I agree with the points AJ made about him. Also I just love the work that he's done in the community and what a great local guy he is. Nominate Cliff Ronning!
  24. Ed Jovanovski just gets in!! Woohoo! I feel like that's appropriate for him some how.
