  1. I want a second first rounder! I want it so that we can swing for the fences with Caufield haha! The other first rounder would be used on a "safer" pick. Go get one JB!
  2. Nothing to see here but for the sake of argument... Quinn Hughes can suck it if the choice was between him and Petey (I love Hughes by the way) Trade the guy for a big haul if that was to be the choice.
  3. This is cool to look at. Thanks for digging this up! Looks like more was known about Boeser than I remember but still not many who had him at our pick. Nice to see the Canucks get some draft wins lately. Many will remember the dark times of draft. Patrick White...
  4. I was talking to a friend today and we were discussing the past five drafts and talking about who we would have drafted at the time. (We both would have missed out on Petey haha) 2015 was a weird one because we had a lower pick at 23. I can remember that I was not happy because I had no idea who Boeser even was. If I had been GM that year I believe we would have ended up with Oliver Kylington (sorry guys!) Can any of you remember who you were hoping to pick at #23 that year?
  5. For me he needs to keep it up for the season. Pockets of success mid-season isn't enough. Week to week consistency is what I'm looking for (the odd stinker is inevitable and excusable to a degree)
  6. I'm pretty sure it has been unpinned for quite some time now no? Thanks for bumping it though! Contributions from good folks such as yourself will keep this beautiful thread alive and well!
  7. For some reason the weird comparison that keeps popping in my mind is Patrick Kane if he played defense. The way they skate and move with the puck reminds me of each other but in different areas of the ice due to position.
  8. That's fair and I agree. I have absolutely nothing negative to say about Hughes right now. Saying that everyone would take Dahlin over Hughes is not a critisism. Would you have taken Hughes 2nd at the time or just in hindsight? Now that his hunger to win games has surprised people? If so I would say that you are alone. The 2018 draft thread is there to flip through if you want to see where peoples heads were at. People here started pumping Hughes as a top 2 guy AFTER he was ours. I stand by my statement. It's a pretty clear example of homerism.
  9. Everyone would have taken Dahlin even the people trying to make the case for Hughes. People didn't start talking about Hughes being às good or better until AFTER we drafted him. One of the more obvious examples of homerism out there.
  10. Oh yeah just his size and shot. No big deal lol Dahlin has fairly significant advantages over Hughes in both of these areas. Dahlin is also about half a year younger than Hughes. I love Quinn Hughes! I'm very hyped on him. However I don't think he's quite as close to Dahlin as some of you apparently do.
  11. Interesting. There's a lot of nice looking possible future pairings now but I personally really like the idea of a Juolevi - Woo shut down pair. I think OJs simple calm style of play allows Woo to be more agressive and physical. They would also eat up a lot of d-zone face offs so that Hughes doesn't have to. That's my own personal vision of the future anyway.
  12. Yep I agree with this. Sergachev is pretty much as he was advertised. OJ is as well. A lot of scouts were saying that OJ wasn't going to 'wow' people right away and to be patient with him. OJ is going to be a really nice piece of our team. Good skating, good size and very good at threading passes.
  13. Half asleep still? Haha For OJ I am staying patient as he is not a flashy player. We all knew that going in. He is going to play a refined game that should and is taking some time to develop. Forwards historically develop quicker so I was not surprised or disappointed when some of them were playing NHL games right away. Sergachev was a risk. Everyone knew he COULD be the best D in the draft. I would say we missed on Serg but I am ok with that one because there was no way to know
  14. Jack Hughes baby!!! Wooo! Seriously though I don't think we'll be THAT bad next year lol
  15. I believe I saw you post something similar to this somewhere else and it did get me thinking (well done) Can you explain a little more? In most cases there are 2 or 3 players getting points on the same goal. In that case would we not just tally up goal totals using your logic?
  16. Good idea but unfortunately Virtanen will be busy playing on my imaginary line with Lind and Gaudette lol It's cool though cause Dahlen will be playing with Gadj and EP!
  17. Goaltending was a big problem for The Rockets unfortunately.
  18. I could see that. I'm not saying that Lind is a straight up Hansen clone but I do see that same kind of drive. Habs scoring Higgins is actually a pretty good comparison. I might have to steal it haha
  19. I can see why you feel that way but here's my current line of thinking. Kole Lind very much reminds me of Jannik Hansen (from what I've seen) I think Hansen would have had quite a bit better stats if he could just finish plays. No way Lind has that same superhuman ability to hit the post. Right?
  20. Ah that makes sense. Thank you I always valued the younger players but this makes me re-think that.
  21. Nice! That brings some cheer to my day lol
  22. Are Lind and Gadj old enough to play for Utica? I didn't think they were for some reason
  23. No kidding lol That people are still talking about this shows how slow canuck news is right now.
  24. I agree completely He has the tools to be a tremendous (I didn't want to say 'real good' lol) defenseman already. He just needs to get physically stronger and more explosive. As well as probably a small learning curve for the NHL
