  1. I’d like us to look at Nick Ritchie but idk if that’s realistic or not.
  2. I’m not missing your point at all. I’m saying that I still don’t think it’s worth using a roster spot on him. You’re saying that you watched him a lot last year and still think he should play about 5 minutes per night… Yikes I fully understand wanting to protect our young players. Just don’t think that Lucic is much of deterrent at this point. A guy that opposing players almost look forward to playing against these days. I would rather we have a full roster of guys that can take a regular shift. Guys who will all stick up for one another rather than relying on one enforcer.
  3. I understand the people who would like to add a player of his type. But I don't think any of them realize exactly how bad he has become. Plays go to die with him. He has absolutely no hands left. He is rarely able to get to the front of the net anymore. Same with the forecheck. He's just too slow. (He was never fast to begin with but he's REALLY slow now). His advanced stats have been on a steady decline as well. We can't get off to a bad start next year. Lucic is a guy who can actively contribute to team tank lol. Just not worth it for the 4ish fights that he might provide. Is it really THAT hard to find (or develop) another 4th liner with some size and grit?
  4. Well damn. I’m glad that you’re alright. I hope nothing too serious happened and that you’re able to return home soon. I understand wanting some gritty guys who can play a heavy game. Lucic is too far past it to provide that imo. He’d have his moments I suppose but I think he’d cost us (on the ice) more than he’d help. So you would really only be signing him for fights. He’s been averaging about four fights per year for quite a while now. Just don’t think it’s worth having him on the ice for that. Perhaps a guy like Nick Ritchie could be a viable alternative?
  5. None of the top ten teams in terms of fighting majors made it of the first round this year. Seattle had the most fights of any team to win a round but they ranked 14th in that category. Well outside of the top ten. The majority of teams that won a round were near the very bottom of the league. We don’t need a plug simply for fighting.
  6. Cheers! I am not saying that we don't need toughness in the lineup. I'm saying that we do not need it to the extent that we should be giving Milan Lucic a place on our roster. He hasn't played in Edmonton since the 2019 season. We're now heading in to the 2024 season and he wasn't even very good back then. "toughness and physical intimidation doesnt exist in the NHL" For real... that's what you take from my comments? Because I don't think we should invest in a guy specifically for fighting? Come on now.
  7. And therefore we need Lucic to ensure that we stay near the top since that has been so successful? btw 14 fights is still equal to or more than every conference finalist aside from Florida. Doesn't seem to be that important to good teams.
  8. But again... take our star players out of it and we still have way more fights than most teams. They need to learn to stick up for each other as a team. Not have one tough guy who can't even play. Looch would actively hurt us on the ice.
  9. It makes no difference. If JT fought zero times last year, we are still top 5 in fights. We need players that make an impact between the whistles, not after them.
  10. We were top 5 in the league for fights (only 3 less than first place) last year. Having someone to drop the gloves is not a problem that we need to address. Especially if he hurts the team when he’s out there and is taking up a roster spot.
  11. The problem is that the Canucks are a hockey team. Looch currently sucks at playing hockey. You see the problem? We need our players to all stick up for one another as a team. We don’t need a knuckle dragger that barely plays and is a liability when he does.
  12. Agreed. Holding a high standard for refs is a good thing. It’s the more dramatic comments that I’m referring to. Acting as though this is all part of some grand decades long conspiracy. Or that Florida is being targeted in some kind of way and that’s why Vegas is winning. A bad call is a bad call but some posters are really taking the ball and running with it.
  13. Where was the outrage around officiating when Sam Bennett was allowed to repeatedly punch a defenceless Jake McCabe? Or when he got nothing for choke slamming Matthew Knies? When folks wanted the Leafs to lose then there was no issue with the refs. Suddenly poor officiating isn’t benefiting the team you’re cheering for and it’s the end of the world.
  14. Buffalo could be interested and certainly has the assets to pull it off.
  15. Well hopefully you're right! It's a lot better for the team if Brock has some value. Personally I'm not expecting much in terms of him being moved. Garland I'm a little more on the fence about I suppose but still skeptical. Again, I agree with your overall point however.
  16. The team with multiple sucker punching incidents (other cheap shots as well) throughout the playoffs has their guys singled out in scrums and people are surprised? Lol, when will the injustice ever end? Surely the perennial contenders and conference champs would have no chance if it wasn’t for Bettmans blatant corruption!
  17. I don’t think anyone wants to give us picks/prospects for Boeser or Garland. More likely that teams are asking for sweeteners in order to take on their contracts. Boeser in particular. I think we need to either hope he gets it together or else bite some kind of bullet to move him. Your point stands however. Any move that exclusively helps for next season (but not beyond it) is a complete waste.
  18. Vegas puts up 9 even strength goals in two games and it’s the refs fault lol! Are we actually complaining about how hard done by Tkachuk is?? That little weasel has gotten away with plenty in his career. Zero sympathy that a bad call went against him due to his (well earned) reputation.
  19. Skinners deal is brutal. CC is still cheaper by more than a million. He’ll also be a UFA by the time he’s Skinner’s age. Skinner won’t be a UFA for several more years when he’s 35.
