  1. Now that the smoke has cleared and the season is done dare I say I think Willie should be back next year.  No coach could've gotten this team into the playoffs this year, give him his final year and if there is no improvement in terms of points and special teams then don't renew his contract.

I know my opinion is in the minority but this team is just entering rebuild mode and despite what most think Willie is a great teacher for our youth.

I have a feeling he'll be canned just to appease the masses.

Welp, it's redundant now. He's gone.

I saw Willie send Linden Vey over the boards on an offensive faceoff in the dying moments with the team down by 1 while a well rested Sedin line sat watching on the bench. That's when I knew he had little to no tactical awareness or otherwise he ignored logic so that he could go with his gut. In a a league where the best coaches aggressively pursue line matching and making sure that they have the right personnel out for every possible instance, Willie's nonchalant approach annoyed me to no end.

What I did grow to appreciate this year is the accountability that he impressed on his players. Be a good pro, do the right things like eating right, working hard when your team doesn't have the puck. Make it your responsibility to retrieve the puck and not rely on your teammates to do the heavy lifting defensively.

I want to hold onto Willie, not because I think he will lead this team to glory but because I think he will be instill the right values in our young players. Good coaches are seldom available and are mostly not interested in joining rebuilding teams. The Canucks need to continue stock piling talent and when the team starts looking like an exciting upstart instead of a boring retread, good coaches will be more interested in the job. That's when you fire Willie IMO so that the next guy can help you take a step forward.

Sorry about the long post, I rambled quite a bit lol
