Travis Green never benched anyone when there were many, MANY times he should have, and fans whined. Now we have a coach who's not afraid to scratch players, shake things up, hold them accountable, and fans still whine. We've blown leads in four consecutive games. Do whatever it takes to turn this around. Good on Bruce!

4-3 Canucks Petey GWG -
Another bit that I found really odd that not only irked me at the time but has contributed to the current negativity surrounding Bruce even before the season and this losing streak began ... We all saw what Bruce did last season and the massively positive impact he had on the team. What Bruce did last season , going 32-15-10 after Green's atrocious start was nothing short of amazing. Yet ... as soon as the season ends, we have a President who - rather than celebrate the achievement and throw full support behind the coach - essentially calls Bruce out in public, implying it still wasn't good enough. Like WTF!!!!!!! JR literally handed the media fuel for discontent between management and coach on a silver platter. And then management does nothing to fix our defense when everyone knows exactly what the issue is and has been. And then they don't even fight to keep Brad Shaw, one of the best defensive strategists and developers in the league. The two - JR and PA - rolled into town preaching and asking for patience, completely oblivious that this fanbase has heard "patience" for nearly 8 years. They didn't even read the room right FFS. Yet this is somehow Bruce's fault? BS. At least Bruce came in, executed, and made this team better. Also, let's not forget Bruce's offseason/summer calls to the players in an effort to check in and get the players ready. It was the players who said they were ready to go and had unfinished business.

Agree about the adjustment. There have been new faces behind the bench and on the ice. Think about it. We completely revamped our 4th line ... The only line that was consistently good last season. Also, as we know too well, some guys need more runway to adjust to new team, new city, new team mates, line mates. People really forget that there is an adjustment period. Also, some guys are struggling after some time off. There's a ripple effect from change. Sometimes it's easier to adapt, sometimes it takes time. Even with that in mind, it's absolutely essential that we fix this between 10-15 games, max 20.

Right now I'm 100% on board not blaming the coach.

I never said he's beyond criticism. He's not. After last season, I trust Bruce. He more than earned my trust rather than alarmist derision, scapegoating. He's a winner and we need more of that. We could go back to hiring the Wille Ds and Travis Greens of the hockey world.

Not saying everything works. Garland's a big boy, he can handle it. Bruce isn't perfect but I trust his decision-making. Firing Green was warranted and long overdue. Firing Bruce is not the answer.

So Bruce scratches Garland, plays Burroughs how he sees fit. Sounds like he's doing his job to me. If Garland gets scratched, I trust Bruce in that decision. He's earned that trust.b Obviously we're not privy to their dynamic so I trust Bruce in that decision. I don't immediately jump to alarm, second guess, and pounce on him. Bruce has been one of the best coaches in the game. Garland's a pro, he gets it. He may not like it but he gets it. Especially if it helps the team.

Bruce Boudreau's coaching record is ... 599W - 320L - 126OTL Bruce is also a Jack Adams winner. Bruce is a winner. Just look at his impact on this team last season. He turned us around and got us winning, and nearly into the playoffs. It was a special season in which Bruce deserved more recognition. What Bruce did last season is nothing short of amazing given the never-ending woes of this franchise. Bruce actually did the impossible last year when no one said he'd even come close to the playoffs. He should have been much higher in Jack Adams votes. It was the fact that Bruce brought consistency in his belief and trust in using his stars, plus his open thinking, and ability to consistently keep the game simple that lead to success. He came in and played Petey a lot when Green was reducing his minutes. There was far more of a consistency in effort after Bruce arrived. He knew we COULD rely on Demko if we can improve our game in other areas. He knows how to get players believing in themselves. Look at Hoglander's play this season so far as compared to being in the doghouse last year. He's a completely different player who's giving far more effort and playing hungry. Bruce's scratches and message to him worked. Of course Burroughs is getting rewarded. Look at his play. He's been great and Bruce knows he's reliable. If the players aren't playing to their potential, it's on them to own it and find the solution. It's most certainly Bruce's job to hold them accountable and scratch someone to send them and the team a message. We have no idea why anyone gets scratched. It could very well be for personal reasons. Players are human, have lives, things come up that don't go public. We are losers. We need a winner like Bruce at the helm. He's earned the benefit of the doubt here.
