When I listened to this yesterday, it was really casual and was skipped over quickly. Donnie actually doubled back to get clarification and it was still more casual in "I think" territory. And really, I'd be surprised if they weren't exploring options to move OEL. It's a safe bet for any journalist to assume or speculate on this without being wrong.

I'm still in a wait and see mode with this regime. The talking points are exactly the same as the previous regime - speed, skill, younger, European and college gems, build from the net out, etc, etc. I appreciate their honesty in the recent presser - even if I don't agree on some things. Don't spin and deflect like the previous regime. The problem is ... a lot of us were patient with Benning ... too patient obviously... for 7-8 seasons only to wind up here. So, are we really going to give this regime another 7-8 years? Seriously? That's almost two decades FFS. I think it's ludicrous to ask this fanbase to be THAT patient again. JR came in and said we're a couple years away from consistently contending... that's reasonable. And there's the benchmark fans should be giving this regime. OK, JR and Co. ... put your words into action... get us there ... after the 7-8 we just went through to wind up here. Get it done! We're working with Demko's window and Hughes' contract. Looks to me like you guys really need to make a run sooner than later. Time is more now than asking fans for another 7-8 years.

[Discussion] No Boudreau? Potential Head Coaches 2022/2023
Dr. Crossbar replied to Warhippy's topic in Canucks Talk
100% this. After all the disappointment in recent years, fans are finally feeling great about someone and actually chanting the coach's name in full support. Yet management is taunting him to leave. It's mind-boggling. I said this in another thread... at this moment in time, we don't need "better" ... we need Bruce. They should recognize that. -
Good post! Thanks for adding the proper context. The trust works both ways, though ... management needs to understand that Bruce has earned the trust of fans after the distrust of the past regime going south. Most fans are believing and trusting in Bruce.

What was your favourite moment of the season
Dr. Crossbar replied to spook007's topic in Canucks Talk
This was one of mine ... -
That's not what I meant. Way to overblow it though.

I'm not saying I found it emotional. It's business, black & white ... get it. Certainly understand not paying multiple coaches ... wish we had more of that in previous years. To me, it seems JR is making it a bit more emotional by drawing attention to the possibility of it potentially becoming emotional. And then saying, he hopes Bruce decides sooner than later. It felt off and came across as more tactical than supportive, which I'm not sure was the best way to handle it. But I'd rather him be honest ... so ... These guys are pros and know how to leave the emotion out of it. Still, I would've liked to have seen a bit more support for Bruce. Right now at this moment in time we don't need better, we need Bruce.

Agree. I'm ok with hardball but they also have to recognize the fans and players want Bruce back. Things finally feel good and are good behind the bench. After what we went through for 7-8 years, it's important for management to send a message to fans that they're listening to us as well.

I appreciate JR's honesty and answering many questions directly. Even if it's not what we want to hear. Just be open, honest, and tell fans why things are happening in a certain manner. At least guys like Rutherford and Boudreau provide specific examples based on their experience as compared to the past regime who were way more cagey, careful, and elusive. Right now I think Allvin may fall into the latter ... seems a bit too careful and elusive. Would like him to drop the wall a bit more. I liked the specifics about our defensive needs, zone exits, structure ... also goaltending and the specifics about Spencer Martin and what JR sees in his play. I did find it odd that for the past few months both JR and Allvin said they're waiting to see what they have in this team, leave it up to the players, before they make any decisions yet they also admitted that the team's recent good play had no impact on their long term vision. So, it didn't matter what the players did? Just struck me as odd. I'm a bit concerned about the Boudreau situation. The guy came in, did a phenomenal job, turned us around, had the team in it until the final week, had playoff numbers since he was hired, AND became a massive fan favorite ... yet management is less supportive and more critical of the guy. Then say, they don't want it to get emotional when they're seemingly making it emotional. Again .. just struck me as odd. Still in a wait and see mode with new management. I'm trusting more in JR's experience right now and also have confidence in Boudreau's experience as well.
