  1. I never said it was a conspiracy. Not even close. You're misunderstanding me.
  2. Their agenda with this issue isn't authentic. They've been trying to make an issue out of it for months, looking for anything to grab onto to make this more than what it is.
  3. The media in this city will not stop on this issue until Pettersson actually wants to leave. D&D are back only hours from their summer break and they're back on the drumbeat of making this more of an issue than it is.
  4. Lol ... there's too much opinion in those guys.
  5. The songs in this thread are too cool and edgy. Need more non-offending, vanilla, grocery store.
  6. I found this video of our power play below from February 2023. With Hronek, we have another weapon on the opposite half-wall of Petey plus the point. From this clip, he'd replace Boeser and we'd be running two D ... but Hronek has that deadly shot both from the half-wall and point. Kuz replaces Bo, Miller or Petey takes draws. Man, if Boeser can find that shot again this season, it'll give us more PP options.
  7. Creatively Hughes, Petey, and Miller especially look really comfortable on the PP. They have great chemistry and look dominant when there's more room. I'm guessing they're extremely confident in relying on and know where the other is going to be. That cycle to Petey on the half-boards, and cross pass to Miller down below. I wonder what a Hronek point shot looks like.
  8. Well, we know what a lack of systems look like, so more systems exposure from the likes of Gonchar, Sedins, and Tocchet certainly can't hurt. They should be able to tighten and sure up any weaknesses. I agree, they do have it all covered. I am curious how Hronek will be used between PP1 and 2.
  9. My thought is that you can't discount him completely - the numbers are there and he was part of it - but last year's PP was one of the only areas where our natural talents and chemistry seemed to click organically. Will be interesting to see how King does with the Wild. Although their PP wasn't far behind ours in the top 15.
  10. Everyone's different as far as coaching "ability" versus playing experience. There are the Gulutzans of the hockey world and there are the Sedins/Gonchar types. They both bring their own unique and natural skillsets. But there's no doubt that Gonchar and the Sedins have invaluable experience to teach and learn from. Hronek's got that shot we've been missing. He's going to be a legit weapon for both units.
  11. Now you're speaking my language. That should be his goal song ... Mmma ... mmma ... mmma ... Myyyy Hronek!
  12. We need a Hronek version ... with beards, wait and sees, happy faces, Hroneks ... the whole she-bang!!!
  13. It's going to be interesting to see. Tocchet actually lead both Colorado and Pittsburgh power plays when he was an assistant. Add the Sedins, this could be magic.
  14. So, last season, despite our defensives woes, PK, and horrible goaltending, we still had a great power play. In fact, our power play was ranked 11th in the entire league. Gone is Jason King in favor of Tocchet, Gonchar, and the Sedins running the power play by committee ... with the players input. What do you think of how the power play will be run this year by committee as compared to last season? Will it improve or decline? I tend to think ... don't try to fix what isn't broken but all of these guys are winners as compared to King's track record. Here's what Tocchet said in his recent interview ... Sportsnet: Your coaching staff changed slightly when Jason King, who had worked for both Boudreau and Travis Green before you, was let go in the summer. So, who will run the power play? Tocchet: Sergei Gonchar and the twins (Daniel and Henrik Sedin), and I'll take a big chunk of it for now, and then we'll go from there. I'll be honest with you, I'm going to really rely on that core group of guys on the powerplay to come up with ideas.
  15. I'd rather see it privately funded to get it done and run with a private facility. But if we're talking about multipurpose for the public, it opens up the discussion of percentage of public funds. Especially if there's multi-public needs in that area that could be built into a facility. But like canuck73_3 said ... the funds for entertainment/athletic are separate from the social issues. We're talking about building a practice rink and potentially multipurpose public facility I'd like to see the Acquilinis partner with a company like Rogers (or other major) to shoulder most of the funding and sponsorship. Then set up a separate ongoing fund/organization to help issues in that area or city - homelessness, housing, addiction, etc, so any public funds used are offset by this fund that addresses those issues.
  16. Where have all the good D gone And how can we defy the odds? Where's our right-handed Hercules To prove he's not a fraud? Isn't there a white knight who can be a fiery D Late at night, I toss and I turn And I dream of what we need We need a Hronek I'm holding out for a Hronek 'cause the season's in sight
  17. Exactly. The quickest and best solution will likely need to be private and just get it done.
  18. The necessity is for me to say ... no argument here. It's bush league what we're doing. Especially the Britannia situation that Corrado was talking about. Can't be doing that in your home city. We need a centralized state of the art facility. The need and necessities are obvious. Like DeNiro said earlier, though, it comes with a slew of complexities, easier said than done, but it is in the pipeline. They just need to find a solution and not have this drag on and on as the team improves.
  19. The question asked to Corrado was ... Is it absolutely necessary now for NHL teams to have their own standalone practice facilities? Corrado: Yeah, 100%.
  20. Another good take and breakdown just this morning of the issues, obstacles, logistics, and reasons why it's a necessity. The issues are in how this gets done, financially, and where. The solution is becoming the necessity.
  21. That's an entirely separate conversation. Not even remotely where I was going with my post. I was simply highlighting the facts, as mentioned by Corrado. It seems people were confused as to why this issue is being raised. Corrado has a good take for those confused. Even the part about us not holding ourselves to an NHL standard. It's all true. Now, if you ask me my opinion on the timing and why it's not done or whether it should be done ... well, those are different issues. Of course the climate isn't the best or most friendly to be taking on such a project. Doesn't take away from the fact that we need one.
  22. Corrado has a good take on the whole practice facility issue from a players perspective. Other teams do have an advantage when it takes longer to do simple and several drills, we have to travel to multiple rinks, some of those rinks are smaller than minor hockey, and more. There are more obstacles in our way just to practice. We're not really holding ourselves to an NHL standard. Corrado's take is off the top of the segment ...
  23. Well, I have to say ... Hirose to the occasion!
