  1. This forum is incredibly active. Going to other NHL forums actually makes me sad with how empty and inactive they are. I feel very lucky to be able to come on here just about any time of day and see updates within the last hour (and usually within minutes) on nearly every current discussion. This is a great little corner of the internet.
  2. Islanders up 2-1 against NJ. Horvat has 0 points and is -1. I hope Bo has success there but this trade is looking better for us with every passing game.
  3. You are right. Those stats are wrong. That will teach me not to trust our new AI overlords! Thankfully, my point still stands! Yay me! I manually tallied the wins using hockey-reference.com for the last 5 seasons. Wins in last 20 games: 2017/2018 - 7 2018/2019 - 9 2019/2020 - 9 2020/2021 - 7 2021/2022 - 10 They have not gone on any sort of sustained run at the end of any of the past 5 seasons, so this is not something the Canucks have a habit of doing.
  4. ChatGPT. It’s very good at these kinds of statistical queries.
  5. People keep posting this inaccurate narrative that the Canucks keep going on meaningless late season runs and it’s not true. They’ve done it once in the last 10 years, and that was last year, in a desperate bid to make the playoffs. That never looked sustainable to me. Look up their record in the last 20 games of previous seasons before that. They’ve been under .500 every single year going back to 2013. It drives me nuts how people keep repeating this nonsense. They are going on their second late season run in the last decade this year, that is true. But there is no reason to believe, based on past history, that it’s not sustainable because there isn’t any past history to go on! This is a new year with new management, coaches and lots of new players. People have every reason to be optimistic!
  6. There's no way Tocchet let's this team blow multiple multi-goal leads to start next season. We keep scoring, but now we're playing real defence. It'll carry over. Excited for next year.
  7. Miller with a burst of speed. He’s looking so much better than earlier this season. I’m convinced he had a nagging injury.
  8. To be fair, if you combine all our other defencemen in to one, I think that adds one more to the total.
  9. Gotta say it’s nice to see a coach that can skate and keep up with the boys, instead of a wobbly Santa Claus!
  10. Now this is a GDT! Nice work. The team is on such a roll, I’m expecting another win. Love the wins, but kinda hoping for a hard-fought loss. It’s a weird stretch of the season to be a Canucks fan!
  11. Agreed, back to hockey talk! That was a fun game, our superstars looked like superstars and Hronek was quietly impressive. He made quick decisions and his passes were crisp. I like him a lot so far. I think the reason these threads go off the rails can be summed up nicely. I know I'm guilty of it!
  12. If you're not OK advocating for the fact that it's perfectly normal and OK to be gay, then you're on the wrong side of history. Fun fact: a study found that 14% of seagulls are gay. It's normal across the animal kingdom. Nothing special about us humans!
  13. It's a slippery slope. Is it OK for players to refuse to wear jerseys honoring indigenous or black people, or women? Nobody has been dumb enough to try it, but the potential is there if players are allowed to opt out of the pride jersey. Players have to wear the jerseys that the team has selected for them, they do it all the time.
  14. Honestly, the Canucks could win a cup in a couple of years and Drance would still find a way to point out that the team didn't do it "the right way" and that their run of Stanley Cup wins won't be sustainable. He's just a blowhard know-it-all.
  15. I'm all for this. Bieksa is a funny and smart hockey guy, and has a bit of an edge while still being likeable. I don't want to see someone who's too polished and professional - the color guy needs to be a real character.
  16. Man I love listening to Canucks games with Shorty and Cheech, and I'll miss Garrett a lot. He was never the most insightful or analytic color guy, but he is likeable, relatable, and funny and just makes me feel at home listening to the game. To me, together, they ARE the sound of the Canucks in my adult years, much like Jim Robson and Tom Larscheid were the sound of the Canucks in my younger days. Definitely feeling sad about this.
  17. He opted out of wearing the jersey on pride night and went on to further say he could not support that kind of behaviour or lifestyle.
  18. There’s consequences for actions. He made a statement, and the fans are making a statement in return.
