  1. It’s all good. I was a dummy though. It’s so easy to jump to conclusions based on personal bias and very little actual information. We all do it. Lesson learned!
  2. Honestly I knew nothing about Tocchet as a coach other than the fact that he coached in Arizona and had a pretty poor record there, and I heard he had some kind of disagreement with OEL. Based solely on that, I had him pegged as kind of a jerk and a mediocre coach at best. The more I hear him talk, and the more I see the team playing harder, smarter, and better defensively, the more I like him. He's not the most eloquent guy, but I think he's got really good hockey sense - he knows what it takes to win in the NHL and it seems to be translating to his coaching.
  3. The Ducks are truly terrible and the Canucks have been on a nice little roll here, so... we'll probably lose. It's the Canucks way.
  4. I don't think we completely disagree on this one... I'm just being unnecessarily diplomatic about it!
  5. I would argue that while our backup goalies have been far from great, at least part of that poor save percentage is due to the shambolic play of the defense in front of them. We’ve given up so many grade A scoring chances that any goalie would have trouble stopping. Lately, those defensive breakdowns have become less egregious and Demko has also been playing great, which I hope the team can maintain in to next season.
  6. I had an idea! What about having 2 separate PGTs!? One being the Debbie Downer edition for all the hard-core tankers, and one for those of us who still get some enjoyment out of watching the team compete hard every night. It'd be interesting to see which thread gets more posts
  7. Are you asking the players to throw games? Or asking the coaches to do their jobs badly? They iced half an AHL roster including an AHL goalie and then distributed ice time pretty evenly. What more do you expect them to do for team tank? Do you want them to sit out Hughes and Petey and Miller every night? Or are you mad that they didn’t trade away enough players to make the team genuinely terrible? I’m very curious how you’d go about getting a group of highly motivated professional hockey players to lose every game.
  8. Feels very different to me this season, but I could be wrong! I don't like being pessimistic, but I see lots of people like you are and that's fine. We'll see where the team is at in a couple of years, and until then... cheers!
  9. It feels like we're building something more sustainable this time. Tocchet's systems are definitely more structured and low-event, which has led to way fewer defensive lapses. And we're still scoring at a good clip because we have some awesome players. With a little more experience and a couple more good trades/signings/buyouts/draft picks this team could go on a run.
  10. This is such a confusing time of year. I feel guilty for enjoying wins! But knowing that we're winning despite icing a pretty weak roster because we have a few of the best players in the league who don't know how to lose is damn encouraging. Bedard Shmedard, we already have our superstars! But seriously, can we also have Bedard please?
  11. The mood is festive in here after that Toronto game! That was the best game of the year, and really lifted everyone’s spirits it seems. Hockey is good for the soul
  12. Are the details of "future considerations" worked out ahead of time, but not reported? Or this just a fancy way of saying you are trading for nothing?
  13. Omg that second clip is one of the greatest things I’ve ever watched!
  14. Wow I had to turn off 650 radio before I fell into Drance’s black hole of negativity, never to escape. He is 110% convinced that the team is doomed for all eternity after this trade deadline. He might be right, but it’s also possible that more good moves are coming over the summer, and that we’ll have a fun, playoff contending team next year. As a long time fan, I have to believe that’s a possibility.
  15. Absolutely, I always thought he had lots of potential, he was quick, put in a good effort, was physical at times, seemed motivated, was a good interview, but then... nothing much happened when he was on the ice.
