Not that I disagree, but I just have a feeling you could be a bit biased. -

I already thought we came out ahead on the trade for Horvat, but winning this game really cemented it for me. It's purely symbolic, and there's a few years to go before we really know how this trade worked out, but it's feeling pretty positive right now. -

Canucks might be the funnest team in the NHL this season! -
[Signing] Islanders re-sign Bo Horvat
Strawbone replied to -Vintage Canuck-'s topic in Trades, Rumours, Signings
Man that highlight made me feel good. Bo looked so pumped up to get his first as an Islander. And he knows that he at least has a chance at the playoffs, and that he can do his part to get them there. He seems like a such a good, humble guy who really bore the burden of being the captain of a losing team in this market. I hope he's happy in NY. -
I'm just here to see how many morons pick "Walk as a UFA"
-
Gotcha! Mine looks a farting rat on second glance. We can all agree he has a funny name though.
-
Haha, that's funny man. Small correction though, it'sOOOOOOOOOO Only in Finland is a Y actually an O I guess.

I will not be surprised at all if they go 4-0 on this road trip, I think a big weight has been lifted off their shoulders with the endless speculation about Bo being traded finally over, and a new guy on the first line, and the new coach bump. I will also not be surprised if they go 0-4 because, let's face it, this team has let in 5 goals in almost half their games this season! Let's hope that stops.

So coach T called out the team "soft", who will be our team's enforcer then?
Strawbone replied to tan's topic in Canucks Talk
I don't think he was calling the team soft in terms of not having an enforcer, more that they were soft on the puck, not winning a lot of battles, and not initiating contact. I'll give that game a pass, it was a real stinker but the team was going through so much at that time. Hopefully they get back in the groove starting tonight and play a good game (but lose by 1 goal). -
They have to know how bad our D is. I think it's just the hardest area of a team to fix, with a scarcity of good available defensemen, particularly on the right side, combined with some of the awful contracts the team is saddled with. I'm impatient too, but I think we're 2 years out from possibly having even a mid-pack defense core, which hopefully is good enough if we can maintain a decent scoring pace and get better goaltending.

That is some very neat printing!

Playing well with some close games and a mix of wins and losses should keep us in the bottom 10. I think our goaltending alone will ensure a few more losses than wins, which is fine since we know that a strong next season from Demko will fix those woes. I’m genuinely excited to watch this team start down a new path. Moving on from Bo was sad but I think necessary. I feel like the future is bright.

What's The Deal On Demko? (Discussion)
Strawbone replied to Nuxfanabroad's topic in Proposals and Armchair GM'ing
With his injury history and very lackluster play this season, I just don't see Demko having much trade value right now. I think teams would need to see another prolonged stretch of really good play from him before he's worth trading. And at that point, if he's playing great, I'd rather keep him! -
League wide cap issue solutions
Strawbone replied to Mustard Tiger's topic in General Hockey Discussion
Feels so greedy. I just don't think 8 year contracts are good for the sport, and you end up with teams saddled with huge contracts on non-effective players, and it drags the whole team down. Just thinking about JT Miller's last couple of years on his contract makes me sad. I don't see how players can't feel bad for getting paid $7m when they are skating around with walkers and just trying to stay out of the way of the young'uns flying around the ice. -

7/8 year contracts need to go. It inevitably leads to teams paying big $$ for non-productive years and it just ties up too much money for too long. Contracts should be 4/5 years max.
