Can we get back to playing hockey? All-star week is booooooring! I'm itching for some real hockey again. I'm so curious to see what this team looks like after the coaching change and without our long-time captain. Quite possibly like garbage, but a part of me thinks that other guys are really going to step up now and get this team on an upward trajectory. No matter what, with our AHL goaltending and porous defense we will lose enough games to stay in the hunt for a top-5 pick.

I have a friend who dedicates much of her free time outside of work as a vet tech to finding and returning lost dogs in the area. She has spent entire nights in the cold and rain walking through woods, setting up cameras and traps, and sometimes taking weeks to find a single pup. It's hard but rewarding work, and doesn't pay a dime, so I'm happy there's folks like you out there making the world a little better for the critters we share our planet with. I made a small donation and am looking forward to a progress update!

My brain skipped right over the [Proposal] text you bastard!

If we really hit on every one of these three assets and our 1st round pick becomes a top-pairing D-man, Raty becomes a 2nd line centre, and Beauvillier becomes a useful middle-6 winger or is traded for another good player, then we win this trade easily. It could happen, and I think the odds are better than 10%. So I'm going to keep believing that at some point this damn team is going to get some damn luck and that one of these damn deals is really going to work out in our favour.

I’m happy with this trade. The team needed a big change. Bo was a very good player, but not a star, and getting a mid-1st round pick and a good prospect C and middle-6 winger seems fair. I’m sure there are more moves coming, and I’m excited to watch a different team down the stretch and over the next few years.

I miss the days when I actually had to wait for the newspaper to read the latest Canucks updates. I may have rose-coloured glasses on, but I recall the coverage being more in-depth and less sensationalistic than in this social-media era.

Is a double order of cheesetits two or four cheesetits? -
[Signing] Canucks re-sign Andrei Kuzmenko
Strawbone replied to -Vintage Canuck-'s topic in Trades, Rumours, Signings
Kuz signing an extension with us makes me feel better about the direction of the team. The fact that he did it shortly after Tocchet was hired might be a sign that he approves of the hire and thinks that the team will get better with him coaching. Or maybe he just likes the city and fat new paychecks. -
[Signing] Canucks re-sign Andrei Kuzmenko

With Kuz re-signed and Gonchar on the staff, we're slowly getting more Russian influence on the team. Personally, I like that. Maybe I'm just biased because I have fond memories of Bure and Larionov, and I really like Podz, Kuz, and Mik. Russian players seem to have real confidence and swagger. Any other Russian players out there we could maybe get back in trades? Maybe we can become a destination for Russian talent. -
I find it's generally a good idea to spend more than 8 seconds thinking up an idea for a thread and then posting and proofreading it. But that's just me.

[PGT] Vancouver Canucks at Seattle Kraken | Jan. 25, 2023

I wonder just how committed a 73 year old who's already won a bunch is going to be to seeing this difficult task through. -

Well that was putrid. Hopefully just the emotions of the past couple weeks catching up with them. Seattle is a better team, but they looked like they were in a completely different league than us tonight. The Canucks aren't THAT bad, and we'll see some closer losses down the stretch. -
I don’t understand how the Canucks can be so bad at basic hockey stuff they teach in pee wee. They can’t connect on passes, they can’t get pucks out of their zone, they can’t enter the offensive zone with possession, they can’t stop giving up blatant odd man rushes, and they can’t forecheck. It’s comically bad some games, like tonight. I’m honestly not sure if the Abbotsford Canucks would fare worse than this against the Kraken.
