  1. At this point, I fully expect to be disappointed if we trade him OR re-sign him lol.
  2. This thread is easily the highlight of my week. Endless entertainment!
  3. Crazy video of the shootout: https://streamable.com/cnal52 I never thought I'd see something like this in Victoria. Gotta say I'm impressed with the quick and strong police response, and that no civilians were injured. Those cops rushing in were damn brave. Unlike the recent school shooting in Texas - that still boils my blood. I hope all the officers make speedy recoveries, although I fear with that many shots fired, there may be serious or even fatal injuries.
  4. I keep having to scroll up to see if I'm really in the right thread lol. The more I think about it, the more I think Kuzmenko might be one of the more successful transitions from the KHL. He could be playing with the best centers he's every played with, and I'm gonna go out on a limb and predict 30 goals
  5. Ummm… https://www.collinsdictionary.com/us/dictionary/english/cooze
  6. I don’t think it was a fluke. He’s a good player who worked hard and had a great year. I do think it was a statistical outlier though. Only time will tell!
  7. I just don’t see Miller repeating this year again. Seemed like everything went right for him offensively. I think he’s back to 80 points next season, then 70’s and 60’s over the next 5 years as other players get more prominent roles. It’ll never happen because NHL salaries are silly but I’d do a max 5x$7.5m deal for the good of the team.
  8. Ummm… can I be T-bone instead?? I picked my username one very late and drunken night years ago. No idea what I was thinking lol.
  9. Going from $75K a year to $100K a year would make a huge difference for me, I would have so much more disposable income. I'd probably be driving a Porsche instead of a Volkswagen! But going from $7.5M to $10M? There'd be no difference to my lifestyle at all. I could have everything I'd ever want either way. Maybe I just don't party hard enough lol.
  10. To be fair, I am a mild-mannered IT analyst and not a hyper-competitive pro athlete, so I’m coming at this from a very different angle lol. The amount of money these guys make is all so ludicrous, squabbling over a million here or there seems silly!
  11. I know it never works this way... but I would gladly take a home-town discount to play for a team and city that I love. I genuinely couldn't care less about making $50 million vs $60 million dollars. Both are an order of magnitude more money than I'd need to live very very comfortably for the rest of my life. And yet almost no pro athlete seems to make that decision. You're still making craploads of money, and the team then has more money to spend on other good players, which means you get to play on a better team and are more likely to win the cup. Imagine if Brock and Bo signed for $5m and Miller for $6m. The team could then afford to bring in a couple more really good players and be super competitive for years. Seems like a good tradeoff to me. I'd rather be slightly less filthy rich and play on a successful team! Sigh... a fellow can dream, right?
  12. Bad, yes. Disaster? Nah, I reserve that for the likes of Arizona lol
  13. 50 points seems like a reasonable goal for Kuzmenko, especially if he gets some decent power play time. Only 5 Canucks had more than 50 points last season so it should net him a spot in the top 6. God I hope he works out! Seems like a hard-working guy who really wants to play in the NHL and isn't just dipping his toes in the water. I have a good feeling about this. And Podz might flourish with another countryman on the team. I would not be surprised if we snagged another Russian player now as well. Next season can't come soon enough...
  14. We are now 0.0000000001% closer to our first Stanley Cup!
  15. I lost my dad earlier this year after a year-long illness where he was essentially bed-ridden. As incredibly sad as it is to lose a parent, seeing them suffer for so long is really hard and there's an element of relief when they pass, in my dad's case peacefully at home in bed. It's made me reflect on being the best dad and best person that I can be now that he's gone. Maybe Brock will come back with renewed motivation, playing in his dad's memory. Wishing the family all the best.
  16. Haha, that reminds me... has anyone watched the new Kids in the Hall show on Amazon Prime? The second sketch (bank robbery) is something I did NOT need to see!
  17. Happy day! This had to happen, and it did! Right now, he's the coach this team needs.
  18. Pulling for Shesterkin. Matthews and McDavid are amazing talents, but I find it impossible to like them. They both rub me the wrong way (metaphorically speaking).
  19. This interview sounds almost too good to be true (for us true Boudreau believers at least!). It makes it sound like a formality that he's coming back. I don't think he's given any other interviews since his end of season presser so I'm surprised this site got an exclusive scoop.
  20. I don't know if my patience has worn irrationally thin... this team has had only a handful of really good seasons and playoff runs in over 50 years! So many bad seasons we've had to endure. Now if you referring only to the current management group, then yeah... I'll give them a couple of years to get us deep in the playoffs. Make it happen!
