[Rumour] J.T. Miller Trade/Contract Talks
Strawbone replied to Podzilla's topic in Trades, Rumours, Signings
I can't say I envy the Canucks management team right now. Re-signing Miller long-term for big $$ could work out amazingly well if he maintains his current crazy pace for a few more years, or he could quickly revert to being a 70 point or less, good but not amazing, player. And trading him could result in the haul of a lifetime, with all the returns working out and becoming a huge part of a cup run. Or the return could be some decent players that never make the kind of impact that Miller has had. There's no way he takes less than 8x$9m now, right? Man those are such big numbers... -
(Discussion) Bruce Calls it out! Our Decade long Issue.

Lammikko for captain? But seriously, I like Bo, he's a super useful player, but I don't think he's the captain to lead us to a cup. Could we strip him of the captaincy but keep him on the team without causing a rift? How often do players lose their captaincy but stay with the team? -
Everyone else is winning. Playoff hopes are over. This sucks.

I hate to admit it, but I agree. I like Bo, but when was the last time he dragged this team in to the fight and carried the team to a big win? He’s had a good long run and the team has been pretty poor with the exact same problems under 3 different coaches. Keep Miller, make him captain, and trade Bo and Boeser. Keeping things the same isn’t working.

I take it all back

If you’d told me 2 months ago that we’d be playing meaningful games in a tight playoff race today, I would have laughed! And yet here we are, Bruce has saved the season, and whether we make the playoffs or not, it’s fun watching hockey again. Go Canucks!

If he's still feeling crappy enough that he can't play hockey after all this time to recover, I'm not sure I'd want to be in his position. I feel bad for the guy.

Coyotes lose vote for new arena - future unclear

Damn that looks smaller than I imagined. And they're tweeting about it like they are excited to be playing there next year?? Not a great look. -
I remember that game. I had to drive 3 hours to work that day, and then 3 hours back home (commuted from Comox to Victoria once a month), and I was REALLY looking forward to listening to that game on the radio on the drive home to make it more enjoyable. Well, it wasn't enjoyable at all! I think I nearly drove off the road in disgust!

Pfft... Wayne Gretzky Hockey on the Commodore Amiga is the best hockey game I've every played. Those little console hockey games were cute and all but nothing beat the Amiga back in the day! Also, I'm old. -

Well work be damned, I think it's time to spark up a doobie like the rest of you must be doing already so things start to make sense -

Go Canes! Nothing makes me happier than a Canucks win, but a Leafs loss comes close! -
I like most of your suggestions. Until I got down to... "Canucks need to win games". What the hell kind of crazy talk is that?

I heard on SN 650 that we have the worst shooting percentage in the league. That almost always balances out over time, but it does seem very strange. No way we have the least talented bunch of shooters in the NHL, do we? -
Nice post! I really do think there's an outside chance that this current roster, with everyone healthy and playing to their potential, could be a top-10 team and possibly even have a dream run in the playoffs. Bruce has everyone believing and Demko gives us a chance to win every night. I'd be quite happy keeping this group together, and I think they deserve a shot they way they've turned this season around. Having said that, I don't think management sees it quite the same way, and "hope" isn't really a strategy, so I think there will be moves. I hope they are the right ones!
