  1. Botch on team 1040 this morning hinted that Tanev is the roster player. Says Tanev wants to get paid. Also said the plan was to get the 10th from Anaheim to replace Shinkaruk in the 1st overall trade. Also said Anaheim hasn't put #10 back on the table (yet..)

Hahaha, well that was comical. Dreger seems a bit brain damaged ever since Desjardins came down to Vancouver ;p

  2. http://stats.hockeycanada.ca/roster/show/1254000?subseason=165586 Horvat has been invited to the 2014-15 Canadian National Junior Team (WJC-U20 Team) I expect him to make the team and have a large role both as a player on the ice and in a leadership role.
  3. As much as I love Shinkaruk, he's literally my favourite Canucks prospect, I would move him for the first pick. But it depends on who the roster player is, I don't think I would do Shinakruk+Tanev+6th. That's too much to move up just to move 5 spots.
  4. The title should be changed to "The Beautiful People of CDC Thread"
  5. is it just being announced or will there be a press conference too?
  6. How about the next 5 drafts after 2003? 2002 Draft - 1st overall Rick Nash , 6th overall Scottie Upshall. Rick Nash is the better player. 2001 Draft - 1st overall Ilya Kovalchuk , 6th overall Mikko Koivu. Kovalchuk is the better player. 2000 Draft - 1st overall Rick Dipietro , 6th overall Scott Hartnell. Scott Hartnell is the better player. (I know you won't, but i'm ignoring this year, DiPietro is a goalie, we're not taking a goalie first overall) 1999 Draft - 1st overall Patrick Stefan , 6th overall Brian Finley. Stefan is the better player. 1998 Draft - 1st overall Vincent Lecavalier , 6th overall Rico Fata. Lecavalier is the better player. You have to go all the way back to 1993 to find a player who was selected 1st overall and was not better than the 6th overall pick. Alexandre Daigle and Viktor Kozlov. The next 1st overall pick that was not better than the 6th overall pick was in 1986. So only one first overall pick in 25 years did not turn out better than the 6th overall pick. I like our chances (and because you won't believe me you can check for yourself. http://www.hockeydb.com/ihdb/draft/index.html)
  7. How am I cherry picking? I did the last 10 years, but left out the last 2 drafts since its too early to tell.
  8. For people saying we shouldn't trade up for the 1st overall because we will get a player that is just as good with the 6th... 2011 - 1st overall RNH , 6th overall Mika Zibanejad. RNH is the better player. 2010 - 1st overall Taylor Hall , 6th overall Brett Connolly. Hall is the better player. 2009 - 1st overall John Tavares , 6th overall OEL. Tavares is the better player. 2008 - 1st overall Steven Stamkos , 6th overall Nikita Filatov. Stamkos is the better player. 2007 - 1st overall Patrick Kane , 6th overall Sam Gagner. Kane is the better player. 2006 - 1st overall Erik Johnson , 6th overall Derrick Brassard. Johnson is the better player. 2005 - 1st overall Sidney Crosby , 6th overall Gilbert Brule. 2004 - 1st overall Alex Ovechkin , 6th overall Al Montoya. Ovechkin is the better player. 2003 - 1st overall MA Fleury , 6th overall Milan Michalek. MA Fleury is the better player. I left out 2012 and 2013 since its too early to decide. So as you can see the 1st overall pick is always better than the 6th. People have misconceptions of this draft when they hear it is "weak". It is a weak draft because it does not have the type of depth that is normal in any other draft, NOT because the players at the top will not turn into first line/franchise players. If we can move up for the right price then we should. People think we can get a player at 6th who will be just as good as the player chosen at 1st, that's not true. btw I'm not saying trade Horvat+6th for the 1st that is just ridiculous, I think our untouchable prospects should be Horvat, Shinkaruk, and Jensen.
  9. Once Babcock becomes available Pens are dumping their coach. That's why there only offering a 2 year deal with no choice of assistants to the available coaches. Desjardins will probably last much longer then the Pens new coach.
  10. Good article on why Linden and Benning will do whatever it takes to get Reinhart http://vansunsportsblogs.com/2014/06/20/why-the-canucks-will-move-heaven-and-earth-and-their-1st-to-get-sam-reinhart/
  11. They deleted the polls section?

  12. Dan Murphy @sportsnetmurph · 20m If Desjardins takes the #canucks job its almost guaranteed that he'll bring Doug Lidster to be a part of his staff. So it might be Coach: Willie D Ass: Gulutzan, Lidster ... all the Dallas boys.
  13. wasn't it the other way around? a lot of people wanted Eakins
  14. If Desjardins heads to Vancouver, #txstars might be out an assistant coach as well. Desjardins may take Lidster with him to Canucks. — 100 Degree Hockey (@100degreehockey) June 20, 2014
  15. He ranked 82nd by CSS, seems kinda of low when you look at his stats for this season Regular Season 35 pts in 63 games, +17, 50PIMS Playoffs 15 pts in 21 games, +12, 10PIMS 15 points in 21 playoff games for a D is impressive.
  16. Hope_Smoke ‏@Hope_Smoke McKenzie "I think Van at 6 is another team that will kick tires and look to get up to 1. Van wants a C not a D" So McKenzie says we want a center, although he might just mean a forward. But the only centers that are worthy of 6th pick is Nylander an Draisatl if he falls. So maybe its him just saying we really want Reinhart...
  17. Yea he seems like a great kid. I know someone said he hates the Canucks but if we draft him I don't see how that's possible. He has his line mate Cassels to play with, and there is the Canucks Autism Network which I'm sure he would love to be involved in. If he falls to us and we pick him I will be very happy.
