  1. Ah I getcha, you are talking more so about the tipping point in which it would expedite towards a herd immunity level. Therefore, according to the projections could be way before they can reach similar numbers with a vaccination. You are probably right on the one. I haven't look at the model projections myself though, but from what I read in the past it was something like doubling the total amount of cases every week or something along those lines.
  2. They've had near 23 mil cases so far, that's good for 7% of the population. They have a FAR ways to go yet to get to anything close to herd immunity even if it is possible to obtain - given that people can get it more than once I believe.
  3. I hope so. Why not cut him loose if you have no intentions of playing him? Are they just using him as an example for others? Seems like a stupid move that could potentially back fire for them in the long run - meaning I could see young Russians trending to start their careers elsewhere instead because of this type of treatment that could stagnate their development.
  4. Yup, I did. Just like this comment here. Keep digging your hole if you want. Your choice.
  5. Typical? You are seriously under estimating Podkolzin. He may not jump right into the top 6, but there is a good chance of that. And if he doesn’t, it will be within the next year or two. Judging based on this comment and other you have made, you seemingly lack the ability to have a conception of the bigger picture operating here. So glad we have GM JB and Green leading this and not someone that would come to conclusions based on such short sightedness.
  6. Coming spring 2021 to a Canucks team near you.
  7. Because we didn’t have Hoglander last season perhaps?... What happened when we acquired Toffoli and into the playoffs? It sounds like you are advocating, and correct me if I am wrong, that you want Green to try out every potential partner on Bo’s line because inevitably there will be some injuries or Hoglander doesn’t work out. Well, I would ask, what makes you believe that it’s going to be Hoglander that gets injured or is not suited for their role? Is it not possible that anyone on the roster could get injured? Does that mean we should be trying out all possible combos to prepare ourselves for that? Where do we draw the line? On the flip side, does it not make more sense to try to prepare what our optimal roster for the start of the season? And when injuries occur or players don’t live up to their roles to deal with it then? You also seem be ignoring the fact that they are trying to groom certain players like Gaud for a particular role, which is not Bo’s winger... it seems like they want to develop him into solidifying his own line at center. Despite how you want to interpret Green’s coaching choices in the past based on select information, yes, I still believe he is making the right decisions here.
  8. Yeeeeah... I’m going to go out on a limb here and suggest that maybe, just MAYBE, the coaching staff had discussed this and decided what they are doing is the best course of action to get the team ready. I think they want to put their best foot forward starting on game 1 of the season and I feel like they have taken the right approach. I have more trust in them, than your wanting to see a mixup of line combos.
  9. As far as trying other people out on Bo’s wing goes, it is most likely that one of the “vets” or “main stays” gets that spot if Hoglander doesn’t. Therefore, I’m pretty sure Green knows what his options are because he has tried and seen those lines previously in other seasons. No sense in not giving this line the best chance to succeed when he already knows what his other options look like.
  10. Agreed. Motte obviously had a bone to pick here, so there must be more to the story than just the play. And I say particularly because of the way Motte swiped Gauds stick away after he slew-footed him. Motte seemingly modeling his game after Marchand - not all bad. With that said, when it happened I actually thought it was MacEwan that got slew-footed based on the way he laid the beat down afterwards. Good to see from Gauds. He looks strong out there.
  11. It’s a “your argument is flawed and I don’t want to bother spending the time to show you why” comment.
  12. Yeah, sure. Does that matter? You were trying to equate negative posters with not being fans of Canucks. That simply doesn’t hold up. And the reverse is also true. If you have problem with fans of other teams being here, I’m not sure you’ve been accustomed to such things as rivalries. Some of the best moments on here were during the playoffs when rival teams would sign up and try to rattle us.
  13. The are either a Canucks fan, a fan of another NHL team, or a hockey fan in general. Yup. 100%.
  14. I do not support the “then their not fans” line of thinking. There are far better places to be a non-invested troll than a hockey forum. There is also an unlimited amount of reasoning that could influence someone to take a particular viewpoint. I know that I am guilty to taking a negative view for the sole reason that I feel like the discussion is unbalanced. Some posters may be fans since the 70s or 80# and are just disgruntled old men with a bone to pick because of decades of losing. Some people generally just don’t ever express excitement. You might get at most “they played well”. But that’s just people. We come in all forms and demeanors. Doesn’t mean they aren’t fans, or don’t belong here.
  15. Just to chime in on this debate about negative / positive posters and posts, a diversity of opinions in any forum is most welcomed. Just look south at the events happening down there. Group think is bad. Think for yourself and join a balanced discussion. I’ve been on this board a loooooooong time. I haven’t posted much, but I’ve witnessed a lot. I generally try to put a positive spin on “futures” but try to be realistic with “results”. As much I may dislike the negative posts on here that are advocated sometimes, it forces one to have a more thought out position. Those I feel like are over board in your response or negativity, I just ignore. But the opposite positions are valued all the same. The same can be said for positive positions. I wouldn’t be interested in this forum if it was ONLY positive and comments about how something didn’t live up their respected positions would always without hesitation be defended against. I like this forum because it’s highly active with a posters informing each other of recent information with a variety of viewpoints being offered - both positive and to a far less extent negative, but highly regard quality posts and content regardless. I would suggest others to adopt a similar view on this matter. This is a great forum and those monitoring it have been doing a great job. Looking forward to the season to start!
  16. Dope. Very suiting for a pandemic hockey season. Wish more goalies would do weird masks, though I do agree that this one seems a bit busy overall.
  17. Anyone who has been following the Canucks has heard of Hoglander... I guess you are new to the Canucks. Welcome. In case you missed it, Green said that you have to put rookies in a position to succeed and that those that look like they belong on the roster, will belong on the roster. Jake has no spot in the top 6 unless he looks like he deserves it. Apparently so far he does not.
  18. It’s interesting to watch his highlights from when he was younger. He was much lighter, quicker on his feet and played with better support players. It wouldn’t surprise me if an increase in his conditioning would make a world of difference for his effectiveness on the ice now that he is a much bigger guy. The difference of his shiftiness from when he was young and light to now reminds me a lot of Joulevi when he won the tourney with Laine to when he grew and then captained the team himself. It’s not shocking that either player were picked where they were, and then had growing pains because of their respective situations and personal events.
  19. I would take anything being "raved" about at the World Juniors with a grain of salt. Some kids dominant that tournament and don't amount to much in the end - see Hodgson and Schroeder. Mittelstadt was running away with praise, but... since then? Even Will Lockwood looked great and was raved about for his work ethic in the tournament, but I don't believe he is going to be an impactful player for us when all is said and done. On the flip side, players like Quinn Hughes didn't have a standout performance, and actually showed better at higher levels like the World Championships and at the NHL level. Podz is definitely one of those players that will look better (on the score sheet), when he plays with better players. His game is exactly what we need on our team and will thrive in my opinion once he gets here in terms of his development and future outlook. If I had to pick a forward from the tournament to throw onto the wing of EP40 or BH53, Podz would probably be it. I wouldn't worry about how much praise he got playing with kids.
  20. I believe most of the league knows the truth about this classless turd. Just search for “Messier elbow” on youtube. He has a loooooooong track record of cheap shots against top players on other teams before this incident was even a thing. Almost killed Mike Modano. The only years I refused to watch Nucks games as a kid were those years in our uniform - always throw up in my mouth a little just thinking about it.
  21. Ian Clark is top notch. Had the pleasure of working with him in his goalie camps awhile back. Superb coaching on all levels. Super nice guy as well - even let me borrow his gear!
  22. Hughes looked great with Luke Schenn, looked great with Tanev, and will look great with Hamonic (assuming they pair up). This signing is probably less about how good of a player Hamonic is and more so about how good of a support player he can be for Hughes - especially clearing the net. He might just be a 5v5 utility player with PK going to Edler / Schmidt and Joulevi / Myers. Looking forward to seeing him on the ice. Stop gap hopefully till (if) Tryamkin shows up.
