Haha guess so! It was missing the usual indicators of sarcasm like smiley faces and excessive use of punctuation!!!

Well that sounds like a made up story if I ever heard one. Troll much? Somehow this friends kid of yours is also friends with Gaudette? Most of what is said on here about him is nothing less than glowing reviews and enthusiasm or is he referring to all of the Willie nonsense?

Yes. That is apparently Brock's preference. Whether he is able to negotiate that from GM JB is another question, but, regardless of which league he will start in, the rumour is that he wants to go pro as soon as his season is done.

2017 NHL Draft - Chicago, Illinois June 23-24 2017
HomeBrew replied to hyper00's topic in Prospects / Farm Team
I believe he was leading the USHL in scoring before he went back to USHS. He is expected to the join the Green Bay Gamblers (USHL) team again next weekend. If they go on a playoff run, it will give a better indication of wheres he is at. As of now he has been ranked to go anywhere from #3 to #13. He is still my target at the draft as I believe his playing style is exactly what this team needs. -
Looks like its one game for both the semi-final and championship game. I believe North Dakota's opponent will be determined today for the March 17th semi-final - either Denver or Minnesota Duluth. The winner of that game goes on to play in the championship.

By the sound of it, according to this article, Aston-Reese doesn't have top 6 potential - lacks high end offensive skill and speed. But perhaps his heavy, garbage goal type of game is something this team still needs. I would honestly be more excited if Gaudette decided to turn pro this year. I would love to see him join Utica for a playoff push.

Finnish League transition to AHL seemed to work for Goldobin, so why not give it a try with Juolevi. I think this decision will largely be determined on how he shows up in the playoffs and what the London roster is expected to look like next year. Give him 9 games in the show and then send him to Finland. It would also be nice if he could put it together and take lead of the Knights next year as well - what we were kinda hoping for him to do this year. He seems like the type of guy who would want to correct his mistakes based on his WJC commentary - he was also outplayed there by Vili Saarijarvi as well imo.

I do not think it is as easy as saying, "oh they have a close proximity to Toronto, they must be mostly Leafs fans; therefore, they must hate all Canuck prospects." If London Knights fans are not a good source (on the HFBoard), then what is a good source? If a Toronto prospect was playing for the Vancouver Giants and was absolutely killing it, I wouldn't say "he's a $&!# prospect" just because he was drafted by the Leafs. I would probably want him to be on the Canucks and envious of the prospect. This is similar to how the London Knights fans (on the HFBoard) feel about Matthew Tkachuk. But I guess that only applies to Canuck prospects?

Previously, I was not into this guy, but WOW!, those are some slick hands! If he can show that be can put on some muscle I would consider taking him. I still feel like one hit from a guy with the size of Tryamkin, who has 100 lbs on him, and I think he is done. Button has an interesting top 15: 1. Nolan Patrick 2. Nico Hischier 3. Gabe Valardi 4. Cale Makar 5. Timothy Liljegren 6. Own Tippett 7. Elias Pettersson 8. Michael Rasmussen 9. Cody Glass 10. Miro Heiskanen 11. Martin Necas 12. Eeli Tolvanen 13. Casey Mittelstadt 14. Nick Suzuki 15. Jusso Valimaki The two real surprises for me are Cale Makar and Miro Heiskanen. These guys were not on my radar at all. Anyone have any insights on these players? -
Then by all means post the content because I literally just searched for his name and posted results. I did not see anyone sticking up for him or saying anything positive.

You are not wrong in your criticisms, but it would probably help if you gave a little context to them. I haven't seen Joulevi play a full game this year, just highlights, so I was interested in what you suggested in checking out the board by those who do watch the Knights on a regular basis. By all account from posters on the London Knights HFBoard, Joulevi is not having a good year. Posted below are all the comments that mention Joulevi in the last couple of months: "Vande Sompel and Juolevi are playing lousy." "Juolevi on first power play why?" "If he cant make his time in the OHL successful he is done in hockey. As a 19 year old and 4th year player he would be returned to the OHL as it is a higher level of hockey that the finnish Jr leagues. He is not good enough to play in the Mens leagues as of now as he is struggling to dominate the O." "Juolevi has regressed, Vancouver maybe should send him home to play in the Finnish Elite League or something? Not sure if they can or not though? They are in danger of looking like they wasted an awfully high pick IMO he has struggled badly." "Juolevi shouldn't be in the NHL next year, but who knows what Benning will do." "Joulevi is a bigger liability than Bouchard." "I know I will take some heat here but Juolevi's game is really starting to grow old. It's great to be calm, cool and collected but goodness gracious does he actually ever play like he is even slightly interested in the outcome? I know go ahead flame away he is awesome, tell me the Canucks have him working on certain aspects of his game so he will excel in the NHL. But this season when it comes to him he has been a let down IMO. He seems disinterested, slow, yet he gets quality ice time on the PP with Mete?" "Since the deadline London is 6-2-2 in January and 4-3 in February, they did fine at the start, it's just recently that the wheels have started to fall off. That being said there are a handful of players that are performing below par over the last few weeks, (Pu, Jones, Johnson) and then you have Joulevi who has regressed since last season. It's those players that have to figure it out." "Bouchard and Juolevi seem to let guys get behind them too easily." "Juolevi has been so weak that it really upsets the balance throughout the lineup. If Juolevi had played as well as he did last year we would not have needed to trade for MVS. With Mete out this hole on the back end widens to an infinite chasm that is impossible to plug." "Bouchard has messed up the past few games...regardless of having scored a few goals. Erie has spoken volumes during the last two games we played against them while we're on MUTE volume. Mete is VERY MUCH missed, Joulevi needs to start playing like a 5th overall pick...not a fifth rounder. Can you sense my frustration?!?" There was literally NOTHING positive said about Joulevi in the past couple of months. The opinion of most people on that board is that Mete has progressed past him and surpassed him on the depth charts. With that said, generally, the whole team has not been playing well as of late, lacking in motivation and drive. Joulevi could seemingly be a player that can only react to the overall teams ambition, but cannot lead the drive forward. Regardless, unless the Canucks management thinks this regression is because of the players or organization (not likely) of the London Knights, Joulevi should be back in the OHL next year, or even to a Finnish team, but not the NHL.

Virtanen with a primary assist in tonights win for the Comets.

Sounds like people are speculating that it could happen, not necessarily that it is in the works for GM JB and crew. I want to hear it from the horses mouth!

if we can draft a high quality centre this draft and sign Kane next year, this organization will start to be competitive again. With Stecher, Tryamkin, Hutton and Juolevi holding down the defensive side of things and maybe draft another high offensive defensemen in the 2nd round this year as well. It would be an impressive little turn around after the Sedin departure. I do think Juolevi is the type of player that excels with high end talent around him. He is more of a cerebral play maker and needs teammates that can read the developing plays at a high level. I still think he should be left in the OHL until he can dominate on his own though. It will be interesting to see how he performs next camp.

Sign him up long term! This guy is going to be something for this team. Somewhere in the ballpark of 5.5 mil for 6-8 years.

2017 NHL Draft - Chicago, Illinois June 23-24 2017

I would consider a franchise player someone you build a team around and perennially leads the team both in terms of leadership and scoring. Examples being: Patrick Kane, John Tavares, Jamie Benn, Drew Doughty. Do you think Hischier has that potential? Are there any scouting reports that state this as well? -

Franchise player? Who has been calling him a franchise player? I thought the general consensus was iffy if there was even a forward with 1st line potential in this draft. I like Hishier, but I don't think anyone is considering him a player with franchise potential at this point. -

If we are picking around 5th, no way do we do something like that. Maybe if we end up in the 10-14 range. Still an over payment in my opinion. -
Americans I think seem to pronounce it like "Dah-LEEN" based on the World Junior commentary, but to my ear the Swedish announcers say "Da-lee-in".

The most disclosed information that I have come across is this: "it was unclear yet if Boeser, Poganski and defenseman Hayden Shaw, who did not make the trip to Oxford, will be able to play Friday (March 10th) when the playoffs begin." source

First game, nice to see him out and take advantage of a good opportunity. He is definitely the kind of player and attitude this stale core has been missing for a while now. In regards to being benched afterwards, I wouldn't make a mountain out of a mole hill. Has this guy even gotten a practice in with the team yet?
-
Virtanen doesn't necessarily need to have high hockey IQ to be success playing him game. He is dependent on skill and size. If he can figure out how to just apply those two things consistently, he will be successful. Of course he needs to learn about positioning and reading a play, but more than anything its about being a hound on the puck and driving the net. He isn't going to be a playmaker which requires high IQ to play well. He has to play like a possessed meat head that loves scoring goals.

Personally, I think Hischier has an Ehlers type of offensive talent, but is slightly more responsible of a player being a C. Thus, he isn't going to lead this team right out of the gate, as it will still take a few years for him to have a major impact. Nolan Patrick probably has Leon Draisaitl potential.
