  1. Just under 80 per cent of people who have died of an overdose in B.C. this year were men. Fentanyl remains the most significant driver in the high number of deaths across all demographics. Opioids were found among all those who died, along with cocaine and the stimulants methamphetamine and amphetamine. 2020 sucks. Looks like we leveled off at 175 overdose deaths a month..
  2. Seemed like he knew what he was doing... he knew he would fall down from the momentum of slingshotting around. The foresight to now Toffoli would be waiting there is unreal.. sedin-esque
  3. This suggestion has been shot down multiple times unfortunately we're stuck with this one until Saturday ...
  4. The looting and rioting seem to be justified by people associated with BLM https://www.foxnews.com/media/black-lives-matter-president-riot
  5. Some posters claims of boycotting the canucks and NHL for the rest of their lives is a bit much. There is always a silver lining in the blessed lives that the majority posting in this board live to not be distraught over a couple day delay. Life goes on. The spotlight is on the issue lets see some action both legislatively and sports wise If the playoffs get cancelled entirely however my opinion might change. It is nice for the fans for sports to be apolitical imo but I wont lose any sleep over it
  6. Our prospects in the pipeline make me drool Hogz and Podz and Rathbone my long term hopefuls Juolevi and Tree for short term hopes as we need defensive hep for cheap The future is bright friends!
  7. Interesting article sums up events with a bias towards the 17 year old shooter acting in self defence for a different perspective https://www.thegatewaypundit.com/2020/08/man-arm-partially-blown-off-confesses-friend-regret-hesitating-pull-gun-not-killing-17-year-old-rittenhouse/ Man Who Had His Arm Partially Blown Off Confesses to Friend: His Only Regret Was ‘Hesitating to Pull His Gun’ and “Not Killing” 17-Year-Old Rittenhouse
  8. Yea its tough to know the value that some of our vets actually have on the market but these playoffs so far are helping us put them in a positive light for sure. damn I can’t wait until Saturday!!
  9. We have some spare prize prospects that we might benefit from using in this manner instead of exposing to Seattle and losing for free. Demko is one yep
  10. Everyone needs to watch this. Violence and looting being justified with a tragedy of human life is disgusting.
  11. I'm all for more mental health funding. Up here too is sorely needed. I just don't like vilifying the police.
  12. There's something about police specifically in a position of authority abusing their power to kill someone that really tugs at the heart strings, especially caught on video. plus with all the blatantly brutal acts by police lately combined with existing rhetoric to abolish the police, emotions are high in an election season with media on over drive its a recipe for chaos with this new age of social media everything is out in the open and rightfully so
  13. I think these numbers are accurate. Although it doesn't give the true picture as certain demographics are more populous so of course their numbers will be higher. the proportional percentages give a more clear image.
  14. I would say that the perpetrators (perceived or real) of violent crime are more likely to be shot by police then white collar criminals. Many white collar criminals are serving jail sentences right now, many that are too lenient though probably, just felt like pointing that out since you say they 'never' get punished.. speaking in absolutes rarely helps. As has been pointed out many times in this thread, politicians are the real crooks here.
  15. Nice article - from UBC to boot - makes you think Pretty long so I just skimmed to the conclusion will post here for others too lazy to click.
  16. I get that but why do we need to reinterpret the organization's messaging ? Perhaps creating controversy is an avenue to change..
  17. Discussion, sure, the organization's initial mantra that gained the most popularity was "defund the police" which most on either side say is ridiculous and I disagree with vilifying the overall police force when they are a product of the system we live in today. If they are well on their way... has anything improved... Honestly though living in Canada I am of course ignorant to the reality on the ground down there and only see what is available through media etc. I think I need a break from this thread lol Time to enjoy the sunshine
  18. I agree. We'll see if the pressure is still on to cancel Saturday night games and lose that sweet summer hockey weekend revenue
  19. Pretty certain it was set as Saturday, then Monday and Tuesday status quo... rest day..
  20. As long as it's not 4 games in 5 nights... I think it was supposed to be 3 in 4 regardless of this postponement ?
