  1. While I stated that I was leaving covidville, I’m thinking that you might be missing the very different factor that these are very different viruses as well. The victims of the 1918 influenza were primarily young and healthy people. While Covid has taken those who are young and healthy as well, they haven’t been the primary targets. Back to hockeytown.
  2. I understand. That being said, I still value his opinion like I do most on these boards, so I feel the need to honor it by responding.
  3. That's a bit of an overreaction. Consider in the two years it's been here that Covid has infected 303,447,963 people with 5,496,209 dying from it. The 1918 Influenza infected 1/3 of the entire human population, and over 50,000,000 - 75,000,000 died from it. Based on what? Again, based on what? The financial impacts of lockdowns has already been felt by thousands if not millions of people. Many have lost their livelihoods and some have chosen to opt out of life because of it. The impacts of these last couple of years, and all that's happened, will reverberate throughout the next century, at the very least. That being said, I'm going to head back to hockeytown and keep this thread out of covidville.
  4. There is no defeating this virus though. Just like there was no defeating H1N1, which has been around since 1918, which is over a century ago. Sacrificing everything to "beat" something that will never really ever go away is not a smart move. Just like other viruses throughout time, this will (and looks to be) weakening and becoming endemic.
  5. The Canucks will give them a run for their money. I expect a better outcome than many are surmising.
  6. He's already becoming the player he wants to be. Those who're disgruntled will continue to be disgruntled regardless of the outcome.
  7. Don't let the stats fool you. Nashville isn't the cream of the crop. The Canucks have their number still and will for the remainder of time.
  8. Exactly, Quinn. Waste no time on the opinions of others. It's pointless. Anyone who doesn't see that Hughes is becoming a far more well rounded defenseman, truly doesn't get it.
  9. That's pretty assumptive to think that Pettersson's ego is the issue here? Hughes and he signed at the same time and showed up to camp at the same time. They both skated in Michigan with Brady Tkachuk. Yet, Hughes who, once again was out for the same amount of time as Pettersson, is having an amazing season so far. Certainly a lot of what's plaguing Pettersson is internal, but to say it's his ego is both ridiculous and unfounded. Motte could very well be traded based on Rutherford's comments regarding trading vets for picks. Be prepared.
  10. Rather give Pettersson time to get the Green out of his system. Time to trade Tyler Motte.
  11. Miller really reminds me of Kesler in this interview. A player you win with.
  12. Maybe it's the homer in me, but why do I envision that Bruce will raise his first Stanley Cup with Vancouver?
  13. You forgot watch as the goalie's crease is crashed by opposing forwards and offer words of encouragement
  14. The defense was woeful when Bungardener was running it, as he seemed very limited in his strategical approach to the defense, and Green fully supported that ineptitude. Since those two were given their walking papers and Shaw's fully taken over, the defense has drastically improved. Anyone pushing the narrative that this defense is shambolic is ridiculous. Keeping Shaw should be of the utmost importance. Once Rutherford and (insert GM name here) shape the defense going forward, Shaw's influence will be paramount.
  15. From Green and Baumgartner to Boudreau and Shaw. If that isn't an upgrade, I don't know what is.
  16. The team could use some more heft on the forward lines. 6'2' 234. Snap him up, JR
