  1. I hope that rough patch gives way to some peace and happiness.
  2. A mentor in what capacity? Should he have been the GM and a more seasoned president been brought in to guide him?
  3. Worked out for Linden... They were great hockey players. I'm sure they take their jobs seriously since being hired by the team. The job of president is one that, at least in my humble opinion, should be filled by a qualified and experienced person. I get that some teams use the position as more of a PR move, but I think the Canucks tried that and it didn't quite work. Sure, but being the preeminent position of the organization, it should be filled by experience, in my opinion.
  4. Crazy stuff. Thank you for sharing. I hope you're feeling better now.
  5. 3 years of mentoring will make the Sedins acceptable presidents? I don't see how.
  6. Holy (expletive deleted)! If you don't mind me asking, what were you doing in that ungodly weather? And what was it like to work in that?
  7. If they're the right people for the job. They very well may not be. Merely because they had an abundance of talent and skill as players doesn't mean that'll translate to them being equally effective as managers or presidents. As well, very few, if any, teams have a duo residing as presidents.
  8. I don't think he'll hire a GM merely for show. He'll use his experience and knowledge to help guide the trajectory of the team, which is what a president should do anyways. Would it be better if he hired an experienced GM to work underneath him? Maybe. Maybe not. I mean, every GM that's working in the league today, Rutherford included, started somewhere at some point. In the short term, since changes have been made, the team is playing markedly better than they were beforehand. That's obvious in both the eye test and the analytics test. The upcoming schedule, where the team will face some serious teams will be telling in what needs to be done, roster wise, to make this team even better. Long term? The GM will gain experience with the support of their president and build a strong and solid roster around the core. I highly doubt you'll see an aimless approach from the management team, which seemed to be the case with the previous one.
  9. Difference is the Canucks have a very, very experienced and respected president of hockey operations at the helm, which they didn't have before. Think about when Linden and Benning were hired. A rookie president and rookie GM who then chose a rookie coach. Not a good mix. I don't mind Rutherford choosing a less experienced GM, as he will mold them with his wealth of experience and knowledge, which is something Linden just couldn't do.
  10. I have to give credit that Mr. Bradley Hunt wasn't so bad on the powerplay. I believe he set up a goal. If Hamonic returns this week and is ready to slot in, that defense becomes much better. Especially with Shaw at the helm. And this legend.
  11. Request to change title of thread to Quinn Hughes IS a star.
  12. Anyone still think that Markstrom should have been re-signed by Vancouver?
