[Report] Canucks recall Guillaume Brisebois
PhillipBlunt replied to -Vintage Canuck-'s topic in Canucks Talk
His coverage against the Canucks was horrific. -
Due to the advent of social media. The average person isn't really very discerning in their search for the truth anymore. If something confirms what they already feel (rather than know), they go with it. Hell, quite a few "fact-checking" websites, if you dig deep enough into them, are biased. The truth is out there, but finding it is near impossible.

I agree, wholeheartedly. That however needs to be a decision made by the organization. Sports journalism has been sensationalistic for sometime now. Add in the fact that Vancouver is a smaller city with very little legit pro sports, and the media will become myopic in focus and turn into a bunch of jackals fighting over the few scraps that are left after the radio shows and newspaper writers push their stuff through.

Journalistic integrity has suffered under the advent of social media. Now that the average human attention span is measured in seconds instead of minutes, the proliferation of quick news bites (that don't have to necessarily be completely vetted) has made the provision of information all about speed instead of accuracy.

While Benning had clearly worn out his welcome as GM, I would have been fine with him staying on as a scout. Highly doubt someone who was both a GM and a AGM would want to take such a demotion though.

Will be nice to see what the Breeze can do under Shaw. Bumgardener's systems (if he had any) were like venom to a player's development. -
Some folks like to get ahead of things. I agree with your sentiment.
