Team Paralysis [Discussion]
PhillipBlunt replied to hammertime's topic in Proposals and Armchair GM'ing
It depends on the aqua. Hearing Roberto may be replacing Frankie due to the latter's inability to ice a contending team. Who knows though. The tire fire that has been going on behind the scenes seems to be getting exposed a bit more now. -

I hear you, but after giving Benning the reins for almost 8 years, I think the team would benefit from hiring a more established GM who's had experience in the league in the role at this point. That being said, every GM and coach have to start their career somewhere. -

So replace one first time NHL GM with another? What does that solve? -
For sure. There very well could be but I doubt it's the soap opera crap that the dull scribes in the Vancouver media try to sell. Green is beyond his best before date. Moving on from him and the majority of his assistants is paramount. Benning dropped the ball on this for sure. He didn't consider the effect losing core players would have on a younger roster. I understand moving on from Markstrom, as Demko is proving to be a legit number one goaltender, but keeping Tanev should have been on Benning's mind. Reason enough to move on from Benning too. Benning has never been able to solidify a good defense since he's been here. He's settled for mediocrity and it shows. Hopefully the rumor that Frankie Aq is being replaced by Robbie Aq is true, and a new, and less intrusive vision will be provided from ownership. Benning has to go at the same time Green does. Both have had adequate time in their positions to bring this team to a better place than they have. Both need to go. I agree with Shaw as interim. Trades should only happen once a new GM is put in place. Benning's had ample opportunity.

(Speculation) Mike Babcock in town to meet with Aquilini family...
PhillipBlunt replied to N4ZZY's topic in Canucks Talk
Very possible. That being said, I believe Green advocated for Shaw to be hired by the org, so I would have thought that he would have adjusted his existing systems to work with Shaw's approach. Based on the eye test (and everything else), it didn't take. If there is conflict, it's on Green. -

Got caught in the traffic snarl going up Island. Was an hour wait as they compressed three lanes into one, and then diverted the traffic through Lantzville. The other way was absolutely horrendous with the parade of headlights going back at least 3-4 miles. Heard those poor folks spent 3 hours in their cars snailing along.
