  1. True. They need to give Hughes and Hronek proper line mates who can support their offensive strength. OEL has been playing injured for a huge amount of the season. He should have been shut down a while back.
  2. This team wouldn’t be a playoff team without a couple of improvements to the defense. Adding a forward as talented as Bedard wouldn’t magically make the defense corps better. That needs to be rectified regardless of who’s drafted.
  3. This off-season needs to be all about giving Thatcher a truly excellent defense to play behind. Make it so, AILvin.
  4. Demko was incredible. For me, the fact that he’s returning to form in such a big way is the best thing about the last portion of the season. Would I like a higher draft position? Oh yeah.
  5. Games like this really show Tocchet and all who’s invested in the future by how they play in these lulls.
  6. It'll bolster it and keep the team confident. If the team gets them, of which there's no guarantee. Same with Bear. The team is one of the younger rosters in the NHL now, so that's already been achieved. To succeed in the war that's the playoffs you need warriors, not just young players. Especially if you want your young players not to be injured.
  7. While Hughes is awesome (truly) and Hronek has been for Detroit (hopefully he finds chemistry here), those two will be throttled in the playoffs without partners who'll impart some size and menace back at the opposition.
  8. For sure. There is that too. His agent did mention that Luke wouldn't be averse to being traded from Vancouver and then returning in the offseason. That being said, if it didn't happen, you move on. With Tocchet at the helm, I think this team will have an actual identity, and being actually hard to play against seems to be part of it, aside from Myers and his girgaffes.
  9. In the top 4, yes. Having Schenn back to hold down the bottom pairing, provide actual veteran leadership, and to bring the pain is more than a good idea.
  10. That defense has a lot of talent, but risks being eaten alive in the playoffs. Needs a Burroughs - Schenn as the 3rd pairing, with Julussen or Wolanin as the 7th. Then you have the horses to manage the nastier parts of the race.
  11. At this point, really happy that the Canucks went with Demko.
