  1. For sure. When Guddy was a Canuck and Tom Wilson tried to mug him, and Wilson got his ass handed to him, it was great. He was best here when he was paired with Edler who helped to manage his gaffes. I remember when those two were paired together during a game against Boston, and they neutralized the top line of Sharthand, Panzersnack, and Bergeron. Put Gudbranson with Hutton or Pouliot, and the wheels fell right off. Paying him $3-4 M isn't commiserate to what he brings.
  2. Hronek is a more well-rounded player. Gudbranson is a solid third pairing, physical menace who, when put in that role, excels. It's when he's tasked with more positional play that he struggles.
  3. It seems that under Foote, the defense has learned how to actually play defense, and have done a really good job of it. Myers has become an actual threat to the OTHER team. Would a full season, especially training camp, with Tocchet, Foote, Gonchar, and King help to revive Ekman-Larsson's career, or is he just too injured now to make an impact.
  4. For sure. I get where you and others are coming from. AiLvin has made a firm decision by trading for him. That decision will include a contract extension. I just hope it works out, being a Canucks fan and all.
  5. Could put up 60 points. Could not mesh at all with the team. Could mesh well. Signing a player to a multi year contract when they have barely been able to develop chemistry with the team is a questionable move.
  6. Agreed. The cautious approach is paramount regarding Hronek. Throwing money at a player well before you need to seems to be this management's Achilles heel. Waiting until he's actually joined the team and had a decent run of games where he's acclimated himself makes sense as far as making a judgment call on his future worth contractually.
  7. Makes zero sense to sign him to anything this summer. He's not even played a single game as a Canuck. Tocchet hasn't seen where or how he fits in with the roster. He has to actually carry the second pair first before being given a new contract. Although I don't think that'll stop AiLvin from doing so.
  8. Have to be traded. At this point, where St. Louis is at, he might not cost that much. Doesn't use his size as much as he should but he's a pretty solid all around defenseman who might be looking for a change of scenery. He's in the Miller age range, mind you.
  9. Severson is a year or two younger than Mayfield. I'd prefer him. Price might be high though. Those are good choices all the same.
  10. No. Hronek could run the second pairing from an offensive perspective. Both pairings need more traditional stay at home, defensive defensemen to compliment the offensive capabilities of both Hughes and Hronek respectively.
  11. Exactly. The key focus should be to find that right handed defenseman that effectively compliments Hughes and is in a similar age range so that they can be a combo for years to come.
