  1. Certainly. Not having information or knowledge about something is the textbook definition of ignorance. However, the term has taken on more negative connotations recently that don’t quite jibe with the real definition. Not knowing is much different than knowing and still acting as if you don’t
  2. To me, racism is the willful and purposeful degradation of another person based on their physical appearance, primarily skin tone and facial characteristics. It can also involve nationality, and include open mockery of customs and regional practices. If you approximated a Sikh person to an Arabic person, I don’t consider that a racist action, but an uninformed one.
  3. Exactly. If someone idolizes someone of another race, how is it insulting? When I was 12, I idolized Jimi Hendrix and wanted to dress up like him for Halloween one year. I got the clothes and guitar down but didn’t quite look right. I wanted to apply some makeup to pull it off, but my mom advised against it. She understood how much I wanted to be Hendrix and said that it wouldn’t go over. At no time did I believe what I was doing was racist because to me Jimi was the man. It was a kid wanting to be like his idol.
  4. Somehow Scheer thinks he is. Clearly he has a friend down south who sussed this out for him. The timing is all too convenient and the majority of people are being played like the fiddles they are.
  5. I'm thinking that Sutter isn't going to want to leave it up to Boeser and Petterson to score all the goals anymore.
  6. Brock is a true class act of a human being. Lalji must be hell bent on sounding like the biggest moron in Vancouver. Although Patterson isn't slacking either. Well done in fielding questions from this pack of morons, Brock.
  7. I think this is the most likely avenue going forward. The days of underperforming vets being guaranteed a roster spot because of their contract are over. Gagner's necessary demotion was proof of that. Eriksson hasn't made a strong case for himself at all, while younger players are showing the determination to make a case for themselves. Players like Leivo, Motte, and others mean far more to the team as players than as tradebait. They're motivated and determined to grab a spot on the third or fourth line, and have shown it far more than Loui. Green won't want a floater like Eriksson taking up space on a line that could be given to a younger player willing to learn and willing to go to bat for his team. Roussel's injury is probably the only thing that might prevent Eriksson from being demoted. Hopefully Jim is close to the trade that he spoke about earlier this week, and that it involves Eriksson. Oh sweet Gord, let it be!
  8. Same. Eriksson hasn't done enough to really cement his spot on the roster. The days leading up to the regular season beginning might be substantial for the team.
  9. Why can't this drama happen to Arizona or Florida instead?
  10. Fair enough. I'm not sure if Baertschi will get the second line spot over Goldobin. Sven is more engaged at a consistent level though, so that definitely works in his favor. I do think that Goldobin is the more offensively gifted player overall, but his ability to maintain that level will be the key to him working out here. The players who can't maintain the level of consistency that Green is looking for will be the ones cut, most likely. MacEwen's size mixed with his skill must be enticing to Travis though.
  11. MacEwen has looked very engaged and could be the player that makes the team. I'm certainly rooting for him. I can see a Gagner-type of demotion occurring.
  12. Preseason. I think once the roster is fully defined (and lines hopefully settled upon), and the team is 15 games in to the season that matters, is when one can truly make a solid judgement of players.
  13. I can't ignore anyone here. hockeygod77's posts are entertaining.
  14. Damn. I forgot about Antoine. He's probably the feistiest of the bunch. I mean, how the hell can a fan look at the roster and not see the uptick in toughness, especially toughness that can play.
  15. It's true though, Boester. In general, agents want to make sure that they're penetrating the GM with every tactic they can so that when it comes to the final contract, the thrusting on numbers and term aren't all for nothing.
