Exactly. Kane has cleaned up his act, and the violence against women incident, while pathetic, was one night in Buffalo at a bar, where everyone (Kane included) was extremely intoxicated. Not excusing the guy, but I don't think his actions were deliberate, as much as they were brought on by the booze.
Patrick Kane, on the other hand, not only assaulted a cab driver and refused to pay him, but was charged with rape, which charges were summarily dropped. His Stanley Cup rings seem to have absolved him in the hockey world. Funny eh?
I wonder if Kane's lingering reputation issues might have something to do with some other factor....
Regardless, Evander Kane is doing quite well this year, and looks to be resurrecting his career swimmingly. In my opinion, his rare combination of talents would be a welcome addition to the Canucks, coupled with his love for his hometown.
Not every player has to be a choirboy or boyscout in order for the team to be successful.
