  1. Sounds good, aGENT. When you put it that way, it sounds...
  2. Teams have a playbook on the Canucks, and part of that playbook is slamming Tanev into the boards as often as possible, same with the Sedins and Eriksson. While the team needs more pure goal scorers, and defensively minded players, it also desperately needs more size in both the forward and defense corps. Too often teams take liberties with the Canucks and don't suffer anything for it. It's pathetic really, and needs to stop. It's demoralizing enough for the fans to see their team getting manhandled and disrespected, I can only imagine what it must be like to be one of the players experiencing it at ice level. With the emergence of the new core, I can only hope that a pack like mentality is forged that puts other teams on notice. I have faith in Bo as a captain (whenever that happens) and know that he'll stand up for his teammates, which is one of the things a captain should always do.
  3. His combination of speed, size, skill, and guts isn't something that all players possess. He's on the right track and will just get better going forward.
  4. Really? I'm shocked. Where are you reading this? Personally, I thought the hit wasn't as bad as it was made out. Jake needs to play hard.
  5. 1 year at $850,000 should have done it. Like you say, I don't think many other teams were really prepped to get into a bidding war over a streaky, flaky player like Gagner. Not sure what Jim's reasoning was.
  6. At this stage in the Canucks trajectory, I'm enjoying the team's development on a whole. I'm interested to see who steps up in Horvat/Sutter/Gudbranson's absence and cements themselves as core members. Could be Hutton.
  7. There's no doubt that when Hutton is playing well, he's a good defenseman. That's a given. It's his indecisiveness and nervy play that I personally find lacking.
  8. I don't think Virtanen is going back to Utica again.
  9. I have a feeling that Bo won't be out for too long, but if he is, I hope this team can continue to show the resolve that they already have with the mounting challenges they've faced already.
  10. Sucks for Evan. Hopefully all goes well for him.
  11. Well, that is some intriguing news.
  12. He seems engaged. Excited to play. Dangerous with the puck.......what the hell happened?
  13. Have to hand it to Stecher for how he came back from everything yesterday. The kid has so much resolve, it's amazing. I love the way this team is rallying together for Dorsett. Teams that can dig deep like this are special.
  14. Boeser turned Josi inside out on that one. And made Rinne look a fool.
  15. Look what happened when Ferland was allowed to charge at will in the series against Calgary. It was ridiculous, and was huge in swaying momentum.
  16. Considering the years Edler has under his belt, it's mind-numbing the mistakes he makes.
  17. And I can state obvious things lacking in Guddy's game as well. He has zero offense, and doesn't seem to be too eager to generate much. He can be somewhat sloppy in his own end, although when he's paired with different players and not left to generate more chemistry with MDZ, it has an effect. It would also be interesting to know what instruction he's being given by Baumgartner, (and for that matter, how all of the defense is being instructed) seeing as how the defense on a whole can go from being extremely effective to a tirefire within the span of a couple of games.
  18. I remember after the hit Gudbranson laid on Lucic, that Milan didn't make his usual beeline to the player who hit him to engage in fisticuffs. That very well could be a concious decision made by Lucic to focus more on other aspects of the game and less on truculence, but it was noticeable none the less.
  19. Watch the season opener against Edmonton. He made an impact.
  20. I think both have very valid points to make. What I've noticed though is that the more analytics leaning crowd tends to make statements alluding to Gudbranson being "good at nothing" or his absence being "addition by subtraction". Those seemingly embittered statements are reductive and usually speak to a less than rounded knowledge and perception of the game. It's not surprising though as blogs like the Provies and Canucks Army seem rife with that type of ignorance, and crap seemingly always flows downhill.
