  1. When did that shriveled sac say that? I hope JB does too.
  2. Hahahaha. Evgeni seems to have a get out of jail free card wedged firmly somewhere. Ask Willie Mitchell.
  3. Yes I do. Same here. I think that Green wanted Gudbranson playing his game closer to Markstrom, especially with Pittsburgh, seeing as how they excel at making plays in tight, and how Malkin uses his size against smaller defensive units. Green's idea paid off as Malkin had his ass handed to him a few times by Guddy, and was held to only 2-3 shots if I'm not mistaken. I do think Green wants to see more offense from Gudbranson, as does a lot of the team. He's loved in the room, as evident by how they (and the crowd) cheered him after leaving the box post fighting Wilson during the game against the Capitals.
  4. And both have the ability to skate the puck up ice and make decent passes as well.
  5. The Canucks have needed a huge, physical defenseman for a while now, almost just as much as the elusive puck moving defensemen. In my humble opinion, they seem to have both now, which is why the Canucks have the second lowest GAA in the league. I see a plethora of goals from the blueline coming. Malkin, Hagelin, Guentzel, and Hornqvuist were all crunched quite nicely by Guddy. Malkin knocked off Gudbranson's helmet with his stick, which of course went unpenalized because the refs like Malkin's soft hands.
  6. Green has the defense playing a much more physical game too, utilizing all the strengths of the defensive corps.
  7. I thought we all belonged to the same club? What happened?

I gave you a trophy for your post, Shift-4. I didn't know what else to say. Love you too, man.

  9. Sutter has been enormously effective in this young season. I would say that he's one of the most underrated players on the team. Green's guidance and clarity of communication is huge and a major factor in the change of playing style for the team.
  10. One would have to think that Edler has to be aware of how effective the defense has played in his absence. With established players like Tanev, Gudbranson, and Del Zotto taking on well dispersed minutes, Edler hasn't been missed as in previous years. Benning has done very well in ensuring that the defense is deeper than before. In turn, this has given greener players in Hutton, Stecher and Pouliot more stability to make the most of their opportunity. As well, having the greatest 7/8 defenseman in the league in Biega helps. Edler must see the writing on the wall, in how the Sedins ice-time has been reduced significantly, and should also undergo a similar adjustment in minutes. He doesn't need to be the go to defenseman from any standpoint outside of experience. Del Zotto has taken on the minutes, Gudbranson, the physicality, and hopefully one of the younger defensemen (my bet's on Pouliot) will take charge of generating offense from the back end. I hope he comes back invigorated and ready to use his shot and frame to make things happen. Will be sad to see Biega back in the pressbox though.
  11. So Washington just beat Edmonton 5-2. Rebuild? What rebuild?

Well Hairy, you can't expect any GM, no matter how brilliant, to be completely infallible. James Elmer has done a great job if you really look at the big picture. Took a complete disaster and has slowly started to steer the ship in the right direction. If only we could throw a few contracts overboard! (I'm looking at you LE )

I saw this game.  Edm looks rudderless at this point, just minimize McJesus and you got the game....  McLennan better start throwing sticks in the dressing room at this point.  Just nada from a whole 75% of this team.

  12. Totally. By all accounts, Kane made a concerted effort to minimize the sound in his personal life, and chose to do some charity work in Vancouver, which is interesting. One would think if he was looking long term at Buffalo (hahahahahaha!) he'd be out in the local communities upstate New York. Instead he was in the downtown Eastside handing out pizzas. Adding Kane at free agency would be unreal. Grit, size, scoring, and speed in a 26 year old player passionate about his hometown.
  13. As per Jeff Patterson: Gudbranson who left last night’s game after 3rd period scrap is back on ice with #Canucks at practice this a-m
  14. It's always nice to be on the train way ahead of time, aGENT. That way you can get a comfortable seat.
  15. I wouldn't have any issue with Gudbranson getting an NTC.
  16. Guddy is a fearless, smart, composed 6'5" 220 lb. defenseman who can skate well for his size, and hits like a Freightliner. He believes in and protects his teammates. Who in their right mind wouldn't want a defenseman like that on their team?
