  1. Nah. Having back and forths with him is like pissing in the wind.
  2. I don't see what skill Baertschi possesses that makes him a player worth hanging on to, especially considering the talented young players in the prospect pipeline.
  3. And frees up roster space for dynamic young players ready to make the jump. I'll take it!
  4. A low first rounder. Possibly a high second rounder. His size, skill, and IQ are overshadowed by his injury history, woeful inconsistency, and age.
  5. Might be 5 x 5. Hopefully he's interested in playing here past this season. Just curious, what has made you think he likes Vancouver?
  6. I think that many are finally seeing the light. I just hope that Gudbranson is interested in signing a long term deal here. If he is, make it happen, JB!
  7. He went from playing with a perennial Selke finalist to playing with third/fourth liners. One's production will drop when that happens.
  8. Hutton's played badly in every game. He needs to be sat in favor of a Utica call up. Chatfield, Wiercoch, McEneny come to mind.
  9. I think Glass should have been given a game misconduct for pushing Eriksson. Hopefully next time the Canucks play the Flames, Gudbranson rearranges Tanner's mulleted face.
  10. I just think that Stecher has proven to be more than capable of handling high pressure situations far better than Hutton, and would therefore be the better of the two to work with another fairly green player. I forget whether Biega is right or left handed, but I'd be happy to see him with Stecher over Wirecock.
  11. The Demilitarized Zone? Del Zotto and Gudbranson are too solid of a pairing to split up at this point. Hutton needs to snap out of his funk and play proper defense, it's not on Gudbranson to make it happen. As one can see now in retrospect, Gudbranson wasn't really the issue with that pairing last season. Tanev could help Hutton, possibly. I think Stecher is a competent enough player that he could be paired with Pouliot and make something happen. I'd be good with: Del Zotto - Gudbranson Hutton - Tanev Pouliot - Stecher Biega
  12. MDZ - Gudbranson Edler - Stecher Hutton - Tanev There...that's better.
  13. Didn't Burrows, Bieksa, and Hamhuis earn the right to retire as Canucks as well?
  14. Agreed. Stecher shows far more composure under pressure than Hutton has. Hutton showed the same fumbly, frazzled demeanor last year with Gudbranson, but somehow the blame fell on Erik instead of Ben. Troy deserves a ton of looks on the powerplay. Possibly with Edler? Green could change up the 4 F 1 D approach, which doesn't look to be too successful.
  15. Easily Out of all three, they are the most balanced pairing. Both are physical players who finish their checks, and both are defensively responsible. As well, they generated the most shots out of any defensive pairing, by a long shot. Hutton and Stecher were pretty bad, with Hutton being the major issue with that pairing. He looked lost out there. At least Stecher has the wherewithal about him to feed an open Vanek for the one-timer. Tanev looks to be trying to generate some offense this season which he looks right at home doing. Edler? Not so much. The three blind passes through traffic ended up as horrible giveaways.
  16. Those discounting Jake are the same that call Gudbranson a bust.
  17. Not a chance they spend time in Utica. Green knows they'll both benefit from some trial by fire, and will learn way more playing in the NHL. Utica would be a step back at this point in their careers. A step back, I say!
  18. 1:29 - 1:38 of the video is my favorite spot.
  19. Must have been watching a different preseason. Gudbranson was physically dominant against the Oilers. He handled Lucy and kept his game to a low roar. Erik was calm and collected when it came to clearing the puck, especially on the penalty kill. He keeps that up, you'll have to deal with him for a few more years in the blue and green.
