  1. Suggestion: Don't listen to those Canucks "fans". They haven't a clue, and are wasting your time.
  2. But, but..... analytics sez he sux, dude. And a defenseman that doesn't score is useless.....for some strange reason.
  3. I agree wholeheartedly. The idea that Gudbranson is nothing more than a trade chip is irretrievably stupid.
  4. Exactly. Played a composed, steady game. Managed Lucic. The only thing missing was the opportunity to pummel kharia's face into a fine paste.
  5. Why is Boucher still in the Current Roster section of CDC? He passed through waivers (slowly I'm sure) and would now be considered a prospect in the system, no?
  6. Wasn't Willie fired after Tryamkin decided to leave for the KHL? you're going to speculate.
  7. No surprise that Willie was a catalyst for Tryamkin leaving. In three years, who knows where the blueline will be, but I'd like to think that there would still be a roster spot for a 6'7" 260 lb. mammoth defenseman who can skate well and wants to play big minutes. Time will tell.
  8. Boucher has been put on waivers....shocker.
  9. Rest in peace, Charles Bradley.

      RIP Sir :(

Hard news to take , this coming less than a year after the passing of the first lady of Daptone Sharon Jones. I just so happy that Charles got the chance to show the world his gifts.

  10. That kind of robbery makes one miss Burrows.
  11. Some need immediate results and anything less is abject failure. Others refer to the stat sheets and Fenwick/Corsi as the only way to gauge Gudbranson's worth. Both conveniently pass over the facts you've presented as it doesn't serve their pointed narrative. Having a defenseman with his capabilities is crucial for any team. Not every defenseman will be an offensive force, weaving through the opposition and potting 30 goals. Some defensemen need to provide security for the goalie and pain for the opposition. I think Linden, Benning, and Green realize how valuable a defenseman of Gudbranson's stature and capability is, and don't pay any mind to the peanut gallery.
  12. Dan "Family Man" Hamhuis was a great Canuck and probably would have liked to retire as one, much like Bieksa, but alas, it wasn't in the cards. Great defenseman and all around human.
  13. Gudbranson is going to be a force this year.
  14. Yes indeed. I have a funny feeling that he and Del Zotto are going to find some serious chemistry and make some noise on the blueline. Del Zotto is no stranger to a good hit and with such a stalwart stay at home defenseman (suck it analytics weasels!) he'll have a lot more room to play his offensive game.
  15. Exactly. The overall approach to the game should involve more physical play. Not just fighting. Hitting. Staying strong on the puck. Not backing down or letting someone repeatedly slap you. Well said, lucky. I think an overall pack mentality is woefully overdue for this team, and having guys like Dorsett and Gudbranson help that cause innumerably. I like the fact that White is looking at the PTO with all intentions of making the team, as this team needs far more feistiness and aggression to go with the young skilled and fast players. I'm hoping Kane is as intent on signing with Vancouver, as I've heard.
  16. I don't see a whole lot of fights occurring this season. For me, as a fairly long-time fan, I'm hoping for: a far more aggressive forecheck far more aggressive positioning in front of the net and in the corners, and seeing the majority of the players finishing their checks with some form of authority. I'm all for the spontaneous fisticuffs once in a while, but would much rather have a team that plays with a greater sense of self, that makes the other team pay for it. An overall more confident presence that doesn't shrink after a couple of hits.
  17. I totally agree that one player on the ice isn't sufficient, but if Gudbranson is on the ice, I fully expect him to skate his merry way down the ice to help the opposing player get used to their new face. That being said, I hope Dorsett is well enough to get back into the swing of things, because as Canucks fans know, the division has not only improved in the speed and skill department, but has also added some heft and toughness. I'm looking forward to Evander Kane reaching free agency next July and Benning making a serious play for him, which would give the Canucks the rarest of things, legit fearlessness and toughness in the top 6. In the meantime, if Dorsett's neck is f'ed, I'd hope that White makes a case for himself and provides some serious pushback for the bottom six.
  18. I agree. I think Hutton will play with a defined balance of his burgeoning skill, speed, and a healthy dose of physicality. I hearken back to that thunderous hit he leveled on a player towards the end of the season. I forgot the player, but Hutton's hit was awesome.
  19. Sometimes it's just not worth it.

  20. War of the Planet of the Apes. Fantastic film. Truly a great movie.
  21. Canucks Army is the biggest load of a blog that's out there. There one army that I'd be happy knowing is completely obliterated.
  22. Looking forward to see what Hutton brings this fall. I wonder if Ben realized the play on words there regarding Travis giving the Green light.
