  1. Is it just me or does the picture of Boeser donning his jersey seem to include a guy taking in a big, loving scent of Brock's arm?

  2. I love quotations. "All he has is his good looks and charming personality but I guess that's enough to fool a lot of people into thinking he's good." This seems like a bit of a shot on the guy. Having different opinions doesn't make one a troll at all. It's your candor in your posts and how you discount what others say. I can? Aw thanks! I saw a player who struggled as well, but realized that he had been traded and, as with any player, had to acclimate himself to a whole new team, coach, division, and conference. Adjusting takes time. Excuses....yeah and you've played hockey at the NHL level to qualify that? Yet Gudbranson was a valued teammate and fan favorite....do you understand that? Team sports actually involves more than just a bunch of calculator jockeys standing around a screen counting zone entries and pass percentages. Gudbranson wasn't a valued teammate because he bought everyone hoagies or dressed well. Luongo valued him as a defenseman, and Mitchell, who is highly regarded as a great defenseman obviously appreciated Gudbranson's game. The insight of actual athletes who are accustomed to the rigors and challenges of playing the NHL is far more valuable over the long run than the malarkey you're selling here.
  3. And do you understand that your precious analytics aren't the be all and end all when determining a player's worth to a team? You seem on some personal vendetta, to defame and besmirch Gudbranson's name, much like the rest of the analytics community. I'm not interested in determining what you should say. That's of no interest to me, I just get extremely tired of analytics only posters who enjoy trolling other posters. That would be you. Not convenient. As a hockey fan, I can choose whether or not I include analytics in my appreciation of the game, and if I do choose to, how much of my observations of the game I choose to prop up with analytics versus just enjoying the sport and enjoying some of the finer nuances of the game that aren't dictated by Corsi and Fenwick. Gudbranson's year here started badly due to a wrist injury sustained in the pre-season. So right out of the gate, he was: playing injured playing in a new conference and division playing on a new team with a rookie coach who was as squirrelly as &^@# learning new systems with a new defensive partner, who was 6 months his junior, yet he was given the role of veteran in the pairing But, yeah, Gudbranson is a joke. Roberto Luongo and Willie Mitchell are chumps who have far less insight into the game than you..... Did Gudbranson do something to you personally? You seem extremely spiteful whenever anyone defends the guy.
  4. And your argument is better because you have a calculator shoved up your ass?
  5. No point in arguing with JD Burke, Sam. He knows more than anyone else and relies solely on a diet of analyticzzzzzz. It's like throwing a hot dog down a hallway.
  6. Without a doubt. I just don't understand the mindset of those who would essentially invite a conflict, where the outcome could be apocalyptic, onto themselves and their people.
  7. In the event that war, on the international level, did occur, who would benefit or profit from a nuclear winter, or end of humanity?
  8. So Florida just made Shawn Thornton the vice president of Business Operations for the Panthers. Plumb that vast intellect, Viola!

Absolutely disgraceful that they'll allow that piece of garbage to be in a leadership position.  The NHL is an absolute joke for letting him anywhere near the sport after somehow he avoided prison for his assault on Orpik.

  9. Anyone here use those Gotham steel pots and/or pans? I bought some last night after partaking in something.

I think 'shopping while high' should be it own thread tbh.

  10. The worst is when you're sending a text and the word you're typing is replaced with a word that has a way worse connotation, but you've sent the message already. The biggest culprit in my experience has been trust being replaced by thrust.
  11. I know Maroon is making millions, but having 42 pairs of pants seems a bit excessive.
  12. Totally. Fans have watched teams essentially have their way with the Canucks for years, and it's demoralizing. Seeing a team that's playing hard for each other, and not only able to hold their own, but impose their will on the opposition would be something that would bring people in. Couple that with some exciting young players who are built to score, and things don't look so miserable during the rebuild.
  13. Without a doubt, spook. I think the average Canucks fan would definitely be on board with that approach.
  14. Peluso too one dimensional? I'd hope that all three put in a strong camp and make the team, personally, but time in the minors especially considering the present state of the team, wouldn't be the worst thing for some of them. I do hope that the Canucks don't resign the Sedins. They have been great for the team, but it's time to move on from them and let them retire, IMHO. I'd prefer that the team look at bringing in veterans who could instill a stronger, pack mentality mindset within the young players. Fair enough.
  15. I'd be fine with some signings for the third and fourth lines that would help to insulate the younger players trying to battle for a position there. Pure role players like Dwight King and Anthony Peluso come to mind. Sign them to bring the body and give the younger players some confidence to play with.
  16. Teams that are one note types never get far. The Canucks are loading up on smaller, faster skilled players as of late, and could use some size to protect these guys if they make the team. There is nothing worse than a smaller skilled player getting pasted to the boards or pummeled by a larger player with no answer from their teammates. That lack of presence and response not only gives a team the reputation as a pushover, but damages the confidence of the player being pummeled and spreads like wildfire through the roster. The Canucks need to develop the goal scorers and snipers to be as effective and dangerous as possible, all the while providing them with the "safe working environment" that players need especially in the West.
  17. Exactly. As proven by the Soilers/Ducks series, size and the ability to use it is clearly still at a premium, and remains a factor in the playoffs. Gudbranson was roasted by the Yostian clowns who watch games with calculators. They completely ignored the fact that he had to acclimate himself to a completely new team/conference/division and was battling some injuries almost at the outset of the season. It was far easier to just write him off as a horrible player because twerps like JD Burke said analyticzzz sez so. I'm truly looking forward to next season and how Gudbranson establishes himself. And in turn, how that gives the Canucks a stronger spine and mentality.
  18. Exactly. Gudbranson isn't afraid of anyone in the league and plays an honest, hard game. It's been a long time since the Canucks have had such an intimidating physical presence on the back end.
  19. Against San Jose, LA, and Calgary he was completely ineffective.
  20. It's not what he's thinking, it's how he looks on the ice. He looks like a man possessed in the games for Sweden. He never played with that fire once this season.
