  1. I'd say skill level wise, he'd absolutely be ready. He probably needs time to adjust as a center and being on NA ice though.
  2. Brock should definately make the team. He might lead preseason in goals and points when its all set and done. He'll get a lot of minutes these next two games so he'll get opportunities.
  3. He looked great today. Looked like he was trying way harder and making good decisions. I know hockey iq is "unteachable" but he actually looked like he was making smarter plays, reading the play better and covering for defenseman when they stepped up. His weight loss + Effort level is showing.
  4. I mean they had similar stats but Pettersson is younger so I'd say that Pettersson is the better prospect. I'd put him 3 or 4 right now (on the prospect pool), but he could be #1 after a few months.
  5. Good value at 33, could have gone 24-30
  6. Demko has red-ish hair too. I would say return of the goalie controversy, but it never left in the first place.
  7. Pretty good draft for us. I'm confused about the Gunnarson pick, but that's just one pick. Pettersson has so much upside.
  8. Hertl and Necas have different skillsets and also probably had different situations. I think it also helps that Necas is a center (or at least I think). As for Mittelstadt, when he played in the USHL he produced like a top 10 pick. So obviously he played more than he should have in high school but his production in the USHL was pretty good and his skillset is pretty special.
  9. In that case, Petan would have been a star. It's not just about numbers, it's how they play and their skillset. He has special skillsets as a offensive defenseman, which could turn him into a top scoring defenseman. Based on his skillset, his WJAC and his season as a whole, he should be a top 10 pick. Now am I saying he's a star for sure? No way, and he is a risky pick. But what I'm saying is his ceiling is high, and you can't deny that.
  10. Guys who are great offensive d-men will usually find ways to get better defensively (Karlsson, Ellis, etc). So u can teach a guy like Makar how to defend, but its harder to teach a guy like Gudbranson how to be a good offensive d man. Makar has a high ceiling that might possibly make him into the best player in the draft. I think that's why scouts love him. There's some risk, but I think he'll find ways to succeed.
  11. This is the statistics I was looking at: http://collegehockeyinc.com/stats/filters17.php He's 16-13 on the faceoffs so far this year, was 24-21 last year. Seems like he's taking a lot more faceoffs this year playing with gersich and jost.
  12. I actually think he had/has a over 50% faceoff percentage last year and this year so far.
  13. I checked the stats, and it actually seems like he's regularly taking faceoffs but not all the time. He had like 25 faceoffs taken in the first 4 games I think.
  14. So he has 16 shots on goal in only 2 games so far? That's really impressive. I think we can all agree that Jim finds pretty good talent.
  15. Yeah, I think it helped him out because he was in better position to get one timers and blocker side shots off. I prefer him being a LW too.
  16. Explain to me where I said every player? I said has the potential, no guaruntees. Read before you speak.
  17. Raffi Torres has had like 1 or 2 40 point seasons and was still a fringe 2nd-3rd line player. Virtanen had 45 goals in the whl and has a lethal shot and skates like the wind. He has the potential to be a 30 goal scorer. Will he consistently be a 30 goal scorer? Probably not. But I can see 1 or 2 30 goal seasons in his career. Raffi was bit unfortunate because 8 times out of ten I bet raffi would have turned into a consistant top 6 player but he didn't become one. I think virts gonna be a consistent 45-55 point scorer with 60 points in his prime.
  18. I agree with everything you said there. He's looking good so far. The good thing about him is that he isn't just a soft guy who can't play defense, he's a two way guy that we can play on the bottom 6 effectively.
  19. Comparing to bertuzzi is silly, but also comparing him to Torres is also silly and overreacting to junior stats. People give up on players so easily nowadays. Virt to me is in his prime a consistent 50-60 point player who can get 30 goals, which is not raffi Torres. Of course he won't be bertuzzi, but he's no raffi Torres.
  20. Yup. Looking pretty damn good
  21. I was pumped when I heard that Virtanen worked out and gained more muscle while working on parts of his game. He's going to be a force soon.
  22. He'll be good, but not Patrick Kane good. I've watched him and when not playing in the ohl he's been not noticeable or ok at best. At the same time he's been a star in the ohl but I see more 60-70 point scorer, probably not a PPG guy.
  23. Lol people already calling him a 3rd liner in the future when he was arguably 3rd line material last year. Top advanced stats on the team, while having a great physical presence.
