I thought there were limits on goalie gear sizes? Vasilevskiy looks like he wears 3 pairs of goalie pants

It only took Boudreau 7 games to get these guys back to .500 and it's not even January 1st. Dare I say playoffs are a possibility again?

The one thing I'm going to find interesting to see is. Benning for some reason had patience for some prospects, and zero patience for others. I'd like to see how the new
President and GM manage our prospects. Will we also see better development? Benning could scout, but he was like a lot of other Vancouver GM's he was lousy on
the development and managing aspect.
I think of development being more of a coaching responsibility. And it didn’t help matters when you have consecutive rookie coaches who are probably more concerned about their own survival than helping young players. Remember the “this isn’t a development league” mantra?

Take note Travis, line blenders aren't the only answer

Pearson with a 4th line shift? This is all falling into place nicely

Boys look like a new team.

If Benning's on thin ice any change of coach would just be an interim appointment. Don't see the big coaches available jumping at that choice without long term contract protection, which I also don't see the owner agreeing to. Be careful what you wish for, all signs point to another inexperienced/ rookie coach if Green is cut loose imo.

PK at 66% is still an improvement, right?

It's slightly different here...the Oilers had FOUR #1 picks in a six year span. That's some kind of failure, but it also maybe shows how tough it is despite the roster (coaching and supporting staff really matter). Which is what we're experiencing with a much lesser pool of players. "On paper" Edmonton had a lot to work with.
Oh, god yes the Oilers had copious amounts of horseshoes up their butt and still managed to fail, I don't dispute that. My point is that there were plenty of us who thought that we were better than the Oilers for turning the corner without the benefit of draft lottery wins when reality is proving to be something quite different.

Well not sure which decade you'd be referring too.
The "decade of darkness" is in reference to the Oilers rebuild (coined by their own fans I believe), which more than a few of us on here laughed about over the last couple of years.... it doesn't seem so funny now that we are on the bottom looking up.

I remember when "a decade of darkness" sounded like a ridiculous amount of time in which to rebuild a franchise.....and now its sounds perfectly reasonable haha.

I wonder why I always hear that “the NHL isn’t a developmental league” but the Canucks have hired back to back rookie coaches.

He made all his money back by betting against the Canucks in the 3 road games.
It’s an interesting point, wonder if the owners are allowed to bet on their own teams?

Benning and Green should both get their walking papers, but given the amount of money that Francesco has lost these last 2 years it probably won't happen

Keep Green. It’s the (Shane) Wright move.

Credit to Demko and the boys for persevering, they needed a win. OEL on PP1 is good. Garland with Petey is good (and could be just what he needs to get going). Podkolzin getting ice time is good. Chiasson is bad. Like Wtf bad.
-
Chiasson and Green can both go take a hike.

No sense in firing Green if Benning just replaces him with another rookie like Cull. Who's available (and not named Quennville)?
-
Is it Green’s system? If you asked him in private he’d probably say the players aren’t executing his system correctly, there’s 2 sides to the story. It’s been interesting listening to Hirsch do color commentary for the last couple of games, he’s not everybody’s cup of tea but he understands the technical side of the game well enough that he can see the flaws in our defensive game. He’s also right in that fixing those flaws when you are on a long road trip is near to impossible. Hopefully the boys can crawl back home at .500 and get the ship turned around.

I was reading on Reddit and it looked like some fans actually expect OEL to be a solid top pairing guy.
I personally think that any fans expecting a 1/2 guy are going to be disappointed. My expectation is a #3 guy who can put up 30-40 points. He's overpaid, but that's irrelevant to me. All I care about is how he plays going forward and I'm okay with him being a #3-level guy. Fans expecting him to be a #2 or especially a #1 d-man are going to be very disappointed IMO.
Sounds like Edler but at 7.25 per.

(Rumour) 4 teams interested in J.T. Miller

After 271 games as a Canuck Miller has the second highest ppg average in the history of the franchise. I’m glad Alvin didn’t bend over just to make a deal.
