We move closer to that everyday Alf, show a little patience. Twins are gone after next year (if not others as well) and we will have plenty of room for youth in the top six.
-
For personal reasons I'd rather he was in Van too, when he's on his game he's a beauty to watch. But the last time he was here he was only getting 8-12 minutes a night and was getting iced with the fourth line. Until there's room for him in the top six and PP2, keep in him in Utica and let him develop his goal scoring instincts again. We really need him to develop into a top six threat and he's not going to get that opportunity in Vancouver this year.

There really is nothing to be gained (other than for Jake financially). Let him be top dog for a while.

Exactly the cookie cutter kind of comments you want to hear from a pro, but I have no doubt that if it had been one of the "A-list" reporters from TSN or SN asking the questions that they would have been skewed to brew controversy. He's in a good place to develop both on and off the ice imo.

His yard sale on the Hansen fly by was pretty epic as well. I'm wearing homer glasses here but Kings and Ducks fans will tell you the same thing- Wingels never misses an opportunity to sell a call.
-
The only thing Tommy Wingels likes about contact is an opportunity to fake being tripped.

Slasher or thriller ?

"Stranger things" on NF today. For those of us old enough to remember a brilliant nod to "E.T.", "Stand by me" and "Close Encounters". Younger generations would probably liken it a little to "Super 8" but that movie sucked so do yourself a favor and don't. Probably the most authentic 80's feel to film or TV I've seen, well, since the 80's. Oh, and somebody in the show has the best name ever- Finn Wolfhard !

Incredible episode, it really feels like the show has finally reached the crest of the hill and things are about to start picking up speed. Before season 6 started, I was completely puzzled at the rumors about there only being potentially 15 more episodes for season's 7 and 8 because it felt like there was too many unresolved story lines still in play. 5 episodes later though, things are starting to come together nicely. Extremely hard watching the end of 6X5 though, a poignant ending to a six year story arc.

Ducks first playoff game is on Friday, that would be my guess.

Scatchard ?

Let's hope the present form is fleeting Deb and he can rediscover some magic. Burr just seems, for the lack of a better term, "off" this year, whether it's the result of a lost step, the mediocrity he's surrounded with or just father time I don't know.

Ya, I don't get the pinstripe thing- when did the Tigers ever wear pinstripes ? During the 1920's ?

I don't think junior is the best place for Jake because he needs to learn the finer points of the game, put him back down against 17 and 18 year olds and it's too easy for him to dominate and slip into the same old habits. Ideally he would get to spend more time with Green in Utica but as that's a no-go then I'd rather he stayed with the Canucks. I can't speak for the level of coaching in Calgary but I don't see Jake showing the signs of being very well coached while he was there.
-
No worries, for the record I think the potential in Jake is off the charts but he is a little out of his depth this year. He's got the size and tools of a full grown man but he's struggling to handle the thinking side of the game, probably because he's still just a kid lol. That being said I think it would have been a waste of time keeping him with the Hitmen, he's moved beyond that level too. He reminds me a lot of Bure the way he can beat defensemen out wide and that's as rare a skill in the game nowadays as any.

You are right, he did back check Alf and that is something positive. But that should have been the easy part.
-
He pointed out one mistake, and then balanced it out by pointing out the positives he also saw in his game, hardly a reactionary post. And I, like any fan of the team, want all of our draft picks to succeed ( I believe I mentioned that). Pointing out mistakes that players have made doesn't automatically show our "bias against them".
-
What ? that post was as "glass half full" as it gets, hardly critical. Also, that play he was referring to was something I'd expect to see out of a peewee house leaguer, not a top ten draft pick in the NHL so he's hardly going over the top there. We (Canuck fans) all want our draft picks to succeed, especially a local kid, but that doesn't mean they are above criticism when they eff up.

I've got to admit it, when I saw Hutton play once on T.V. last season, I really didn't get all of the hype. This preseason however, he has been a revelation. He has a calmness and vision with the puck in the O-zone that we haven't had since Sami left. It's obviously only preseason but last nights game against SJ actually got kind of real after Virts stirred things up and if anything Hutton looked even better when that happened. I wouldn't lose my mind if he has to go down to the A to get top four minutes, but he has to be the first call up for injury.

It's not about ethics though, it's about winning. If putting Lucic with the twins meant winning playoff games/series I'd do it in a heartbeat. And I don't think Benning is trying to build a "classy" team, he's trying to build a fast, physical team. If Lucic had been their line-mate when Keith threw that elbow he would have been drinking his meals through a straw if he was even stupid enough to try to do it in the first place. That being said, his character reputation is kinda Orc-like.
