  1. Teams should be allowed to spend over the salary cap by any amount.
The caveat is, teams can only dress players up to the salary cap amount on any given game.

This is better for the game as teams would be able to ice the best team possible, not dress guys just because they make too much money.
For example, the Canucks would not have had to buy out OEL. If he isn't one of your top six defenseman, he can sit in the press box without it hitting the teams game-to-game salary cap and we can make actual transactions to improve our defense. Players would have to earn their ice time, not have it guaranteed because they make more money than an AHL player that might deserve it more.

Sure, some markets would have the financial ability to sign more talented players than others, but that won't allow teams to be overpowered on a game to game basis as the salaries still need to fit within the game-to-game cap. Also, how many star players would be happy sitting a bunch of games knowing they won't all be allowed to play at the same time?

Remember when the offseason used to be more fun and interesting?
This rule would make roster construction a lot more interesting again whereas right now making any trade is near impossible with the mental gymnastics it takes to work around the bad contracts most teams are stuck with. Sure, a lot of those are mistakes are the fault of the GMs, but rules should favour putting the most entertaining product on the ice as possible, not punishing GMs that made poor moves as all that does is punishes the paying customer.

Tell me I'm wrong, and why.

  2. This is the last time I'll say it. Abolish anthems before games. It's guys playing a sport for entertainment, not a solemn occasion.
The Canucks barely have any Canadians on their roster anyways.
Instead, every team should have their own anthem/fight song.

Have local bands perform the song before games.

In fairness, other than BoHo (who's got his own sideshow going on at the moment), what specifically is there to be positive about?

We're living the exact same cycle of mediocrity right now as we have been for the past decade and there is zero indication this will change anytime soon.

We're only a year away from the next intermission dog race
