  1. My condolences to advertisers who have ads on the other end of the ice.
  2. Bo is a beast. No disrespect to Hoglander for being put in the top 6 at his age, but imagine if he had an elite winger to play with. He'd be in conversation with a very high calibre of players. The guy has had no consistency in linemates his whole career.
  3. This might just be a myth passed down from generation to generation, but our ancestors used to tell tales of Jimmy Vesey’s offensive upside. The elders say that if you tap into your third eye when the sun and moon are aligned just right, you may even catch a glimpse of it.
  4. It was a thing that happened. I'll take anything in a Canucks - Sens game.
  5. A bargain of a deal in exchange for Jake sitting five minutes.
  6. Yeah, it sounds like since India only has a vax ate of 8% they don't have much data to see how it does against the variant.
  7. I agree with every thought here regarding Tryamkin. Only thing I disagree with is that I don't think Edler is going to retire. I think he comes back on a team friendly deal for at least one more season, which creates a logjam of uncertain options on the left side. Quinn is obviously 1LD. Then we have: Juolevi, who we hope takes the next step and is a fulltime top 6 next season. Tryamkin, who wants to play in the top 4 and refused to go to Utica prior. Rathbone, who we also hope will take the NHL step next season. Edler, who I believe will return and will definitely not be a 7D or Utica-bound. Something will have to give.
  8. Those numbers are staggering Proportionally, that's not too far off from ours in Canada. 40x the population, 36x the daily cases. But like you say, the population and especially the density of the population is what could make this exponentially worse for India for the next little while. That's a devastating hit to a nation and to humanity itself.
  9. Personally, seeing the amount of people here would disturb me too. But aren't the people in this image adequately distanced apart? Maybe the angle or perspective of the photo doesn't show the whole picture, but it looks like people are sticking to their families in that pic.
  10. I have to agree. I was a big supporter of Dr. Henry and the work they did early in the pandemic. And I am all for changing protocols based on new scientific data. And I don't want to sound like a conspiracy theorist, but it doesn't always appear that decisions are made based only on science. Today, Americans are talking about when they'll need their third dose of the vaccine next year. And here most of us sit wondering what it's like to receive one.
  11. The idea has been floated around and it makes sense. But the last I heard, the NHL is not considering it at this time (I can't remember who, but I believe a guest on Donnie and Dahli last week mentioned it), which is ridiculous.
  12. Agree. The players ARE the NHL ad need to be protected as such. Everyone else is replaceable (except maybe Gritty)
  13. Is it too late to bring Gaudette back and make him captain for a few weeks? I hear he has some gaming chops.
  14. This is exactly it. The covid situation is bad on its own. The schedule is bad on its own. Compounding the two together and I'd say the chances that there are NO long term effects for anyone has to be near zero. But I guess its important for McDavid and Matthews to score a few more goals against us.
  15. Don't worry. The league will continue to make us pay until the end of time if we cancel the Leafs HNIC broadcast this weekend.
  16. Benning: ”With Adam Gaudette, with him we just felt it was time for a change of scenery” “we were expecting him to come in and take another step. We didn’t really feel like he did that” “we just felt like Matthew Highmore plays a more complete two-way game” These quotes from Benning don’t sound like they loved the way Gaudette was developing.
  17. Gaudette was in no position to ask for a trade. Even if he did, JB has no obligation to honour it. If Gaudette wanted out, JB would've either gotten more in return, or waited until there was a better deal on the table. But he didn't. There was urgency on management's end to take such a seeminglessly pointless deal. To only receive Highmore looks to me like the team simply gave up on Gaudette and had to move him before he becomes an RFA, have to waste expansion protection on him, or lose him to Seattle for nothing. The team lost faith in Gaudette. Highmore is better than nothing. That's all it is.
  18. A chance at a playoff run and a showcase for a contract in the offseason will make Ben Hutton the biggest Leafs fan
  19. Would be a shame to burn a year of his ELC on this nothing season.
  20. That’s the same reasoning that got us a few other bad contracts on the team. We filled it with guys like Rous and Beags to insulate guys who may not be ready yet. But our young players, for the most part, seem to fill in admirably for them when needed. And that’s what I see will happen with Pearson. You’re telling me if Pearson isn’t there, none of Podz, Mac, Gauds, or any cheaper free agent or prospect in our system would be miles worse than Pearson? I see Pearson as a marginally better option than most of our young players right now, but not $3.25/3 times better. You say the team could move salary if they need to but we have seen no evidence the team is capable of doing so. So that’s where a lot of trepidation from the fans comes from. This deal isn’t terrible but I can’t agree that it has to be done right now.
