  1. No doubt the time is coming when they're going to have to make a serious decision on Gaunce. He's a bit of an x-factor going forward. As long as he has good camp next fall, I'd prefer to see about finding a use for his size and IQ rather than trying to make Vey try and produce offence as a 3C, displacing Sutter in the process.
  2. Go back and consider ForsbergTheGreat's post on waiver restrictions regarding the RFAs.
  3. So you think there's no issue with roster space?
  4. Yeah, when it comes to Burrows, it's all about roster space. That will also be the determining factor in why Vey won't be back and McCann will start in Utica. And even with those moves, the Canucks still have 11 forward spots locked up. And then there's the possibility of Rodin on top of that. Something has to give.
  5. It's been that way for some time now. Sadly, the Canucks were about the last team on the league to figure that out.
  6. We aren't exactly rolling in clover with them.
  7. Exactly. Money aside, there's no room at the inn. Burrows would be a waste of a roster spot. It's time.
  8. Burrows has one more year after this. Two years would have sent me into a mental darkness.
  9. Burrows would be a useful depth player for some playoff team. Do him a favour and send him to the Habs for free. No salary retention, no asset coming back....done deal. And $4.5M more for July 1.
  10. Would it really make a difference if he had scored one of the 10? Really? He's an 18-year-old playing at the WJC...being there can only help his development no matter how much he doesn't score.
  11. Naw, it was the reverberations of one of Pedan's hits from Monday.
  12. It felt a like a regulation shaker. The Nisqually quake from 2001 was the one that really felt like there was something serious going on. That one felt like King Kong had grabbed the bottom corner of the building and was trying to lift it up.
  13. The Devils are here on Nov.22 and I hope Tootoo challenges Burrows to drop the mitts. Duke it out....old school.
  14. So why is it that he gets no respect? Any ideas?
  15. Tootoo is a (reformed) addict, has some baggage in his life and plays on the edge. Based on these factors, I have no place to question his character. He's done things to correct his life and move forward and play the sport he loves, as any of us would hope he would strive to be able to do. Burrows has a heavy rep for running his mouth in an unflattering way. If it quacks like a duck...
  16. If Tootoo was accusing Jared McCann or Dan Hamhuis of this, I'd doubt it. But he's not. He's talking about Burrows, you know, the guy who has a history of this kind of thing.
  17. Deb, if that's the way you view these things, that's fine. Not everyone on the ice is into trash-talking, but there are some rats who try to drag anyone and everyone into it. I'm not trying to justify it or not justify it. I've heard 15-year-olds say some things on the ice you wouldn't believe. But based on this case, I tend to believe Tootoo as opposed to not believe him. Burrows has a history of this stuff.
  18. Considering the time when Burrows lifted up some snow off the ice on his stickblade and held it up to Mike Richards, I don't doubt Tootoo's allegations at all.
  19. No there's never been a Surrey WHL team....and I wouldn't think there will be a name change.
  20. The Toigos have been in negotiations with the City of Surrey to build an arena somewhere along Skytrain, which they deem as important for future success of the franchise. Surrey is building a two-plex of rinks down near the Scott Road Skytrain station and have enough room on that parcel for a facility to house sporting tenant. From the noise going on, it sounds as if Surrey will supply the land for the facility for free, with private investors paying to build the place. I would then imagine some sort of joint arrangement between the two in terms of the management of it. I think the new building needs to be at least 7,000 seats and probably more like 8,000. I believe the plot of land is 57 acres, so the two-plex and the Giants' new home will all easily fit on it. The old Surrey Rec Centre will then be demolished, as it sticks out like a sore thumb now with all the recent construction at Central City. I wouldn't be surprised if this is all finalized and announced by the end of summer, but who knows.
  21. Business-wise, the losses won't matter too much because they'll be in Surrey in a brand new building in 2 years.
  22. It seems Molleken came here because he had no other options and the Giants were adamant about getting someone with Dub experience after last year's disaster with Troy G. Ward. All-in-all, it seems like a forced fit. But at least Molleken likes having a tough team, so the Giants could be more interesting for that alone.
