  1. It will take a few weeks to see directions taking shape, but this game to me underscores the fact that the prior group wasn't going to be able to fix anything.
  2. I don't really think that happened much. But Travis didn't have the answers either, and the players became aware of that. They lost confidence in him.
  3. "Jim, get out there and tell 'em Green has been relieved of his duties. Then follow that up by making the same announcement about yourself."
  4. Yeah. I just had visions of Baumer spilling my fries across the floor.
  5. Fun fact: Bruce Boudreau becomes the first coach in the history of the Vancouver Canucks who appeared in Slap Shot.
  6. The lump in Aquilini's throat today is all the money he's swallowing.
  7. We like disasters like we like pizza and beer. Bring on the wreckage. We're brave.
  8. I think it's more likely Boudreau has a stroke watching the current versions Pete and Bess play. The roster is ripe for some serious ass-chewing.
  9. I'm not sure what to think. Coaching is such a touchy, feely issue .... far more than GM. I can see things improving and I can see things continue to sputter. Boudreau isn't bringing any top-4 Dmen on the plane with him.
  10. Jim did some good drafting, but even there his record is somewhat overrated. His FA spending was pretty atrocious. Trades .... eh ... average at best. But actual on-ice results are the currency you can't argue with. This has become a dysfunctional team and there's a lot reasons why and lots of people to point fingers at. Jim rolled some serious dice on OEL this summer and I appreciated that. But even though OEL (and Garland) has been okay, the resulting mess of this season is hard to accept or overlook. As others have pointed out, Jim seems to have difficulty in building a cohesive roster. It's really just a collection of mostly unconnected parts. He had time, he did some good things, but the direction of the team in the here and now justifies his firing. Tough business this.
