  1. Well your statement of tourism is way off the mark. Many of the local golf courses and their restaurants did record business over the summer and surprise surprise most of the tourists were Albertans along with their RVs, boats, quads, side by sides and various other toys. Not to mention buying up local real estate. Seems to me they are still doing well for the most part and I am quite sure they could afford a sales tax to preserve healthcare. As for the corporate welfare and lack of environmental regulations in Alberta was/is a crying shame. As for jobs there are still lots for Albertans just not many for the thousands of workers from other provinces. So who is really hurting? And yes a lot of Albertas problems stem from 40 years of inept government.
  2. This lies squarely on the shoulders of the federal government. 21 years of inaction has led to this. This is a prime example of systematic racism made even worse with overt racism. However I do have some understanding for the fishermen trying to ensure protection of the lobster stocks. I don’t blame them for not trusting the Feds to protect the stock as the Feds have already botched other fisheries spectacularly.
  3. Really...taxes on the rich are at historical lows. How is it working out?
  4. Exactly the teams around us have not improved to speak of. Mostly shuffling the deck chairs. Vegas improves on D slightly but lost forwards. Oilers got Berry as a replacement for Klefboum and gained a bit of depth. A wash. The teams below us got worse. The Flames slightly and the Yotes a lot.
  5. You are only seeing a small part of the big picture. Small town government isn’t much more than the PTA. Even the Feds dance to the Corporate greed. Not to mention the MIC.
  6. What did the Flames do to improve? Goaltending improved some but D got a lot younger and thinner.
  7. I agree. We lost Marky but we have Demko who just keeps getting better and a solid goalie who may well be rejuvenated moving to a new team. We lost Tanev but we picked up an upgrade. We lost Toffoli who would have been nice to keep around but he only played 17 games. So not really much difference and we may still pick up another forward at the next trade deadline. We lost “Tony” who most of us liked but room and cap had to be made for the youngsters who I think will be able fill in just fine.
  8. So do you think we are still a playoff team? Some at Cowgary puck as well as some of the leastern press think otherwise.
  9. I would just start signing a different tune and I assure you it would be off key.
  10. Not free for you or me. Private makes it much easier to line pockets while they drain ours.
  11. Well a lot of us in the East Kootenay learned 1st year plumbing... sheet runs down hill. Vancouver is the bottom of the hill like most cities and nothing more than a ravenous cesspool. All I can say about cities is that there has to be a better way to live. Now how about we get back to hockey.
  12. Wow finally made it to the end of the thread. My two cents worth ... it wasn’t a good trade, it wasn’t a great trade, it wasn’t a perfect trade. It was an Awesome trade.
  13. Who is there to buyout that makes any sense. Loui’s contract is buyout proof and Bear costs more to buyout than not. Sutter is still some what useful.
  14. I am really getting a kick out of those going on about the Canucks cap problems. They would be losing their minds if the Canucks were actually in the top ten teams for cap troubles.
  15. Lucky you...I had five sisters.
  16. One thing I have noticed is that there is a lot more Canucks speculation stories this year after what they did in the playoffs. Before all the players were going to the Leafs or Oilers and Flames.
  17. A Trumper is a right leaning Boomer for the most part. Hence the OK.
