Well your statement of tourism is way off the mark. Many of the local golf courses and their restaurants did record business over the summer and surprise surprise most of the tourists were Albertans along with their RVs, boats, quads, side by sides and various other toys. Not to mention buying up local real estate.
Seems to me they are still doing well for the most part and I am quite sure they could afford a sales tax to preserve healthcare. As for the corporate welfare and lack of environmental regulations in Alberta was/is a crying shame.
As for jobs there are still lots for Albertans just not many for the thousands of workers from other provinces. So who is really hurting?
And yes a lot of Albertas problems stem from 40 years of inept government.
