ok fine...but mg is bad
-
please don't got to law school or do anything required with math or logic
-
are you going to be saying that if we dont make the playoffs?

Lou is playing much better hockey, he is giving up fewer rebounds (one of his weaknesses it the past), he is alot more square to shooters making it look easier (less desperation saves). His only real weaknes continues to be post to post from right to left, where still finds his face plants alot...but other than that, he actually has improved. these people bashing expect a goalie to stop a one timer 4 feet above the crease from richards and kopitar, who are untouched and when the canuck players behind the net turn the puck over lol...clearly they have never played hockey. I did in junior B and i could have beat Lou with those passes, hell a good midget player could, it was no chance on either. by the time he's turning his head in front the puck is already 3/4 of the way to him...its simply impossible to react on those plays. he just needs to have been lucky and have the puck hit him. the only way the puck hits him is if the players are harassed, if you leave richards and kopitar alone with time that close to the net vs. a goalie who isn't ready because there is no way he can be (ie get his head around fast enough), well they score - they are elite players and that's why. these bashers also forget the huge post to post save he made earlier. the only really terrible goal i've seen him let in during this mess was number 2 vs chicago, he should have had that one. would it have been nice if he got some puck luck and somehow stopped richards (as no one stops kopitar's shot)...yes was this his fault no 1-8 on the pp is garbage scoring less than 1.5 goals a game for the past 7 games is garbage lou is playing fine and very well. this team needs to find a way to actually score. (thus the reason i am critical of MG since this issue has been here for 4 years, a lack of a top six player who can help in times like now, in the playoffs etc). same old story for us...

i can't argue that , mg has made a mess of everything, but it doesn't mean you keep him to allow him to continue to do so. just as toronto's mess needed to be unwound so does this, the guy who put you there isn't the guy to clean it up

You are completely ignoring the crux of my points. a. Gillis has shown he can sign players - good b Gillis inherited the core of his team from Burke and Nonis and tinkered to get to the cup. This is a fact. He added some grinders/money ball players in 3 guys no one wanted, good moves but not core game breakers, Torres, no one wanted, Manny no one wanted, Lappy had a repuation, no one wanted. But credit...they worked out again not game breakers. He also allowed all those players to go along with glass which impacted our ability to play a tough game the following two years. c. His trades have been AWFUL. OTHER than Erhoff which was a cap dump that did FALL in his lap and work out he hasn't made any substantive trades to make this better. In fact, he has weakened this team by trading away our three best young players (when we lacked young talented depth) for projects and maybes. d. Schnieder, Coho and Grabner and a first rounder are , AS A FACT, WORTH MORE THAN KASSIAN, HORVAT AND BALLARD. These are HORRIFIC TRADES for a team that lacks offensive talent, youth and is cap compromised. e. You say he can't go and just move players (or a new gm) because of the NTC's. Well part of being a gm sir, is understanding player worth, and deciding if keeping or moving is worth it. And part of that involves offering a NTC or not. Offering them out like candy is a DECISION. If your DECISIONS THEN CONSTRAIN YOUR FUTURE OPTIONS THIS YOUR FAULT. f. Signing Lou to a monster deal when you had a great young goalie (and highly touted) was not smart, again it led him to make further bad decisions. g. you see, this man has made so many bad decisions he has handcuffed himself into a corner, as well as any future gm (much like ferguson did in toronto). h. for 4 years we have needed a real top 6 winger. he has not accomplished this, and all that has happened is he has handuffed himself. that is his job, saying ah well booth didnt work out, well he paid booth 4.25 and a ntc to work out. so how else are you going to judge him? you ignore his failures and credit his wins? please think a bit deeper.

keep ranting you wont change my mind child Kesler and the Sedins weren't the main reason we got there? Burrows? who signed him? Bieksa? who drafted him? hmmm you can argue till you're blue in the face but the only guys missing from the core there is Lou, Edler and Hammer So i'd say it was primarily Burke, then Nonis that impacted the run in 2011. MG tinkered, everyone can see that.
-
he's better than mg is my point, i never said he was the best option it was a sarcastic comment that the 14 yr old trolls jump on...
-
gillis's team was built on the core developed by burke sorry
-
if you think mg has been effective at trading players you certainly must be doing some good 'bc stuff'
-
well said, and i agree...seems like this team really hasn't learned to play with swagger since that loss. there were glimpses of it tonight and i think that's why torts was happy, he's seeing what they can be, when they get angry, play together and fight for each other... he will use the tape of this game to show them...and i think even though we lost it may have a very important impact on them if we can ensure we make the playoffs. this was a 'team building' game, that's why torts was happy. he saw push back, he saw swagger, he saw an attitude of we are going to run you out of this building...which was followed by 2 mins of damn we haven't won in 8 games and are fragile lets not lose it, break down, loss... it will come....i did like the way the played other than the last 3 mins...
-
thanks...i think i clarified in my last post, point was indeed that mg is useless and burke can at least make effective trades
-
buddy take off the rose coloured glasses...we are not that great anymore...fine if you want to argue we're better than the leafs, but the point i was responding to was about burke burke inherited a team much like this, alot of overpaid players with ntc provided by ferguson and a lack of depth in the prospect ranks. toronto went from garbage to a team that can at least compete now when healthy burke made the boldest move this team has ever made, the sedins he drafted much of the team that went to the cup and moreover he can make a trade my point is simple, perhaps burke isn't even the right guy but he's better than gillis
-
that is fair...
-
I remember when people were screaming trade Bieksa when he was playing poorly...and look how he's playing now....
-
Leafs are a better team than vancouver and that team was built by Burke And umm...alot of this team was, certainly the team that went to the cup ....think a bit champ
-
learn about hockey child... yes stats tell you everything about why were are losing how bout this stat man tell me what are lou's stats in the last 8 games, where we've scored an average of <1.5 goals a game? lol oh ya i'm sure you'll be like that dolt from the other night basically complaining that its lou's fault we dont score more lol you know what child...i actually wanted us to keep schnieder. so if anyone is objective about lou its me and we aren't losing because of lou. we are losing because we go 1-8 on the pp, we are losing because we make boneheaded turnovers late in a game and ot and leave richards and kopitar (two olympians) open in the slot and alone to take their time... that's why...learn a bit about hockey before you 'rant'
-
bc Nolan ran from Kassian dude...
-
On a positive note If we don't make the playoffs, MG will be fired, Burke will be brought back and he'll make some bold moves!
-
dude wow today we got 2 goals! 1-8 on the pp! two give aways from BEHIND THE NET WITH A GUY SITTING IN THE SLOT UNTOUCHED TO ONE TIME ... WTF DO YOU THINK LOU IS SUPPOSED TO DO MAN?
-
booth also to blame 1. Elder doesn't need to chase behind the net with garrison is there and leave the crease 100% agreed, especially late in a game 2-1, terrible decision. 2. However, since he did, Booth as first man back needs to read that and go to the front of the net, or even to the post as an outlet pass for Edler. 3. Booth stopped above the circle. 4. Bad read by both Edler and Booth late in a game and it cost us 5. OT unlucky play Bieksa whiffed on the puck, nothing you can do. 99 times out of 100 he plays it along the boards.

torts wasn' t mad, he was happy the boys stood up....unlucky loss
