Kesler to detroit is interesting they have a lot of assets - 1st -sheahan -mantha -nyquist -Sproul -Dekeyser I'd go Kesler + Edler to Detroit or Carolina Detroit has all the assets and giving them detroit and Kesler makes them contenders again for sure - this puts them on par with Chicago when completely healthy Kesler + Edler+ 2nd+3rd for Franzen Mantha Sheahan Sproul

if it is Sutter, Pouliot, 1st, I would wait until the draft, at the draft other teams would prob be more interested which would drive the price up. Also, we will know who is picking and in what order, and we could package our first round pick to get a top asset. ex : Kesler + 1st for 2nd or 1st over all + a 2nd lesser asset it would be huge to get Reinhart or Ekblad

they got lucky - they got first overall picks or high picks when there were generational franchise players available - crosby, malkin, tows, kane, keith, letang, etc... both teams sucked for a long time, both teams are great american hockey markets with rich histories that attract a lot of interest from players around the league. The only proven way to rebuild is to suck and get good draft picks when generational players are available. So mind as well trade keeler, edler and luongo, get a lot of picks and prospects and tank for conor mcdavid and maybe tyson benson

it depends where the team is, if you were talking about the team we had in 2011 then yes, like if you were a contender and needed that last piece, that last gamebreaker then hell yeah, I mean I was hoping that we would have traded Hodgson in 2011 for a legit top 6 forward but instead we went bargain hunting, which I did not understand at all

go read hockeysfuture on this guy - projects as a future top 4 puck moving D man and he is 5'11 so we are moving kesler for a guy who is at best a top 4 d man and a career 3C and a 30th overall pick??? Kesler is a gamebreaker, I rather we just go for the best single asset we can get - if this is what the offers are then I would go kesler for strome straight up, that is better than the garbage Pitts is offering also hard to imagine PHI wouldn't try hard to at least match the offer

point being, if gillis goes for quantity like the Thornton trade or the Nash trade then we are screwed, look at stanley cup winnin teams, it is all about the best players being your best players and then your supporting cast steps up we do not need Sutter - we have Horvat, Gaunce, fox, cassels that may all end up being better than him

whats all the discussion about ? it is very simple this team is not a contender, we have some players (Kes, elder) who are getting older but could still get us good young players not moving them at their peak value/possible peak value would be a colossal mistake for this franchise in 2 years if we hang on to kes and edler we will be worse off than is we traded them each for 1 real good asset that our franchise can hang their hat on going forward
