To Car: beau, Myers, podz, 1st pick 2024 (unprotected)

    to van: Pesce, teravainen

money is about the same, and ONLY trading a first if we are on the cusp of the playoffs

sign Pesce to a 6.5m/7yr deal…he’ll be looking at severson/graves type money

then sign bear to a 1yr/1m in Dec

    Kuzmenko-pettersson-mikheyev

    teravainen-Miller-boeser

    pearson-suter-garland

    joshua-blueger-hoglander

    hughes-Pesce

    soucy-hronek

    cole-bear

Keep beau and swap garland into the trade for long term cap benefits and then I’m cool with this

    great proposal

    Couldn’t disagree with you anymore.

We’ve seen way too many “mistakes” that he made too many times for this to be a thing. The guy is a terrible player. I’m done with his daily snow angels, being constantly caught out of position and lack of awareness.

If your memory and or eyesight is an Issue then check out the the stats. He and OEL were the WORST defensive pairings in the ENTIRE NHL. We literally lost games because of these 2 numpties,

    Don’t even go there.

Also, Schmidt is a decent player, just not a good fit here. He was nowhere near bad. He was here for 5 minutes while we saw chaos Giraffe for 5 years where he continued to get worse.

    Sup Giraffe GIF

Schmidt loved Vegas, he was very happy there, funny how that matters to players right... he was less happy in Van and ok in WPG and strange how his play mirrors his happiness with where he is living... so strange, its unbelievable right ????

Myers was good here for the first 4 years of his contract, in bubble he was playing amazing, he just lost a step last year and its over now, Guddy always sucked other than the playoffs one season in FLA like 8 games or something, he had a good playoff run and everyone thought he was coming of age and breaking out....not

OEL just got old and banged up by hockey standards,

    agree with you

Without Pesce (or a similar top 4 defenceman) we've really just got Hughes (a top 5 guy IMO), Hronek (a solid 20+ minute top 4 all around guy), Cole (a bit older but a fringe top-4 guy), Soucy (Seattle's 3rd pairing guy last year), Myers (arguably bottom pairing on any team, no better) and then a spot for Hirose, Irwin, Wolanin or Rathbone (none of them crack a playoff team defence).

We're so close to a decent defence, acquiring someone like Pesce or Hanifin would take us over the top. Without someone like that, we're alright but a real wild card spot calibre defence.

I wouldn't wait until the offseason, we could crash by then and it matters a lot to what we do with Petey and Hronek's deals. I'd go all in now if we can. Flip that first and a roster player, that should do the job for potentially a rental/someone who won't resign in their current team anyway. 1st + Beauvillier/Garland and throw a defensive prospect if they want for either of Pesce or Hanifin. I'd honestly even bite if they wanted Boeser.

    Agree

also what if hronek is not fully healed or has a down year

then our D might look similar to last year

one injury to Hughes, hronek, Cole and we look awful again…

we need a pesce or a Morissey

and trading hogs+ 1st+ a cap balancer like beauvellier (ica but preferably trade garland to free up cap next year) should do it

yes we then have re sign Pesce to big money but we have so much wasted cap in wingers

All fairness Juolevi was ranked # 5 --

It was a draft the Canucks were suppose draft #3 am I correct? Canucks moved back to #5?

I think Dubois would of been there guy but Columbus picked him #3..

I was honestly hoping for Chychrun went #16 ...

So many great players in 2016 draft..

    I was hoping for McAvoy

word was nucks scouted him Hard mid year and liked him but then finished worse than they thought with higher pick

  5. I’m sure Canucks have called on a lot of players to see what asking price is

im sure they called on nylander to check in on price more out of curiosity and trying to stay aware of the market

also in a nylander trade you would prob expect Boeser going the other way for cap reasons

if TO was going to get a massive awesome offer for nylander they would have taken it already

Alvin may even be interested in nylander as a rental to help get the team off to a good start and into the season sign Petey and then get into playoffs …

I bet they offered Brock+ Rathbone+ Hoglander and a 3rd or something like that which TO obviously says no to…

    pinto - now that’s interesting

    increases our young C depth

probably offering - Hoglander or podkolzin + woo

bit we still need more help on D…

I’m fine trading the first if its top 10 protected and it lands us another player like Hronek who’s young and fills a big need.

At this point 15th overall picks aren’t gonna do much for us. It’s time to start beefing up that D core or we’re gonna waste all the prime years of some really good young players.

    I agree

    beef up D

    use first pick

the time is now to pull this team out of the bottom of the league

i think this management group more than Benning, Gillis, Nonis has shown they can identify talent at pro level and know how to value it

    c’mon PA JR

nab someone like - Morissey, Pesce, Pionk, Dhillon…JJ Moser anyone ?

  7. I think CBJ is looking more for a 2C using Kent Johnson as a winger and sillnger as a 3C

brock I think would be a good fit but that’s not their top need

    Boqvist is soft and underachieving

prob too slight and small to really compete

he is waiting for his break out season which may not come

yes a garland for peeke trade has been all the talk

  8. here's a legit proposal that Win I think would do given they want to stay competitive, but good luck re signing Petey to stay in the northern wasteland

    To WIN

    Pettersson

    Rathbone

    Garland

    To VAN

    Morissey

    Vilardi

    Lowry

    Barlow

    Podz Miller Kuzmenko

    Milky Vilardi Brock

    Beau Lowry Suter

    Joshua Bluegger Hoglander

    PDG Aman

    Morrissey Hroneck

    Hughes Cole

    Soucy Myers

    do not trade Hughes

If San Jose can afford to own and operate 11 rinks including a dedicated practice facility, Vancouver can afford their own practice rink.

as a person with two kids in ice hockey in the lower mainland and a adult rec hockey player... there is an obvious shortage of ice time in the lower mainland and we certainly could use a large rink facility where ppl pay to use the ice... just my opinion

but yeah, looks bush league that nucks don't have own practice facility.

Morrissey would need a massive overpayment to get.

RHD do not grow on trees, nor to teams like trading them unless you overpay.

Pesce has a 15 team no trade, why would he want to play here? And for all you know if you offer him $6 million it might turn out to be a Myers redux.

I hate Myers contract, and he's overpaid for what he brings. But unless you want to pay through the nose, I don't see much options.

I think nucks are a good top 4 d away from:

    1. being a perennial playoff team

    2. being competitive enough to resign Petey

    3. stability which we haven’t had in 10 yrs

    id “overpay” pay for that

  11. Ex:

    To ARZ

Myers ( owed 1 million, cap hit 6)

    To VAN

    Dumba

    2 million in cap space

    similar players

    dumba slightly better

owed more actual money but lower cap hit

Myers still can be flipped at TDL for a pick like a 3rd or 2nd if he’s really killing it

im sure nucks have spoken to ARZ about this

only potential hang up we could guess is if ARZ is on his no trade list…

dumba at tdl could get a 2nd but I doubt ARZ would care about that if they get to save 3 million

    Who takes his minutes?

    Woo?

    Juulsen?

Bear if you cannot use the cap to get the much needed top 4 d man that would actually make us a bottom tier playoff team

    target

    JJ Moser

    Mrosissey

Pesce if he will sign with us

    Pionk

    Dhillon

    Demelo

I think the last 4 years there have been some good chemistry developed with our players.  I like Garland and Pods together.  I think Suter is the perfect centre for them.  I like Mikheyev with Petey but any combination of Boeser, Miller and Pearson needs Mikheyev's speed more. That's why I have AB with Petey and Kuzy.  My lines look like this

    AB - Petey - Kuzy

    Mikheyev - Miller - Boeser

    Garland - Suter - Podkolzin

    Hoglander - Aman - Joshua

Hughes - Juulsen (until Willander is ready)

    Soucy - Hronek

    Hirose - Myers

Its just a scrimmage and drills, but he looks very rusty. He looks like he has heavy skates, the skating and likely fitness is not up to par after taking a full year off of hockey.

he looks out of gas from the beginning of the recording and only has one speed, a sign of poor fitness, unfortunately that speed is also slow, bad timing as well, has waivers written all over him, or maybe he will just retire

One or two of Aman, PDG, and Hoglander in a reserve spot. Going to be an interesting and competitive training camp for the forwards...

I would be surprised f Pearson can make any meaningful contribution to the team
