  1. I do see a drop, but maybe down 2% . 18% of his shots being goal is doable for someone of his stature. Now lets say 200 shots, that 36 goals.
  2. Petey had a .93 in his first season. Now imagine if he didn't cool off due to the long season he is used too. In the last 17 games (March + April) he had only 10 points (0.59p/g). Take those 17 games out, he plays 54 games and registers, 56 points. Thats just over a point a game. I personally think he gets 82 points if he plays a full season. Funny thing is you have to consider the increase in points due to Hughes feeding him the puck, the potential LW that will be an upgrade on Goldobin/ fill ins he played with last year. Also I know the kid had one of the best shooting percentages, but he ranked at approx 200 in the NHL for shots with 144. If he averages .5 shots more a game, which is reasonable IMO. That means 42 more shots, equaling approx 8 more goals. All in all, if he plays a full season he could get 80 points. But if he gets 90 to 100. I would not be surprised! But realistically, lets say he plays 71 games again this year. I say he gets 35 goals, 45 to 50 assists.
  3. Pettersson went from Son to Daddy - as per a fan I follow on Twitter LOLOLOL.
  4. LOL looking through this if Ericksson / Sutter/ Goldy have career years and get 20 g and we aren't a playoff team trade em imo.... however if those 3 do that good and we are in the playoffs use the depth
  5. This is for fun. I want you to make 5 bold predictions for the upcoming season. By bold I don't mean unrealistic (aka us winning the cup). Hopefully come next year we go through and see who was the boldest and wisest of em all. For me: 1) We make the playoffs 2) Hughes gets 40+ points. 3) Pettersson gets 75+ points 4) Sutter/ Ericksson are gone by the end of the season 5) Virtanen has a 20G season
  6. PP1 Ferland (Pain for the goalies) Boeser (shot ) Pettersson (can play the point/ right side, dekey and flashy. He will draw players to him causing team mates to get open) Hughes (Vision, and dekey, can pass and shoot on point) Horvat (play on left side, can sneak in behind boards, can take draws, allowing Petey to move into position) PP2 - Dont Matter, with our elite PP1 we score before PP2 ever makes it on.... all jokes aside Miller, Baertschi, Pearson, Myers, Edler..... sub in Virtanen/ Stetcher/ Leivo
  7. I wouldn't read too much in to it. I do hope Demko and Marky get to play to their best. Ride the hot goalie imo. If we feel confident on Demko come trade deadline we can move Marky (assuming he plays .918 + ) he could fetch us a nice return
  8. Boeser's contract is rumored at 7 Million , while I do seem its in the range of fair I personally dont like the deal as its short term and he will be resigned when the new TV deal comes into play. However it is nice as he will remain an RFA. I do believe tho we must avoid giving him 8.5m+ in his last year as it may handicap us come time. Now besides the info stated above that we all know. We may fall into the same hole most teams find themselves of not being to able to sign their star players/ acquire good depth. Horvat imo took a bargain of a deal at 5.5M. However, he will be due for a raise at the same Boeser will be if he signs a 4 year deal. I personally do believe Horvat took nearly a 10% discount. He could have gotten 6M and to be honest I wouldnt have minded. I do believe if we do do the 4 year Boeser deal, we ask him to take a 10% discount in terms of AAV. I'm okay giving him bonus $ and make it so he gets paid in his first year , with a high cap in year 4 so he gets the option of potentially 8 Million in his new contract when the new deal comes into play. Boeser at an AAV of 6.5 Million would mean alot moving forward. The more cap space we have the bigger the chance of winning. Toronto may have the best top 4 in talent, but their defence sucks imo and they wont win a cup until they can acquire depth on D. They are lucky Johansson and Kapenen took cheap deals. Hughes and Pettersson are on ELC for 2 more years and by then Sutter and Ericksson's contracts will hopefully be gone and Edler's contract comes to an end. While it does make it easier for us it also scares me we may offer too much $ to those 2. We do have potentially Poldkozin who may in his own terms be a star player. Luckily for us he fits into our cap structure and will be on an ELC when the 2 stars are being resigned. Pettersson depending if he can improve on his last years PPG and stay healthy may mean he one day makes 9M + . I hope Benning resigns him and Hughes who also could one day make 6M + to good discounted deals. This team seems to have an amazing attitude and I hope they all put the team before themselves. Now my final thing to say, whether you hate or love Benning we need him to stay on our team in a drafting role atleast. The one thing we can benefit on is having tons of young players who can step into the team and make an impact. For example lets say we have a star player who is due for a resign. We may not be able to afford them moving forward , so we trade them for picks/ prospects. However, we wont have to stress on the future if we have studs coming in ready to take minutes from other star players (Hope this makes sense). For example Toronto trading Kadri due to the talent ready to step into his role for a Defender they needed so badly. Boeser at 6.5 for 4 years, or 7 x 7 years is a win Horvat come 2023 could ask for a pay day, assuming the cap increases on average of 2M a season. What is stopping Pettersson / Hughes asking for a bridge deal of 2 years just to see where the cap is when the new TV deal kicks in.
  9. I think Boeser may take a 30 mil, 5 year deal. Just so he gets to resign during the tv deal. Little under what hes worth imo at 6 a year, but it gives us a window
  10. Lets do a 3 way Canucks get Marner Leafs get Laine Winnipeg gets Boeser. btw just jk here
  11. Here is to hoping our boys take discounts to make this team a winner for the long term. Boeser at 6.5 to 7, Petty at 8 to 9, Horvat taking 6.5 to 7 down the road, Hughes taking under 7 (assuming he becomes a franchise D).
  12. I personally say we are playoff contenders.... However, we are still an elite LW and another top 4 dman away from being cup contenders.

Next year is when the pieces fall together.  The Russians come and crash the party.  Podkolzin hopefully adds to our top6, probably on the second line, and Tryamkin is easily a #4.

I do agree we have depth and it is nice, allows us to have secondary scoring if 1 line gets shut down.... also less likely to get screwed by the cap.

Most teams have won with 2 elite players and 1 complimentary on a line

  13. Nope not yet... still got improve our D more, and get an elite top LW
  14. I do like Benning, but we've lost so many players in the last 5 years to Free Agency that we could have traded out for minimal

yeah, we could have totally got a 10th round pick for Pouliot

so, have you researched the other teams loss of players over the past 5 years so we can properly judge JB's losses?

    4. Winter Soldier

      Winter Soldier

THOSE SEVENTH ROUND PICKS HAD VALUE!!!!!!11!

  15. I've thought of that myself, but imo no one is worth 11+ unless youre McDavid. I would give Marner currently 10 mill personally, but thanks to the Panarin sign he wouldnt take less then 11. Unfortunately we would have to add and send something back. Marner adds possibly an extra 20 to 30 points currently compared to Brock when healthy. Would we rather have those 30 points or 3 to 4m in cap space
  16. Hahaha, I have trouble enough understanding Corsi's . For players it would be various factors for salary. Goals, Assists, 5 vs 5, PP, PK, Potential (this would be hard), Corsi stats
  17. For sure, this just shows points and doesnt take into consideration Goals vs Assists but also play in the defensive zone. Someone like Bergeron is a steal considering what he does for his 2 way game.
  18. Thanks man, there's been talks of how cap space for contracts signed should be on % vs dollar value to account for cap space being changed. Pettersson and Marner were next in line and considering the average % was 11.5% , that works out to 9.3M in todays terms.
  19. Was a bit bored and created a document showing what the top 25 players based off P/PG (over the last 3 seasons) make. There is a lots of talks of what a player is worth and there are some definite steals and some over payments. Contracts are shown in a % of that years cap space. Ovechkin at 9.5M AAV is a great deal imo, However when he signed that deal in 2008 he took 16.8% of that years cap space. That percentage in 2019 terms would mean he would get 13.7 M (the highest of anyone) Marchand has had one of the highest P/PG and was signed for cheap at 6.1M in 2017 (8.1% of the teams cap space). At that percentage today he would make 6.65M (huge steal). This made for fun but shows great contracts and provides some depth of what a player should make when compared to these top 24. I say 24 as Panarin is up for a deal. The average % cap space allotted to these players by the way is 11.5%.
  20. Is there any calculator / database in which you can calculate how much a player is worth based on everyone elses salary in the league ?

Doubtful...there are so many variables involved, I wouldn't trust the "database" even if such a thing does exist.

It would have to be a seperate calculation depending on the player for sure. Its easy to do when looking at points and goals, but factor in ice time/ hits/ +/- , pp time, pk time etc it gets complicated.

Heck add in corsi's and $&!# would be crazy.

    3. Drive-By Body Pierce

      Drive-By Body Pierce

That and individual markets, what are their tax rules. What year was any given player signed? What was the market for available players at their position at the time? ...the possible permutations explode very quickly.

  21. we are better off tanking 1 more year assuming we dont get Panarin/ get a top 4dman. Then go all in the year after and go for the cup. TB gets the 2021 draft pick, we get Lord Stanley... Miller can put up 50+ points if with Horvat / Petey, his cap hit is cheap. If we can add Panarin/ Barrie/ Lee then yes we are a playoff team.
